Nothing at Silver Birches is as it appears or as promised on their website! We were DECEIVED wasting almost $1000 ( not including meals and drinks!) on our 2 day Labor Day weekend trip.
Silver Birches time has passed or maybe it never was the idyllic vintage “Best Resort” in the Poconos. the website falsely claims - the tired unkempt grounds ,the sparse lawn and Adirondack chairs covered in goose poop and neglected, crumbling walkways and buildings in need of paint or at the very least power washing to clean the clapboard siding and remove the moss on the roofs putting beautiful lake Wallenpaupack to shame!
Our room at “The Lakeshore” Room L2 - promised a view of the Lake - if you could call it a view it was obstructed by an enormous weed bush and the still standing trunk of a dead tree. The balcony was uninviting not private and offered plastic flimsy chairs that had to be wiped down- upon entry- I wanted to check out as soon as I entered our musty moldy and damp room!!! Far from the cozy promise of the website… w 2 uncomfortable small chairs too big for the space - If that was considered a 2016 renovation- it’s time for another one- Or at the very least provide a functional dresser, and a real closet- not a broom closet with a full bag of damp rid in it. The bathroom was almost bigger than the room - the shower design forced water out on to the floor- unless you kept your
body up against the shower wall! I spent half my morning mopping up the water w the 2 robes we never used!
And the mini split air conditioner was loud and constant. The windows barely opened to let fresh air in and lacked screens-
I could go on and on .,,
The worst disappointment was the mistake I made booking a dinner reservation with Patricia at silver birches by phone because of issues with their RESY app- she highly recommended the Glass restaurant at the Ledges hotel- I was so excited to sit by the waterfall! We looked so forward to our date night! We took a shuttle to the restaurant and upon arrival the reservation was never booked for us!!! We were told it happens a lot at Silver Birches. The shuttle bus driver who works for the settler’s hospitality group llc - was so upset she contacted silver birches to tell them but no one apologized for our inconvenience/disappointment.
Oh the adult pool was dirty. A clump of hair on the pool gate no one on staff seemed to notice, the live music was painfully loud, the drinks at the pool side bar were weak and expensive- our lunch order never arrived.
The kayaks ,canoes that we paid for as a required fee but never used were just on the ground piled together- no rhyme or reason-
While attempting to relax on the disgusting bird poop covered Adirondack chairs a staff member replaced a moldy worn corn hole game w a new one.
Again, we were deceived by the website. If there is an award for Best Fake Website-
Silver Birches wins it hands down.

Billed as a vintage hotel is code for "old furniture" . We paid $400 per night in September partial off season for 1 room, not a suite and a $30 per nite resort fee for I guess the pools. The room, if it had not been on the lake with a nice view, would have been about an $80 per night of shabbly value. For $400 I'd expect drawers that actually slide, patched wall not repainted, and a college dorm small refrig. not to mention the shower which was more like a trickle with a hand held that doesnt allow you to get fully under the shower. The silver lining-Luckily, the weather was great and we spent little time in the room. The hillside adirondack chairs overlooking the lakeview was stunning and the Sunday outdoor live music was wonderful and made for a great afternoon. Staff was very friendly and accomodating at the front desk and concession stand/bar. Although, the daily "free" breakfast was still outdoors from 8-10 in 60 degree weather and the breakfast was hands down the worst spread i have ever seen. One main choice of some kind of egg lasagna a few sweets and tasteless coffee. The best was your plate was those flimsy white paper plates from picnics from days of yore. That must have been the vintage part. The overall experience was worth maybe $250/night making $400 highway 6 robbery. Perhaps there were other more updated rooms and we were just unlucky but the whole place can use a makeover and good cleaning. I do think that for a young family a lot of fun can be had here in the summer as its spread out and has the pools and free lake things like canoes and kayaks, but not a place for older couples.

The internet can be very deceiving. This place said recently renovated. However, not all of it. Our room L4 had a new bathroom. Really nice. The main room had not been renovated. The woodwork was in need of cleaning and paint was needed around windows. The screens had holes and bugs allover outside due to the light next to door. I understand the light attracts bugs but they did not clean up the outside area by our room. The chairs were covered in bug waste that I had to clean before could use. The light should be moved. So if rent a room get one with no light by door. Not all rooms have this problem. The curtains need cleaning. They were dusty, with spiders and webs. The bed was terrible.
Now for grounds. Canadian goose crap all about. Had to watch your step. The pools are very nice and clean. On the grounds have mostly adirondak chairs and they are not comfortable for everyone. There is not much choice to sit in something else and you got plastic chairs that would use at a table to sit on by your room. Not something you could relax on and ready a book or paint.
Most of the grounds not very handicap accessible so beware. Parking isn't grand. We got continental breakfast with our reservation but we went to the diner. The breakfast at Best Western is fabulous if comparing it to this place. For the price you pay they should have someone making you omelets. The breakfast is served outside at the pool bar area weather permitting. Nice but not enough tables and the table in our room was not high enough for eating or anything else. Not much variety in yogurt flavors. Fruit choice was an orange or apple each day. Nothing seasonal. Pastries not very fresh. Muffins had gotten soggy and they are really small. If the weather had been bad I did not see a grand alternative and like I mentioned the table in our room was not condusive to eating at.
It did appear that many people love the place and do return but that will not be us.
We have stayed many place all over the world and this is at low end on our list. We did not feel we got what we paid for.

It was my birthday weekend and my husband surprised me, but surprise which he saw on pictures was not even close to what we came to. So for 1200$ for 2 nights we were given keys to a different location which was 5 mn away from the main location. It was a terrible dream disaster coming true, I wish I could take more pictures of an actual room just besides the broken doors, very dirty outdoor area etc. Dust was all over the place like they never clean the building, spider web was hanging from the ceilings, dirty bed, dirty dusty lamps, windows, outside area and you can go on. We refused to take that horrible room and surprisingly lovely employees gave us a cottage house which was at the main location, super nice and clean, the only minus jacuzzi was not working but we were glad that they were kind enough to provide us better place otherwise we were ready to leave. Location is not bad. Just a lot of questions to the manager why such treatment to the guests? I’m surprised people are not calling an organization to shut the other location down.

With the autumn foliage in full color, what a great time of the year to stay at this beautiful lake front resort! We enjoyed the comforts and lake view of the premium deluxe king room, which to our delight did include a mini fridge with fresh half & half for the coffee. As a special touch, the host offered us their sunset champagne toast before sunset because we had dinner reservations. The breakfast tray generously offered juice, fruit, muffins, hard boiled eggs, and yogurt with granola. I wish the website mentioned that the hot tub was still open because we would have brought our bathing suits. Overall, the room was clean, the hosts were kind and helpful, and the property was stunning.

Sherry, who works in the office, and does a fantastic job of taking care of guests, , was so friendly and nice! We really enjoyed sitting by the fire pit, watching the sunset and enjoying a glass of champagne. The breakfast tray in the morning was such a nice added touch. Definitely recommend and would love to come back!

Worst experience. Outdated property, poor customer service. The owners don’t care, basking in the glory of the past.

Mattresses are saggy, constant noise from bathroom flush, old carpets…didn’t feel like a 4-star resort they are claiming to be. Yet, they charge like a 5-start resort (off-season rate was $330/night)!
