Now that you've set your wedding date, there are lots of decisions and plans to be made. It’s no secret that when it comes to planning a wedding, each and every detail demands careful consideration to make your vision come to life. And aside from the venue, one of the first decisions to be made should be your color scheme. Since the rest of the design is going to be influenced by the color scheme, the palette you choose will become the focal point of decoration decisions.
That's why making color scheme descisions first will help streamline all the other decisions that need to be made regarding design details, decor, visual style, and all the other factors. Long before the big day arrives, your color scheme will even be critical for the design of aspects that have nothing in particular to do with the venue! Think things like designing invitations, choosing flower arrangements, and fashion decisions for the bridal party. This year, we’re expecting to see a lot of vibrant color schemes on the wedding circuit - and one of our favorites features Pantone’s color of the year: Ultra Violet.
Because of its sheer beauty and royal tones, this scheme echoes the symbolism of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's upcoming royal wedding. We think this event will have a big influence on other weddings this year. However because implementing such an energetic color into your scheme can be done in either subtle or more obvious ways, you have further decisions to make once you select this palette.
Thankfully, both subtle and obvious design turn out beautifully with this scheme! To make a statement with ultra violet, find bridesmaids dresses that fall in the bright purple range, and have groomsmen wear matching ties with a dark grey suit. Complement the bold purple color with bouquets and boutineers full of greenery and lighter flowers in lilac, white or blush. For a more subtle pop of Ultra Violet, choose to implement the color in flowers, staging decorations, and small details such as makeup or accessories.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, a more delicate color scheme popular for spring is a beautiful juxtaposition of blush and grey. Try pairing a muted pink bridesmaid dress with a grey suit rental from The Black Tux, as showcased:
Bring this classic pairing to life with colored flowers for bouquets and dark ties behind the crisp grey jackets. Another way to implement the color scheme and give your big day a modern feel is to feature rose gold plating and silverware!
No matter the color scheme you choose, the important part is that you get creative with where and how to show it off! Go beyond dressing the bridal party and implement your colors throughout the entire event. From save the dates to table decorations to cake accents, there are always details to spruce up with a little themed coloring -- and the perfect wedding is all in the details!
