Like it or not, reviews are flooding in for the new Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder movie Destination Wedding. And it's unlike any other romantic comedy you've ever seen before.
If you're in the mood for dark humor, irreverent wit, and a hilariously pessimistic view on life, romance, and humanity, you've got to check out Destination Wedding. But there are no cutesy Hugh Grant-type moments here. It's more of an anti-romantic comedy, which might be perfect for offbeat couples looking for something completely fresh and unapologetically nihilistic. It's anything but your typical "guy meets girl" love story formula.
In the film, Keanu meets Wynona at the airport, where they're both awaiting a flight to a wedding in San Luis Obispo, California. They find themselves booked in neighboring hotel rooms, forcing them to interact further as they discover neither one of them actually likes the groom, or humanity in general, bringing them closer from their shared loathing of the world and just about everyone in it.
The Wall Street Journal's take is one we have to agree with...you'll either adore this film with all your heart, or hate it just as much. But no one can deny that it takes the romantic comedy formula and turns it upside-down in as many ways as possible!
