Great experience, great location. Really good service! We stayed at the Michelangelo for a trip to NYC for Valentine’s Day. This location is so close to all the important stuff! Also did ‘The Ride’ experience based on the recommendation of the concierge…it was great!

The Michelangelo is our home away from home in New York. Location is perfect for theater. Staff is friendly and welcoming. We had a great stay and look forward to our next visit. We enjoyed Room 607 which was clean and in great order. We also enjoy the safety and walkability of the neighborhood and access to the subways and all that makes New York a great city.
Below is a picture of Tedoro, who is one of the many friendly and always helpful doormen who will greet you on arrival at The Michelangelo. The two Times Square pictures are from around 44 th Street. The Michangelo is 7 short blocks North from here on the quiet outside of Times Square.
We cant wait to get back to NYC and The Michelangelo.

We had a fabulous stay at The Michelangelo this weekend!
Highlights:
* Theodoro held the door for us as we came and went. He is warm, friendly, welcoming, and fun to chat with.
* Angel checked us in. I accidentally booked a room starting on 10/18 instead of 01/18 -whoops- but Angel sorted it all out and upgraded us!
* Walter checked us out today and Caesar called us a cab.
How do I know all these names? The staff clearly focuses on customer service and they do it well. The hotel is comfortable and well located.
We've already planned a return trip next month.

We travel often to NYC. Since we had theatre tickets to see Wicked at the Gershwin, we decided to try the Michelangelo in midtown west/Times Square. It was a very good decision!
We were able to get a one bedroom suite during the Cyber sale. We prefer a larger hotel room but in NYC those are very expensive. The Cyber sale made it a bit more affordable. I had also seen that the location was prime to other attractions we love, MOMA and Rock Center, as well as some of our favorite restaurants - all in walking distance: La Grande Boucherie, Le Bernadin, Capitol Grille, Kirspy Kream (!).
But I had also read other Trip Advisor reviews and two things stood out: great service and cleanliness, two things that are always paramount for us. This hotel excels at both! My husband had never commented before about a hotel being clean. He did here!
One small thing that worked well for us was the lobby bar converted into a breakfast spot each morning. We could go down and just get a quick cup of coffee without having to do a full breakfast. Very convenient!
And service! Wow! Elizabeth and Vita both texted me, I made our reservation, after we checked in. They wanted to know if we had settled in and if we needed anything? This was a first!
This became critical for our stay because unfortunately my husband became very ill during our stay. Both ladies were very concerned and understood we needed to leave a day early so we could return home for medical care.
As anyone who has read my reviews knows, I don’t give favorable reviews unless warranted. The Michelangelo is an older hotel BUT service, location and cleanliness make it an excellent choice nonetheless.
This hotel excels at the important things: value, cleanliness, service and location. I highly recommend it.

Location is superb. And, as a smaller hotel, it is quite and sane.
Couldn't recommend it more highly.

We came for an early Christmas present for ourselves. After reading tons of TripAdvisor reviews on almost every hotel in NYC I picked The Michelangelo!!! And we absolutely Loved it! From the moment you walk into the large grand lobby you feel at ease. All staff were outstanding! We picked a one bedroom suite and were blown away by the size. The bed was so comfortable after walking so many miles per day. And the hotel is walking distance to almost anywhere-central park, theaters, bryant park. Times square ,etc! This may have been our first stay but it’s definitely not our last!!!!

Location is right in Mid Town Manhattan. Perfect for Broadway Shows and shopping
Doormen attentive and helpful.
CONS
Unfortunately, we had two cockroaches in our bathroom on Day 2. Apparently it’s normal in the US as they climb from the drains…
One bar staff quite rude and always had her headphones in. Again, didn’t really bother me (we all have bad days) but this had an impact on our stay.
Two times a domestic walked into our room in the morning. I was half dressed and she said “oh you’re still here”.
Overall wouldn’t return. Would recommend to stay somewhere else.

LOVE this hotel! This was my 4th stay at the Michelangelo, and this will continue to be my home away from home anytime I come to Manhattan.
From the moment you arrive at The Michelangelo, you are greeted with an enthusiastic "Good morning, afternoon, evening, etc." by the doormen. Upon walking into the lobby, the hotel smells amazing and is elegant and beautiful with marble and velvet decor. We arrived very early in the morning, having taken a red-eye flight that we didn't get much sleep on, so we were very tired. Fortunately, they were able to upgrade us to an available suite, so we were able to check in early and take a nap. Everything about this hotel is wonderful. The location, in midtown, is convenient and walking distance to so many places, Broadway, Times Square, Central Park, museums, 5th Ave shopping, and it's an easy and pretty quick subway ride, with subway stations just a block or so from the hotel, to lower Manhattan. The staff are all so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, always greeting you with a smile and willing to help you find the best route to your destination. I would like to single out Henry, one of the bellmen, and Angel and Walter at the front desk. Henry is always so happy and always there to help with whatever you need. He goes above and beyond. Angel and Walter were always friendly and helpful with our needs at the front desk. And I didn't get their names, but the guys working the bar/restaurant are great, too! Every morning when I'd go down to get my morning coffee, they greeted me warmly while they got my coffee to go back up to my room, as well as in the evening when I'd stop and get an espresso martini to take up to my room. The rooms are very spacious for NYC hotel rooms, and the beds are very comfortable. I don't know if the hotel was full when we stayed this time or not, but if it was, I had no idea. I hardly ever saw anyone else and never heard any noise in the hallways or neighboring rooms. I'm already planning my next trip to NYC and of course I'll be staying at The Michelangelo. I highly recommend this hotel!

The rooms are huge (especially in NY standards), very well cleaned and with amazing sound isolation.
The staff is friendly and willing to help.
The only thing missing for a full 5 star rating here is some maintenance to update the style and improve tired carpets and painting.
Best location. Great staff.
Theodore and the team at the hotel are wonderful. We enjoyed our stay. Location is excellent. Rooms are spacious for New York. Walking distance to Times Square and Central Park. Great restaurants around. Highly recommend this hotel and great value.
