I liked staying here. Why I have to get to 120 max characters to say so is kind of ridiculous trip advisor litmus test!
Excellent hotel. Great location walking distance to McGill and the Park and the Bell Center where the rotten Canadiens play. Fantastic service. Great rooms with comfortable bed and fireplace. Bar service was great. Would highly recommend

This was one of the finest hotels that my wife and I have ever visited and we're glad we chose this hotel/city to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. The Signature King room was ultra clean and updated with modern furnishings and electronics (ex. fancy electronic lighting controls, window shades). The bathroom had a really neat automated toilet/bidet and heated flooring/towel racks along with a huge shower and soaking tub. The staff were all attentive and so friendly. The food, which was all available via room service, was gourmet prepared and excellent. Room service, which is becoming extinct in many hotels, was efficiently run from ordering to delivery (and so fun to have as an option). There's a really nice rooftop lap pool and sundeck (which overlooks a spectacular mural of Leonard Cohen). The lobby is where you really get a sense of the classic charm of this hotel which opened back in 1912. The hotel is situated in a great central Montreal location near multiple metro stops, parks, restaurants and shopping. The true test of any hotel is on check out day - if you're sad to leave then odds are you've had a top-notch experience - suffice it to say, we were very sad to leave! Finally, Montreal is such a beautiful city - I've been visiting since the 1970s and this city continues to be a treasure of great experiences.

Lovely experience from start to finish. We arrived very late at night and had very personal service. Room is a nice size and well equipped. Shower was amazing. Good outlet options. Breakfast each morning was lovely looking over outdoor courtyard.

I expected so much more from this hotel. Just finished a four night stay and was here in Montreal celebrating my birthday. The room was small, bed and pillows not comfortable, and the blackout curtains were a joke. I’m sensitive to light when I sleep and this hotel might’ve had the worst set up for their curtains/blinds. The TV in the room was also a joke. No movie channels unless you pay a premium and no easy way to connect to Netflix. They had to bring out a Roku machine and connect it to the tv in a very unsightly manner. The shower and heated toilet were nice. The breakfast dining area was very relaxing and I enjoyed that party about the hotel. Otherwise this is not a luxury hotel by no means. I would not recommend this hotel to family or friends.

Really nice hotel. Room and bathroom were spacious. Turndown service impeccable. Doormen extremely helpful and kind. Food was excellent, service was a bit slow at breakfast one day, but better the next. Only decision is whether you want to stay here or closer to the Old City. This is closer to shopping and Mont Royale park, and walkable to many areas including the festivals. I had a great pedicure with Svetlana. The pool area was really nice and relaxing (and nicer than the one the Four Seasons offers). Four seasons spa was nice but nothing amazing like I kept hearing about!

As at every Ritz Carlton we've stayed at, the service and amenities were top notch. However, there was absolutely no view from the room (we looked out on the side of an office building about 40 feet away) and the room was a bit smaller than we expected. The bathroom was very nice, although my wife and I would have felt more comfortable if there was the ability to put a shutter up on the oversized window in the bathroom. With the sheer blind provided, we weren't sure whether or not the people in the office building could see everything going on in our bathroom.
We had an incredible dinner at Maison Boulud in the hotel, but the biggest disappointment that we experienced was also in the hotel's dining room: At breakfast, the waiter asked us if we would like to have our coffee refilled. We said, "Sure". When we received the check, there was a second $14 charge for two extra cups of coffee. That was a first for me, and at about $1,000 a night, I did not expect to be nickel and dimed for a coffee refill.
That was enough to turn me off from Ritz Carlton for a while. I'll make sure to avoid the Ritz Carlton logo on our next trip.

We stayed in a junior suite with a king bed for two nights in October’24. This was an extremely expensive treat as the room costs over a $1000 CAD per night which is way more than we’d usually spend however it was a special occasion. When I arrived early, which they accommodated very kindly, and entered the room, I was taken aback as the first thing I saw was the sight of the buildings across the street from our room complete with scaffolding and hoardings. I was very disappointed as this ugly sight completely dwarfed any feelings I had about how the room looked. I went down and expressed my disappointment which they handled very well and asked for some time to come up with a solution. I went back up and put the blinds 3/4 down to mask the ugly sight and had a proper look at the room which was actually very nice. The bed was extremely comfortable with lovely bedding. The sofa area looked appealing and the sofa itself was super comfortable. I think the shape of the room was very attractive being square in shape although some of the furniture was past its sell by date. After talking to my partner, I rang down and said we’d stay in the room as I knew it was not the hotel’s fault that the buildings opposite were under renovation and that the views all around on that floor were of ugly buildings.
The concierge team had previously asked what we would like in our room on arrival so I found a plate of meat canapés and a bottle of wine. I have to admit that was a little disappointed as the plate was very small and a bit lacking in variety as it could have done with some cheese or something to go with the crackers.
The suite has a great dressing room and the pièce de résistance is definitely the large bathroom, complete with an enclosed cubicle for their Toto Japanese toilet which is a 5 star experience in itself. The bathroom was a great size for two people with a wonderful shower and bathtub. The dressing gowns were of the waffle fabric variety and a total treat.
As hotel lobbies go, it is not the best as there are no sofas to just sit on and relax and people watch without having to pay to have food or drink. There is a large section dedicated to afternoon tea during the day and a bar at night which we were able to enjoy at night.
I have already left a separate review for the high end restaurant on site called Maison Boulud which for us was a major disappointment. The unsatisfactory reply received from the Director of this restaurant clearly indicated that they did not value my comments or take them at all seriously. I would not go back.
The hotel is in a great location to explore Montreal.
As to value for money, I can’t say that their junior suite is worth over a thousand CAD per night as it is a one room suite with living and sleeping areas together in the same room with only one bathroom . The negative impact of the buildings very close and opposite means the room has terrible views, building renovations on or off. I have stayed in much nicer two room suites in both Montreal and Toronto that have cost significantly less so I guess you are just paying for the brand.
Having said all that, we really enjoyed our stay.
