It's official: a new member has been added to the royal family. Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, is officially a mom!
She gave birth after going into labor early this morning, and the new royal peanut weights 7 pounds, 3 ounces. It's all happening just weeks ahead of Meghan's wedding anniversary with Prince Harry, who stayed by her side throughout the entire birth. We're royally excited for this royal family news, and can't wait for the Crown to release all the details. But we know the baby is a boy, is seventh in line to the throne, and that Prince Harry says they haven't settled on a name yet. We also already know that the royal baby will be a Lord, rather than a Prince. We hope a babymoon is in the cards for the new mom and dad, but we'll see!
Megan Hired a Doula
A doula is like a birth coach hired to care for the new mom physically, emotionally, and any other way they can. They're there for the mom before, during, and after the birth, but they aren't doctors, and they're especially popular for women who have decided on a natural birth. With another rumor saying Meghan gave birth at home, the doula would make even more sense. In the past, Meghan even floated the idea of "hypnobirthing," where you enter a state of deep meditation to give birth rather than use pain-relieving drugs.
Megan's Mom Doria Ragland is NOT Moving In
A source told Variety Fair that Doria Ragland, Meghan's mom, will have a new dedicated space at Frogmore Cottage to be close to her new grandson. Despite the other rumors, NO, Doria is not going to be fully moving in with the couple. They'll just have a dedicated area for Doria to stay when she visits.
They Haven't Chosen a Name Yet
If you believed the rumors, you'd think the royal baby name was "leaked," and that it is going to be James, Alexander, or Arthur. It began when web users found out that adding those names with a backslash to the royal family's website URL would send them back to the website's homepage. This led online followers of the royal family to think James, Alexander, and Arthur must be the names Meghan and Harry have narrowed their picks down to. However, the palace responded by saying these are just redirects that were set up a long time ago during some website maintenance.
