We have stayed here several times and have always loved this quirky boutique hotel. Something has changed, and not for the better. We loved the roof top bar and restaurant where quests and locals would mingle and enjoy the sunset. The bar and restaurant is now on the ground floor. They “invite” you to get a drink and then go up to the roof. Really? Does management think this makes a more pleasant experience? And, it seems that management now thinks less is more. Instead of the standard breakfast fare, we now get breakfast “bites.” I read this was to provide more selection. Let’s call it what it is; it is cheaper! You are supposed to be able to partake of cocktails and charcuterie at 3 and then dinner beginning at 5. We had planned to do just that and then watch Thursday night football in the bar. Guess what? Everything was closed, with no explanation.
Staying here is not inexpensive. Patrons deserve the amenities they paid for.
I guess next year I’ll be looking for a hotel that values its guests.

5 star no longer
I and my wife have had the pleasure of staying at the break in Narragansett, RI a few times in various times of the season. We always find top notch staff. The staff is this property highest asset. The rooms are sensational. Ocean view, sunset view it does not matter. The location…Narragansett, RI. Beaches, food, beaches, sun, long walks on the beach and the food. Aunt Carries, the break chair 5, iggys and George’s are a few of the local fare in this area. The pool. The break pool is the finest in this area. Heated year round. Always clean. And there is a sauna. Yes a cute but wonderful sauna. Staff that check one in and out, make suggestions where to eat, put out the chocolate chip cookies, take care of the pool( he’s the best). So many aspects that make the break a past 5 star. But something has changed. It is the complimentary breakfast. A wonderful breakfast with option for all has now been changed to an almost inedible, tasteless cheap breakfast. Next will be raspberry danish and bagels from local supermarket . I understand complimentary is “ free” but it’s part of the room bill. The new breakfast is confusing, tasteless and not satisfying offering. I spoke with other returning guests and they claimed their same dismay. To me this is a cost cutting reaction. Replace a solid and limited menu with tapas of little taste and appeal. I rather have 10% taken off room rate than eat the tasteless tapas. I am sure management will respond that guests enjoys the assortment of offering the tapas provide. My wife and I are truly disappointed in this change. The former complimentary breakfast was Buffett and we never abused this delightful offering of traditional breakfast food which tried to meet the needs of all guest. I can imagine this change came down to costs. I cannot believe it was anything else but this. The break continues to be a wonderful place to stay but no longer the 5 star it has always been

The Break in Narragansett is tucked away on Ocean Road...and worth uncovering!
Visited The Break on Saturday, 5/18 with friends for cocktails and music. The acoustic guitar in the lounge area was lovely, played all the classics!
Old Fashions by the fire were on another level! Wow!
Service and overall ambiance a 12!
Shout out to Jake at the bar...Go Clemson Tigers!

We won a gift certificate for a one night stay and decided to stay for two nights as we traveled from NY. We were welcomed by a very friendly and helpful woman who explained everything to us. Our room was clean and spacious. There was a water machine on the same floor as our room ( and cups in the room to keep). There was also a keurig machine in the room with coffee pods. Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies were set out at night and were delicious. The complementary breakfast was also delicious. I loved the chocolate croissant. All of the staff we encountered were friendly. We tried to use the pool but it was too cold outside to enjoy it. The pool was heated but getting out was dreadful and we lasted about two minutes before running inside. My husband went out the second night to the pool and sauna and enjoyed it. I chickened out🤣. The shower in our room was great as well and the pillows were very comfortable. We would absolutely stay here again.

The retro surfing decor, particularly the vintage surfing pictures were fun, the salt water fish tank is gorgeous. Just lovely.

What a gem!! My husband and I came for a quiet anniversary weekend at the end of October and it was absolutely perfect. The decor is gorgeous both in the public spaces and the rooms. It was very clear someone put love and thought in to the design of this place. The room was everything we could have asked for, with a lovely fireplace, ultra cozy bed, lovely clean bathroom. Just perfect for a romantic getaway. Even though it was off season there were plenty of food options in the area. Did I fail to mention the heated salt water pool and sauna we had all to ourselves? This place is fantastic, I couldn't recommend it more!

The 2 woman at the front desk were so kind and personable and helpful. We had a late arrival and everything was waiting for us. The next day we had a wedding and the front desk manager offered me her sweater. She was dressed beautifully and easy to talk to.
I can’t say enough about Rebecca the bartender at the rooftop bar. This young woman was so knowledgeable about the area, offering us many things to see and do. She couldn’t do enough to make sure we were happy and satisfied. She even offered to comp a drink or 2. She really should be a tour guide for Narragansett! She is somebody you want representing your business! The ultimate hype Queen. Deidre and Joey were just as fabulous in the breakfast room! They were kind, helpful, professional.
Every little detail in the decor was well thought out and beautiful. I’m obsessed with all of it. Such a homey yet classy feel that lived up to the beach vibe. We didn’t get to go in the pool but it’s heated all year round and looked so inviting!
The views were beautiful, everything was so clean and omg.. the cookie jar in the hallway with freshly baked cookies???!! What a treat!
We will be comparing every place we go to … to The Break!
Loved every minute of our stay!

The Break Hotel is the perfect place to stay for a getaway with your significant other, or family! My husband and I went to the Break in October of 2022 for a few days after our wedding, we enjoyed our stay so much that we returned again for our first anniversary. The staff definitely does what they can to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The accommodations are top notch as well, from the fireplace in each room, the extremely soft sheets, to the rain shower head in the bathroom it all feels luxurious. It was a bit chilly outside for both of our stays, but we still utilized the heated pool and sauna.
The fresh cookies each night in the hallway cookie jar are just the topping on the perfect cake!

What a wonderful experience at a beautiful property. So many details are attended to perfectly. The decor is attractive & soothing, landscaping, plantings & waterfall by the pool, spacious, quiet room, floating mats & noodles for the heated pool, fireplaces, complimentary bikes & beach chairs, breakfast & cookies!!! No nickel & diming here, just gracious, welcoming hospitality at its finest. 3rd floor suite balcony had multiple views of the ocean and lighthouse. The soothing sounds of ocean waves and the pool waterfall were just lovely. Take a walk down the short street and see the surfers and waves on the rocks-puts you in the New England mindset. Plenty of restaurants, essential stores, beaches and biking areas right there. Hotel location is perfect, on a quiet road but close to everything. We took the ferry to Block Island for a day and drove over to Newport for another day. Jack-o-lantern spectacular in Providence and Sand Sculpture competition in Westerly - this hotel was a great home base. We just loved it and didn’t want to leave!

We enjoyed our stay at the Break Hotel as usual. The hotel and staff are lovely. The spa services are fantastic. Dale gives amazing massages and facials. We look forward to going back soon. It's a great place to unwind and relax.
Spent six nights at this fab hotel in Rhode Island. The staff are all so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The room was lovely, beautifully decorated with a balcony. Breakfast was good and we also ate at Chair 5 at the top which was good and has gorgeous views.
From the tasteful yet chic decor to the helpful staff to the cleanliness, well done all around. We were here to celebrate an anniversary and recent retirement and could not have enjoyed the hotel more. Fluffy pillows…..Deep soaking tub…, Comfortable king sized bed…...Hot, hot water…,. Local chocolate to welcome us.....

INCREDIBLY UNFRIENDLY STAFF! DO NOT BOOK A RESERVATION HERE! I had an issue with a sick child, and the manager was extremely condescending and had a rude tone, and was talking back to me like a teenager! Do yourself a favor and take your stay elsewhere!
Terrific staff, lovely rooms, a wonderful getaway. Small hotel, I believe only 16 rooms. Attention to the small details, even have a cookie jar with fresh baked cookies in the afternoon. Heated outdoor pool too. Close to the beaches and dining, but in it's own cozy corner of Narragansett

The Break is the epitome of what “boutique” means. This small and friendly hotel is a gem in southern Rhode Island. The decor evokes ocean waves with stylish turquoise textiles, dappled light fixtures and an exotic entrance with a stunning aquarium. The spa treatment ( we did a couples Hot stone special) was exceptional with both masseuses giving a wonderful warming and invigorating treatment. Breakfast was scrumptious in the stylish Bistro room. Even though it was January and raining it felt like we were in Miami for the most part!!
Loved it !!
