Meghan Markle Dishes New Details on Her Royal Wedding

Royals aren't exactly known for saying much about their personal lives. After all, when you're part of a monarchy, so much is already being made public--it feels grounding to have things you can keep personal and private. Thankfully for us, however, Meghan Markle has opened up about her wedding to Prince Harry, and we couldn't be happier to share the details she dished.

Courtesy of the audio guide at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Scotland, the comments were made as part of an exhibit called A Royal Wedding: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The Wedding Planning

With her royal wedding slated to be such a public affair, Meghan says she and Harry wanted to incorporate details to make it feel heartwarmingly personal. One of the biggest ways they gave the day a personal, intimate touch was in the selection of the wedding gown and groom's outfit. In addition the the stunning gown Meghan wore, designed by Clare Waight Keller, Meghan wore a scrap of cloth from the dress she wore on her and Harry's very first date.

With millions of people watching the event from around the world, these personal planning touches were key. Meghan sayus in the audio guide: “We knew how large the scale of the event would be, so in making choices that were really personal and meaningful, it could make the whole experience feel intimate.”

Prince Harry's Groom Outfit

As for Harry, he chose haberdashery that would honor the crown and his military service at once, looking dapper and dashing all the while: “I chose the frock coat as a uniform, with permission from my grandmother, because I think it’s one of the smartest Household Cavalry uniforms. It’s one of my favorites, and I was very fortunate to be able to wear that on the day.” Harry's uniform was crafted by the Savile Row, London tailors Dege & Skinner.
