We would like to say a big thank you to Shaun in reception area helping us with trying to sort out the new duty free system which has currently gone on line...which didn't work well. So we ended up doing at the airport, heads up, you need to do it before going through any passport checks/security checks,,,!!!

The overriding memory of our stay at this hotel was the inordinate time spent queuing, firstly to check and then having to return a second time to collect our room key as rooms were not available at the time of arrival. In both of these instances we waited more than 20 minutes. Things weren’t much better when it came to check out. The hotel was obviously operating at near capacity and staff were struggling to cope!
Not the greatest room, difficult to use our electrical adapters in the wall plugs, a bit of initiative was required to keep them plugged in. Amazingly there are no USB plugs, which is surprising in this day and age. Getting water and particularly soap for our room was particularly challenging.
The pool is very small for the size of the hotel and it was difficult to get a sun bed.
On a more positive note, the staff were always extremely friendly and professional, even though they seemed overwhelmed. The shuttle to/from the Waterfront was excellent. It was a bonus that cold drinks and snacks were always available in the lobby.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. I always enjoy staying at the Cullinan. The refurbishment is good but it’s quite obvious that they didn’t pay attention to details. The reception area looks grand. But the rooms are lacking.
The bathroom door handle was loose and the newly painted furniture is already peeling. Obviously quality control is lacking.
We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet.
The shuttle bus was again a problem. Arrival and departure was erratic. Not good to promise and not deliver.
I still enjoyed my stay and will definitely choose the Cullinan

My front desk experience on check in detracted from the excellence of all other Hotel Staff!
The Staff were casual and unprofessional in my opinion causing my stress and delaying me for over 30 minutes.
I have been coming here for over 20 years from Hermanus and so this was clearly very surprising.
I did highlight this in writing during my stay to Anthony Christen - in charge of reception.
I received an explanation, but no apology despite staying for 3 days!!
The pianist Mike, breakfast and bar service Staff and the shuttle bus drivers were faultless.
Well done!
Our room on Floor 12 was very comfortable , ready early and quiet.
Thank you!
Returning in 2 weeks and hoping for a better initial welcome!

The Cullinan is as warm and welcoming as it is elegant. It is well located near the V&A Waterfront — in fact, the hotel has a shuttle to the V&A that leaves on the hour and returns on the half hour throughout the day. It is also close by the cruise terminal, a plus for those taking a cruise out of Cape Town. But it’s also a great jumping off point for other sights in and around the city. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. (Ours had a beautiful view of Table Mountain.). There are wonderful dining options for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the hotel, and the staff is gracious, friendly and helpful. This is a great choice for a stay on Cape Town.
