Loved everything about my stay at the National. Had never visited BI before and the historic hotel met all my expectations and more. Rooms are small, but they all are here, as I understand it. Regardless, I highly recommend! Food, excellent. Bar, fun. Drinks, well mixed. View from the porch, outstanding. Service, spectacular. My one suggestion for mgt is that the music during the day in the courtyard—where the firepits are—is unnecessary at the level it was. No one is there to listen to smooth jazz fusion at level 9 1/2. A quiet area to read and talk with friends during the day would be wholly welcome. (In the evening, have at it.) Small note for an otherwise enjoyable vacation.

We sat down at one of the fire pits outside. After 10 minutes we went in to see how we go about getting the fire turned on and getting served drinks. We were told someone would come out and help. After 10 more minutes someone came out and turned on another groups fire and took their drink over. Their drinks were served and no one ever came over to serve us or ask if we needed help. So we left, underwhelmed.

Great experience at this hotel! So glad we stayed here. The location is great, customer service is amazing and the hotel is so clean. I would definitely recommend this place and I would stay here again. The breakfast was so good. If you didn’t want to order what was included...

If you didn’t want to order what was included with your stay they gave you a 10$ credit per person which I thought was a great idea. We stayed in an ocean view queen room. Highly recommend staying in that room! What a beautiful view of the sunrise. We really enjoyed our first Block Island experience.

We came here to eat dinner and had a delicious meal, our waiter Griffin was so friendly and attentive! The property is beautiful with gorgeous ocean views and a relaxing atmosphere. The food was fantastic & we really enjoyed the live music. The most amazing part was how helpful Gabby and Julie were at getting our bicycle tire back to us after someone accidentally locked their bike to our tire. They absolutely went above and beyond to help us out!! We can’t wait to come back and visit. Thank you so much to everyone at National Hotel!!

We have stayed here for 3 short trips. Always comfortable and beautiful sights to see. Our room was quaint and lovely, with 2 windows so we were able to get a great crossbreeze. The hotel is historical and very well maintained. One of its most enjoyable offerings is its gorgeous fire pit, out in back of the hotel. It's the perfect place to unwind after exploring the island either by foot or on a bike.

Pros: VERY friendly staff, two good dinners, and a pretty back patio with gorgeous flowers. Cons: TV didn’t work well, and new a/c unit was very noisy. But the REAL problem was the constant loud music. The website and confirmation letter said they had live music Friday and Saturday nights,...

Pros: VERY friendly staff, two good dinners, and a pretty back patio with gorgeous flowers. Cons: TV didn’t work well, and new a/c unit was very noisy. But the REAL problem was the constant loud music. The website and confirmation letter said they had live music Friday and Saturday nights, so I wasn’t worried because we weren’t there those nights. Turns out, because most folks are eating outside due to the pandemic, they had the music every night from 6-9: no variation in type and (in my opinion) not very talented musicians. During the day and after the live set, recorded music is playing, and it’s very repetitive top 40 stuff from the 70s and 80s. My husband and I are quiet people, and it just wasn’t right for us. Julie, the general manager, did offer to change rooms for us, but the ones available wouldn’t have helped. We’ll look for a quieter place further from town next time. If you like always having music in the background, you may feel differently. P.S. Mask wearing indoors and by waiters outside was enforced. Between that and the steady breeze, we felt pretty safe during our pandemic mini-vacation.
