Don't let the naysayers deter you from this property. I just returned from a 5 night stay that was one of the best I've ever experienced. The staff, from arrival to departure, were absolutely welcoming and attentive. If you like nature, calm, and quiet...this is the place. The manner in which the property is connected via a boardwalk amongst the vegetation is something I miss already. The management team has done a marvelous job, I've never seen a staff this happy and welcoming. The breakfast options were copious, and the staff had great recommendations on things to do and see nearby. I highly recommend the French toast. Rent a car! The price for parking is more than reasonable and there are so many nearby tastes and sights that making your own trnsportation worth while. In addition, the valets were always so polite, helpful, and took great care of us. The butlers were all amazing! Quick shout out to Oscar for making our first night special and Juan for helping out with local food suggestions. The housekeeping kept the room immaculate and the cookies and turndown service were exquisite. Don't forget the on-site bio tour that includes a quick stop by the on-poroperty no kill shelter. If you enjoy golf, it was pretty sweet to visit the range for free and to hit a few balls. The course looked pristine but didn't play. Im sorry others had a different experience than me, but I'd go back tomorrow if i could. This place really is magical.

I honestly don’t know what more people expected with the low reviews. Just returned from a three day stay and it was an amazing quick get away. Like everyone else mentioned it is pretty much secluded , but enjoyed the peace and quiet. The resort offered several amenities to satisfy me and my spouse. Food was very limited , but it also sufficed for the quick trip. The beach was private and peaceful. The service was above and beyond. Enjoyed the daily French press coffee in bed. If you are looking for a quick get away St Regis is it!

Pros -Gorgeous tropical rainforest setting -Large rooms (even the least expensive ones) -Two pools plus ocean beach -One adult only pool deck -Pool and beach side drink service -Great water pressure and temperature in the shower -Comfortable bed linens -Huge and absorbent beach and shower towels -Very private - no hustle or bustle here -Bikes are a fun easy way to get around -24 hour room service - food is good and not terribly slow. -The spa has showers for late check out and a jacuzzi, sauna, and cold plunge pool. All are included as a part of the daily resort fee -Breakfast is solid. The continental breakfast is $35 (free for Marriott elite platinum or higher) with a $9 upgrade to the hot buffet and omelet menu. The upgrade also includes a mimosa. If you have the free continental breakfast you only pay the $9 difference. Cons -Everything is resort prices - food and drinks are expensive. But that should surprise no one at all venue like this -Common spaces are just not as well cleaned as they could or should be. Bathroom trashes overflowing. Sinks needing wipe downs. Pool walls were green and slimy in lots of places. Lots of sand and bugs in the pool. So many discarded drinks and towels by the main pool. (This last issue is a guest created problem, to be clear, but staff aren’t picking up enough to keep up with it.) -Service was inconsistent. We requested turndown service between 7-8:30pm during our stay. They came after that, nonetheless, and then called the room (after we were in bed!) asking if we wanted turndown. The privacy sign was up. -The butler system is not as great as it sounds. You don’t have an assigned person, and you communicate by phone or chat (app) and never know who you’ll get. If you don’t book reservations before arrival it can be tricky to get what you’d like. They also don’t always reply quickly. (My guess is they are swamped!) -We had an error in our bill - only $27 and change but after being assured it would be handled by the front desk it hasn’t been. I’m sure I’ll eventually get it sorted but for a resort like this, that feels crazy. Worth knowing The pools don’t seem to be heated. They were brisk, which we liked but some may not. There is a depressing amount of trash on the beach, mostly small plastic. We picked it bin up each day on our beach walks. But it was disheartening. (There were also a lot of shells!) The ocean water is rough, or at least it was in January. We didn’t dare swim because of the rip warnings. We did walk with ankles in the water and it was clean and nice. Just very aggressive waves This is a rainforest. There are bugs and lizards and iguanas. The lizards are pretty large and everywhere. If that freaks you out, maybe this isn’t your kind of place. The vibe here is pretty corporate. It’s not a warm and fuzzy place - very formal in a lot of ways. The service was generally good but we have resorts we go to where it feels like family. This isn’t that. Our bikes were taken twice during our stay, despite being tagged with our room number. This is again a people issue, but unless you actually borrow a bike I’m not sure you would be given the rules about their use. The daily resort fee is $99 on top of the room rate and tax. Nor cheap. I don’t think we got $300 in value out of the resort amenities that the fee covered - but your mileage may vary.

We really enjoyed out stay at the St Regis Puerto Rico. We were upgraded rooms which was a great start (Marriot status & nightly award upgrade). We really enjoyed the champagne sabering the first night (it's every night at 6PM, I think). We really enjoyed Paros. The service was exceptional from the time we arrived (valet, butler, servers, and pool attendants) almost everyone was very accommodating, kind, helpful and friendly. I appreciated that they all had a conversational level of English so it didn't impede communication. I guess I mention this bc my Spanish is rusty although I try to speak it and I'm from Miami area where they pretty much expect you to speak Spanish and can be quite frosty if you don't speak it so it was nice to not have to even think about that. I came to celebrate my bday and on my bday Elizabeth and Karen stood out. Elizabeth from the spa was the sweetest person and made me feel so special on my bday jst through her kindness. Karen was a lovely person and great server and made every morning such a pleasure. She was very welcoming even when extremely busy with a wedding party. On the days that were less crowded, we discussed the scary movies we like since it was around Halloween. I really am not a breakfast person however I made an exception because the breakfast was fantastic. The butler service was also great, they delivered French press coffee every morning, which was a treat. Everyone was accommodating except the women at the front desk (I didn't catch her name) at the spa (the man was very friendly at the front desk at the spa, I was always hoping he would be there instead of her). When I asked if we could change the channel in the gym, she didn't know how, when I asked to have a tour of the spa she said I could show myself around (Elizabeth was kind enough to give me a tour once I entered the locker rooms) and she was not welcoming when I tried to enter the spa. The pool was great, and the location was really nice in a rainforest setting on the beach. I wouldn't say it's a stay for the beach, it's more for the property. Overall, our stay met or exceeded our expectations.

Very pretty hotel, not much to do. The restaurants were so so, would not brag about the food with the prices that went with them. The spa states certain prices but at check out you have about 3 other service fees on it.....at least doubles the price stated. Not enough workers at the spa to be able to enjoy others services they wanted to offer. For the price you pay here more information should be shared and would not recommend this place in Oct/ Nov.

I’m kinda old and have over 4,000 hotel nights to my credit so placing this St Regis as my #1 of all time is saying something. The cleanliness is some of the best I’ve ever seen. The politeness of the employees was so amazing. Housekeeping department is so impressive and attention to detail in our room exceeded all expectations Front desk welcome group is so relaxing and they have extreme etiquette and are extremely well trained Bellmen are the most polite I’ve ever seen Introductory walk with front desk team to your resort room to explain the resort and property layout and room amenities is worth listening to again and again. Restaurant service morning and night was spectacular. My apologies for not remembering our waitress’ name but she has glasses and is from the town of Rio Grande and has been there several years while going to college. Nevertheless, this lady would be an excellent trainer for any foodservice restaurant wanting to learn how to serve guests impeccable service as her presence and professionalism exceed all top possible scores. ( this is saying something as I’ve worked foodservice myself for over 45 years ) This girl will go so far in her life if she stays in hospitality….dont hold her back, let her free as she has what it takes to change the world! This entire resort team doesn’t make mistakes and is extremely well trained. My congratulations on exceeding all perfect scores. Marriott Bonvoy corp needs to visit as well to learn a thing or two

We just got back from an amazing three-day stay at this hotel, and it exceeded our expectations. We've traveled to many places, including several trips to Puerto Rico, but this resort truly stands out as the one of the best we've ever experienced. Every single staff member went out of their way to make us feel special. Little touches, like the valet offering us water for the road or the breakfast team remembering our names, made us feel right at home. When we asked the butler to help with our bags, they didn’t just bring them down—they offered to load them straight into our car. We were so pampered during our stay that leaving was the hardest part. Sure, the hotel might be smaller than the Hyatt nearby, but I would choose the St. Regis again without hesitation. Whoever is in charge of training the staff deserves a huge round of applause. They’ve made this place unforgettable for us. For anyone planning a visit, I highly recommend renting a car. There are plenty of restaurants nearby to explore, and having a car makes it easy to get around. The resort does have a pickleball court set up on the basketball court, but I think this is one area where there's room for improvement. A dedicated pickleball court with the option for lessons from a pickleball pro would be a wonderful addition.

We stayed at the St. Regis Bahia beach for the third time this past July 4th weekend for 6 days. It was an amazing and relaxing vacation. The resort grounds are beautiful and so picturesque. Everyting from biking, kayaking, to nature trails are included. You do not need to leave the resort unless looking for other dining options. Amazing turn down service done by Edwin. We even got a free bottle of Kosher wine from the Resort Manager Santiago who is the nicest man. They are happy when you are happy. We are kosher and they provided us with paper and plastic utensils at the breakfast which was included as we are Platinum Bonvoy members. We did not get an upgrade or 4:00pm checkout though but the points we used were defiently a great for your buck. The hotel was full over the holiday weekend but it never felt like it was. Its a 35 mn Uber ride from the airport costing about $45. Once at the hotel you are limited to their food options, but they do have a real refrigerator in the room to hold the mini bar that costs$. We moved the drinks aside and stored our own food and drinks and they even provided us a real mini-fridge that gave us more room to store our kosher food. There is a great super market, Ralphs, 8 minues from the hotel for a $10 uber ride. There we got drinks and food of which they have a lot of kosher food options to buy. The resort provided us with so many things to do and see that we actually never left the grounds except to goto the grocery store. The rooms are great as are the views of the garden/jungle and beach. The ocean was warm and the sand and ocean walks are great. We don't golf but the course looks great. The homes that are being built add to the beauty and opulence of the area. You won't be disappointed. We are planning to go back soon.

My wife and I recently stayed at STR Bahia Beach 3 nights. This was our second time here. She is a platinum bonvoy member. The standouts for us were the hospitality and service. My wife has a lot of eating restrictions so they went above and beyond to ensure that this did not change her ability to have a good time and enjoy herself. Chef Diego is new here but seems already to have established a high level of quality in the kitchen. I noted some reviews before had negative things to say about the food but perhaps this was before he arrived or during transition. I think in many ways the base level of quality in the food is better from a few years ago. Stacey, who was there the last time we came, did an incredible job at coordinating the F&B side for my wife. She was seemingly always available and did her job with a smile. Made coming back a really easy decision for our anniversary. The pool is really nice and a relaxing way to spend an afternoon. The housekeeping staff was really attentive and made the room so welcoming after each turn down. The beds, as with all STR, are so inviting. The nature tour with Jessalyn was very informative. We also enjoyed visiting the animal shelter. Some other items which don't necessarily influence our decision to come back again but would be nice to see when we do -gym is small for the amount of guests at resort. definitely need a bigger space -maybe i missed it but i didn't see any classes that they offered (lawn yoga etc). would be nice to have if you don't have car so you can do more things on property. -i do agree that having a bit more variety in food options would be good but its not a dealbreaker for me

Just returned today. Upon reaching the property we realized the property exceeded our expectations mainly due to the level of detail in landscaping and environment. The staff just nailed it with service. Concierge, valet, butler, housekeeping, waitstaff, even the pool staff, just absolutely exuded service, even the guard at the gate was extremely friendly and helpful. The only time we thought maybe there was a service problem we were wrong, because they actually stored our luggage in the room closet. We have teenagers, so we aren't used to other people actually putting things in the closet. And the property, well, it's just gorgeously manicured in every way. Our room exceeded expectations; it was very modern and very clean.

This is a luxury hotel with extraordinary service (everyone is assigned a "butler" to make sure that complimentary morning tea arrives, that you don't miss afternoon free champagne, and that you generally feel pampered) in a literally fantastic setting (the hotel sits in lush acres of native jungle plants and ornamentals). Our simple garden King room had a shower and tub in a wet room big enough to throw a party. Other luxury touches included a small back patio, an entry foyer with a large bar, and a walk-in closet/luggage room. Rooms are in many separate modest-sized buildings. If walking to them under the forest canopy or in a warm tropical shower isn't your thing, there are a bunch of small shuttles available for free to keep you dry and LOTS of eager young staff ready to take you to your room (or anywhere else on the enormous property that you might wish to go). There are lots of pretty umbrellas at hand, and we were given one to take home. As some others have noted, food choices were limited, but the lambchops and salads (hummus, baba ganoush, tzatziki) at Paros Restaurant were great -- AND THE VIEW OUT TO THE OCEAN AT SUNSET WAS GORGEOUS. So was the hamburger and other small plates (and Pina Coladas) at the St. Regis Bar. We tried one highly rated local restaurant one night, but found that the hotel's food was far better. One morning, the wife did the spa (Rum massage) and I did golf. Another day we took a taxi to Old San Juan. The next afternoon a nature guide took us on tour of the Bahia property, which has received an ecological award from Audubon. Then on another day we were 2 of 10 guests on a tour to nearby El Yunke rainforest that started at the hotel. That didn't leave us nearly enough time in our 6 days to lounge at the pool with drinks in our hands, or a bowl of seviche, or wood fired oven pizza from SeaGrape restaurant (servers will bring your food and drink to you), shaded by enormous umbrellas, or floating in the enormous clean serpentine-shaped pool. If you want a luxurious, relaxing vacation with golf, spa, and a nearby exotic rainforest this is a best bet!
