Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal wedding is fast-approaching...and as the date draws nearer, more and more details are trickling out about the big event. As of February 2018, here is a run-down of all the royal wedding details released so far that you need to know:
When & Where
It's an Event for Everyone
The Crown confirmed last November that the day's celebratory nuptials will be televised, as the royal couple wants the whole world to be part of the grand occasion. Just how "included" the public will be is still yet to be announced. However they do it, we're sure they have some royally awesome surprises in store for us plebians!
Speech! Speech! Speech!
Bucking royal tradition, Meghan will make a speech during the big event. The latest announcement confirms it--and that Kate Middleton will be joining her to say a few words as well! In the new royal family, women rule :)
The Best Man
Prince Harry has asked his royal brother Prince William to hold the groom's top honor of Best Man. He has plenty of guy friends who would have been happy to take the job, but who better than the one who has been there from the very start, and has already been through a royal wedding of his own -- his big brother?
The Groom's Outfit
There has been much ado about what designer Meghan will choose for her gown. But what about the groom? Reports from sources close to the royal family say that, as a Captain General in the Royal Marines, Harry will be donning his full military uniform for the wedding ceremony. How dapper! (We cheated for the above pic--it's the American Marines, but definitely gives you an idea of how handsome proud military man Harry will look).
The Carriage Procession
Reps for Prince Harry confirmed that after saying "I do," the couple will lead a carriage procession through the small but royal town of Windsor, and then back to Windsor Castle. It's a short procession, but will be a fun way to bring the celebratory atmosphere outside and spread it through the town surrounding the ceremony!
Meghan will be holding a bridal shower, but instead of asking for gifts, she will be asking friends and family to donate anonymously to charity instead through a fund she'll set up. If it's any hint of what's to come, she'll be leaving acting behind and is about to embark on a new life of royal do-goodery.
A Tale of Two Receptions
We know the big day will have two receptions -- one "public" reception and then a second, more private one reserved only for close friends and family of the bride and groom. The first reception will take place at St. Georges Hall, and will likely be an event that the public can view and be a part of. The second, private reception is predictably being kept under wraps so that the newlyweds can enjoy their newly-joined families in peace and privacy.
Sheeran Gone Missing
Despite reports that fire-haired crooner Ed Sheeran would be playing at the wedding, Ed himself says that his tour dates cause a conflict. He wanted to do it, but he can't let down his fans by cancelling tour dates after they've already booked their tickets. We'll miss him at the wedding, but sure are glad he is determined to fulfill his promises to fans. Rumor has it Elton John is in the running as a potential replacement act! Why, you ask? Well, no judgements here on Elton, but he just cancelled Las Vegas tour dates coinciding with the wedding ddate, May 19th.
Who Will Meghan's Bestie Jessica Mulroney Bring Along?
Meghan's best friend and trusty stylist Jessica Mulroney will definitely be in appearance either as a guest, Meghan's go-to style girl, or both. But who will she bring along? We aren't sure about whether she'll bring her husband as a plus-one, but we've heard that her daughter Ivy will definitely be in attendance!
The Royal Titles
Just like Kate Middleton, we already know that Meghan isn't eligible to become a princess. Kate is known as the Duchess of Cambridge. So what will the royal bride and groom's official title be? Word is that they will become the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Royal experts have narrowed it down, saying there are only a couple of possible options, making Duke and Duchess of Sussex the best bet.
