We visited the Wentworth Mansion for the first time in December 2024. We have been visiting Charleston for over 20yrs, and will say, the stay was absolutely AMAZING and the best location we have stayed at yet on our trips!!! The service from Bryan, one of the Concierges, was 1st Class our entire trip! I cant say enough about Kyle, as he assisted us throughout our stay!! The property, our room, the restaurant, the views from the top of the hotel, all were AMAZING and we will definitely be booking a stay there again in the near future!! The property was only a short 15min walk from all of the action in Historic Charleston!! Well worth every penny spent!!!!
Thank You Bryan and Kyle!!!

We had an incredible stay at the mansion. It was our first time, just a short 3 night, babymoon. Bryan, the concierge, was one of the shining lights of the trip. His knowledge, decorum, kindness, and genuine passion for history and this city was obvious and so enjoyable to chat with. My wife and I don’t typically go to the same place twice but would absolutely come back here. It was peaceful, clean, the food and amenities were excellent, luxurious, and if there’s anything you need, they’re ready to help at a moment’s notice.

The Grand Dame of Charleston
Excellent amenities in a curated space that is both functional and luxurious for even the most discriminating of travelers. I enjoyed the accommodations, but the complementary breakfast at 1886 was a great experience by itself. The staff is top tier in providing hospitality.

The accommodations and staff make this hotel feel like a (very, very nice) home away from home. The working fireplace and the jacuzzi tub make the rooms so special. We also enjoy the wine and appetizers every evening. We have met some very nice people who also enjoy the Wentworth.
We were there earlier this year to celebrate Valentine’s Day, and later, a birthday. We look forward to our next stay.

The staff were incredible. Annie, Will, Christin, Kevin, and Chelsea always had a smile and had the desire to make our stay very comfortable. They encouraged us to consider the mansion our home. We enjoyed social hour from 5-6 pm and provided wine and apps to be enjoyed with other guest. The apps and danishes the following morning were a culinary delight. The breakfast was 5 stars and I encourage you to enjoy the peanut strawberry danish with home made sausage. Jeff and I are ready to return and Abbie (our dog) will be joining us!
This hotel and the team made us feel like we were at home and we now consider the Wentworth Mansion home away from home.

We enjoyed the morning coffee and pastries, afternoon tea and lemonade, happy hour hors d'oeuvres, and evening port, cognac and brandy. Breakfast at Circa next door was wonderful.
We enjoyed the hotel’s location away from the hustle and bustle of King Street, which is only a short walk over.
The best part of the trip was our concierge, Bryan. He was a doll! He told us a lot of wonderful history about the area and was a delight to talk to every evening.
Highly recommend staying here!

We chose the Wentworth Mansion for a 4-day relaxing getaway. We are so glad we did! The Mansion itself is just beautiful. We spent a good portion of time admiring all of the detail in the 1886 structure. It is beautifully kept, and the appointments were delightful. In the afternoon, when we'd been out walking the town, there was iced tea and lemonade (good fresh lemonade that was not too sweet!) available in the parlor. The parlor and sunroom were outfitted with comfy chairs arranged in spaces for socializing or sitting quietly alone if you prefer. Early evening the sunroom held a lovely spread of hors d'oeuvres with wine pairings. And in a little nook off the parlor a tray of cordials remained at the ready anytime you'd like to enjoy a sip. My husband enjoyed a cigar while we sipped our cordials in the cool October evening air in the garden.
And I must make a point of saying that Bryan Ball, who was our concierge for most of the trip, made our stay especially pleasant. He spent time sharing is knowledge of the history of the area and made wonderful suggestions for things to do. We especially were pleased with Leyla Fine Lebanese Cuisine, which he suggested. He was friendly and took time with us. It's clear he loves Charleston and enjoys offering hospitality to guests. Greatly appreciated him.
In addition, the room was fantastic! The linens and pillows and mattress perfectly comfortable. The room had lovely appointments, and turn down service was very nice. Also, I mustn't forget to say that the breakfasts in Circa 1886, the restaurant on site, were marvelous. And the folks working there very friendly. In short, the service here was seamless and our stay was just what we needed. Engaging and relaxing at the same time.

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed at. (To put it in perspective, I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton in Santa Barbara earlier this year, and the Wentworth Mansion was far superior.)
The service is attentive and friendly. (It’s clear that the one concierge, Brian, loves what he does!) The various concierges assisted me with making all dinner reservations several weeks in advance which was very helpful (they proactively reached out to do this, too). Since they knew when we had dinner reservations, they came to our room each evening while we were out to “turn down” the room (close the blinds, shut the doors to the sun room, put chocolates on the bed, etc.). I suspect that even if they didn’t make dinner reservations for you, they would find out when you had reservations so that they could do this for you. They also gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne upon arrival because it was our 5th anniversary - what a way to wow us at the first impression!
Now for the complimentary amenities. There is port wine and brandy available throughout the day, and they hold a cocktail hour from 5 to 6 every day. The hors d’oeuvres were delicious and varied throughout our stay, and the wine was great (can’t say much about wine since I’m no connoisseur). There is a restaurant attached to the hotel called Circa 1886 - you get to have breakfast there each morning which was phenomenal. Pastries are baked fresh each day and there is a very nice selection of entrees - be sure to try the “croque madame” with grits! (Side note: I WISH we had made dinner reservations to dine there considering our experience with cocktail hour and breakfast each day. Dinner is not complimentary, haha. But my guess is that it would be completely worth the price.) Finally, they put out tea and a tea kettle each night so that you could make yourself a cup of tea, which I loved.
We did not go to the spa while there, so I cannot speak to that (again, those services are priced separately).
Other cool things: You get a real brass key (this mansion truly is a mansion and used to house a wealthy family). Also, the original owner had a “bucola” built at the top of the mansion, and you can climb the stairs to have a rooftop view of the city. The mansion has several sitting areas on the main floor which contain different pieces of the hotel’s history (I spent some time reading through these while waiting for an Uber at one point and I found it interesting).
I am hard-pressed to think of ways that they could improve the stay. I think my only critiques are that 1) our fireplace was on a timer, which ticked somewhat loudly (not a huge deal and understandable), and 2) some of the ceiling wallpaper in the shower was starting to peel a bit (again, understandable).
One other thing is that this hotel is not in the busy downtown area if that is what you are looking for. This is located in the more quiet part of Charleston. You can definitely walk to the more busy downtown area (about a 10 minute walk or so), which we did several times, but we also ended up Ubering to different spots throughout our stay.
A 10 out of 10 experience for sure.

Oh my goodness! All the reviews are spot-on! Bryan is superb in his customer service. Equally so is Anna. We arrived much earlier than expected and Anna offered to store our bags and send us on our way to explore and get lunch. She also suggested a carriage tour, which we did and was a great way to see the city. Bryan assisted us in getting a tour booked to Fort Sumter and offered both the pros and cons which we appreciated. His knowledge of Charleston is above and beyond what we would have dreamed would be offered when checking into a hotel. I asked about the history of the mansion and he directed me to the library and showed me a book which has it all.
He invited me to sit in the library and read comfortably...which I did. So nice! Once in our room, it was spectacular! We had room #7 which has a private balcony which we enjoyed while having a glass of champagne and dessert. The happy hour was a great place to sit and visit with other guests who were all so nice to visit with and exchange tales of Charleston. The included pastries and coffee before the main breakfast...oh gosh! All so delicious. The cordials waiting in the evening is a very nice touch to finish the evening. Be sure to go up to the cupola for sunset! Great view of the city. The grounds are beautifully kept. This is a must do!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Wentworth Mansion. A wonderful bed and breakfast that goes beyond any expectations and service. Our favorite concierge was Bryon. He greeting us with standing ovation each time he saw us, he went beyond to not only ask how we were doing and how are day is going but continually with offerings the Wentworth provides for the stay. His charm and southern personality really was one of the highlights of our stay and I looked forward to his greetings every evening. The staff was also amazing, we really felt as if we were royals set back in time. Circa was also amazing and we had wonderful massages at the spa. We also took a private tour around the city in a old time car, that is exclusive to Wentworth. We learned about the history of areas In Charleston and got to ride in this fabulous car. The guide who owns the car, was also a delightful gentleman and we enjoyed our time with him. He too went out kf his way to make our experience top notch and made us feel special. The offerings of coffee and pastries in the morning along with appetizers and wine in the evening were 5 stars. Coming in the afternoon and cooling off with Lemonade was alao a treat. This charming establishment is a must if looking for a quiet and 5 star southern service.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted like old friends. Owen greeted us at the door and introduced us to Bryan who could not wait to show us the mansion. From the way he lovingly showed us around each and every room. It was quite obvious. He’s very proud of what he does. The afternoon wine and cheese is a wonderful touch. Brandy and port in the evening was just the right nightcap. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and oh so comfortable. we loved the Cupola In the morning for sunrises and in the evening for sunsets with champagne. We also met Lisa the innkeeper and Kevin. Will was amazing. Also, he called us before we even arrived to see what they could do to make us even more comfortable. He was actually able to get our dinner reservations changed for a later time so we wouldn’t be rushed. With all of this being said, the day we left did not feel like a goodbye, and felt like I can’t wait to see you again to both the staff and the beautiful mansion. See you in December.❤️

Bryan and Lisa were phenomenal; so lovely to talk to as we were leaving for the day or coming back from dinner. Bryan knows so much history and answered all our questions. We went on the yacht excursion exclusive for guest and it was perfect they arranged everything and made it so easy, Can’t wait to come back to this little oasis in downtown Charleston.

My husband and I had the opportunity to stay at this wonderful bed and breakfast last month, and everything about it was nothing short of spectacular! I love a good bed and breakfast, and after doing my research, the Wentworth Mansion stood out to me because of the reviews as well as the history.
When we arrived we were promptly greeted, and our bags taken to our room while the concierge Brian filled us in on the mansion and things to do during our stay. Let me say this, every place needs a concierge like Brian. While the mansion is fabulous in many ways, Brian put the icing on the cake with is information and absolutely beautiful personality. He could teach so many people nowadays about customer service skills and making someone feel welcome. He was full of information and his lovely personality drew me in and had my husband and I agree that he has been our favorite concierge/inn keeper of all time, and we stay at a lot of B&B’s.
I can’t say enough about the great service we received, the lovely mansion room we stayed in, and the delicious breakfast and service we enjoyed at Circa 1886. My only disappointment was the restaurant was closed for dinner that week we were staying there so we did not have the opportunity to try that aspect of the restaurant. I hope to get back to Charleston again soon, and rest assured this is the only place I will stay😊

This is a great old school place to stay with old southern charm. We really enjoyed our stay. The place is beautiful and our room was spacious. Our stay came with free breakfast and it is in the same restaurant as there signature restaurant for dinner and it was great and really nice. Too bad we had the rudest people every sitting next to us! The location is great and we pleasantly surprised how quiet it was given how old the mansion is. We also had a great couples massage on the premises. The only reasons I wouldn't go with a five star review is the oversized bathtub was quirky and did not work very well and there was a slight musty smell as we walked up and down the stairs. Sounds picky and is probably is. I would recommend this for couples looking for the old south Charleston feel a bit off the beaten path in a romantic setting.
