Ever hear the song "I Would Walk 500 Miles?" Well, this God-fearing Kentucky couple hiked 14,000 miles...and they aren't done yet. After through-hiking the entire Appalachian Trail in 2010, Marcia and Winston Terry took their love for the outdoors (and each other) straight to the altar. The two lovebirds decide to get married...only to have a hiker wedding. Their honeymoon? A full thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail AGAIN!
Then, for their one-year anniversary, the happy married couple summited Mt. Katahdin in Maine, the highest peak in the state and the final stretch of the 2,200-mile AT. And that's just where their hiking adventures begin. They've done the trail together four entire times, in addition to all the other hiking they've done. This makes them the east coast's most hike-crazy couple, by a longshot!
On the trail, they're known as "The Honeymoon Hikers," and have gained themselves quite a reputation. After all--though it hasn't been confirmed -- Marcia thinks she might be the first-ever woman to thru-hike the entire trail four separate times. Of course, every thru-hiker on the AT gets bestowed upon them their own trail name...thinks like "Chance" and "Willow," which describe some aspect of their hiking style or personality. I'm not sure what their trail names are...but I'm convinced they're the loveliest thing on the AT from Maine to Georgia!
Now that's what we can an adventure honeymoon.
