This resort has an amazing beach location and it is super fun to play in the surf here. The resort itself, however, has no personality whatsoever. Walking to our room, I’m thinking the vibe is “fortress.” Gardens/grounds nicely tended so that’s a plus. We are in a studio lockoff. Everything is very cramped and once again, the room has nearly no personality. Furniture looks like laminate footlockers with lots of dings and peeling surfaces. The resort has two pool areas with not nearly enough lounge chairs for how big the resort is. We are here in a not busy season yet cannot seem to find an open lounge chairs except in full sun which is not our favorite. Next time we come to Poipu we will skip this resort for something with a little bit of charm and more room. We are Vistana owners and this place doesn’t compare well with the other Vistana resorts we have been to.

Sheraton Kauai Resort is a beautiful resort. We stayed for a week and had a wonderful time. The ocean location is gorgeous, the staff was friendly and helpful. We had great meals at Rumfire and Lava’s. We would recommend this resort to anyone coming to Kauai. We have stayed at several places on Kauai, and this is one of the best. Our room and bathroom were lovely and updated. A special thanks to our concierge Tiana who took excellent care of us. The waitstaff at Lavas was excellent too. The activities with Tammy were fun. Thanks so much for a great stay

Owner and platinum elite member here. Don’t be fooled by the nice pics - this place is old, dark, and crappy. It’s way too expensive for what you get. Wish we had stayed at Marriott’s Autograph Collection Koloa Landing Resort instead. A/c in one room was super noisy with a big loud clunk every time it turned on all night. The hallways were dark & ugly with heavy stucco like a cheap 70’s motel. Then after we moved rooms, the next rooms a/c thermostat was broken and we had a messy view of the pool worker area and constant heavy foot traffic right outside our second floor balcony with all those people walking by being able to see right into our room. Worst anniversary stay ever! Fortunately we enjoyed our time in Princeville prior to the nightmare stay here.

We have just returned from our second trip to the Sheraton Kawaii resort. The hotel is beautiful. It’s oceanfront, has beautiful views and gorgeous sunsets, the rooms are spacious and the staff is very friendly. It is a beautiful property, but our experience was made wonderful by an employee named Qian. We had gotten to know her when we were at this beautiful hotel last December. She is lovely and kind and compassionate. She really took amazing care of us. She totally went out of her way to help us. Our highest recommendations go to her.

The Sheraton Kauai is located in the perfect location on an amazing beach. We were lucky and saw two Hawaiian Monk Seals, sunning themselves on the beach, during our stay. The grounds are lush and beautiful and the resort is especially great at night for walking. There are multiple fire pits and a large and very clean pool, steps from the ocean. There is a second pool on the property, but we didn't visit it. Our room was large and very clean, with a nice balcony. We had a very nice dinner at Rum Fire and enjoyed the live music. Thank you to Shari for helping us with a small matter during our stay.

The Good - The resort amenities and grounds are lovely and well maintained. The Rum Fire restaurant is fabulous! The check in staff were friendly and efficient, though the room was not ready until exactly 4 pm; I checked at 3:52pm (different staff member, and first time I checked since we did our initial check in at 1 pm), who said "well we still have a few minutes!". Our studio room is across the street from the ocean (timeshare units, worse location than the hotel), but still a nice view. Lavas is just okay for breakfast, but the sunrise views from there are stunning. The gym is clean, well equipped, and well maintained. Location is close to Merrimens and The Table restaurants, and some good shops - all within a mile, and an easy walk. I love that there is a great yoga class included everyday at 9am, and the teachers are wonderful with the great location on the lawn right in front of the ocean. The concierge, Bart, was very knowledgable and helpful.
The not as good: our room had old food in the microwave. The toilet had used tissue in it. The partition in the room is dusty. The microwave gives a "service may be needed, steam sensor" continual beep warning until it's reset when the beverage heat setting is used, and the stove top takes about 1/2 hour to heat water; all were reported on our first day...and still no response upon check out at day four.
All in all, a nice stay, and we like this resort, but very disappointed in the room cleanliness and room appliances maintenance (and other than a sincere sounding apology upon reporting, nothing was offered or done about it).
Moved onto the Grand Hyatt, and what a difference!

We went for our 25th anniversary - left the kids at home. We were a bit concerned over prior reviews around strikes, service, etc. We had an excellent experience. Our room was a deluxe ocean front room and the view was spectacular. We ate at the Lava restaurant regularly for breakfast and one dinner. Service can be on 'island time' at times, but the staff are great. The location couldn't be better and we would definitely stay again. There are a lot of families with kids at this resort, but this wasn't a concern for us.

Visit Hawaii yearly past 20. Longtime Marriott owners, so thought we would do 4 days here since the merge. BAD IDEA! NOT on par w/our ownership level in any way, shape or form w/Marriott quality! "Villa" was a tiny tiny "living room" w/old, uncomfortable, outdated sofabed & equally uncomfortable chair. NO table anywhere to eat! No place to put groceries, either. BTW, coffee maker but NO coffee filters, necessitating a trip to market! Toaster & dishwasher didn't work. "Bathroom" was a closet-sized shower to the left of the entry door - vanity was adjacent to the kitchen, separated by a decorative wall. Positively NO PLACE to put luggage! In fact, my husband had to hang his clothes in the broom closet by the entry door. Carpet outdated & worn. Spent our 4 nights stumbling over open suitcases in the "living room." Bedroom was quiet, cool & comfy bed BUT NO PLACE to put suitcases & only tiny wardrobe - not lighted - for a few hanging things. Lanai was spacious but horribly uncomfortable chairs. View was garden & rooms other side. The pretty side of this place was across the street on the hotel side. The positives: beautiful sunsets on hotel side. Spacious parking. Working AC that keeps master BR cool & comfy, quiet. Warm & inviting staff. That's it! Have NEVER posted a review this negative, but given the experience, it's more than appropriate. $ for $, this Sheraton "timeshare villa" is severely substandard to Marriott quality. Comparatively, we spent the remaining 4 nights in Princeville at The Westin and it was superb in every way! IMO, this resort may be perfect for those wanting only beachtime across the street and eating out. Other than that, that's it! Waste of 4 nights!

Stayed here after an amazing experience at Sheraton Maui. Safe to say they are NOT consistent. Started with being told our room was reserved for someone else and forced to get another room. And only a $50 dinner comp for this? Find out that was just a lie and our room wasn’t ready… the entire stay was unpleasant. The restaurant by the pool was horrible service every single day with subpar overpriced food. The restaurant for dinner is only open Thursday - Sunday maybe? would never stay here again, the management offered zero help with just a “sorry” and nothing more.

Wonderful, peaceful paradise on the beach. We loved this resort. The grounds were stunning, the pools were inviting & the people were absolutely lovely. There is a private beach with stunning clear water for swimming & surfing. We even had a Hawaiian Monk Seal come up & sleep on the beach just feet away from us. Lava’s restaurant had the best food. We recommend the nachos, island salad with mahi mahi & uncle’s burger after a long day at the beach or pool. Absolutely loved our stay here. We hope to be back in the future.

We had a very beautiful room; it was kept very clean. The view of the ocean was unbelievably beautiful. Food at casual restaurant, Lavas, was Ok; good for breakfast. Concierge was very helpful with other restaurants in the area. The hotel was near 2 shopping malls.

We had a terrible experience at the Sheraton Kauai Resort and I strongly advise against staying here. Unfortunately, prior to our arrival, the staff went on strike. What made it worse was that we weren’t notified about this at any point before we got there. Upon arrival, we were not offered a single accommodation or any type of explanation. When we inquired, we were simply told to contact the corporate office. After multiple attempts, we finally reached Nikki Joseph, who informed us that Sheraton had no intention of addressing the poor conditions we were experiencing and that they would not offer any compensation.
The state of the resort was appalling. There was trash scattered everywhere, the pool was filthy, all the restaurants were closed, and housekeeping services were non-existent. While some of these issues were clearly tied to the ongoing strike, it was also painfully obvious that the resort has been neglected and mismanaged for years.
To charge over $800 a night under these conditions and not offer any sort of discount or accommodation is, frankly, unacceptable. It's incomprehensible that they expect guests to feel like they’re getting the full resort experience under such circumstances. Although the strike may have ended by now, the poor management and lack of customer care won’t simply vanish overnight. This is an underlying issue that seems deeply ingrained in how this resort operates.
Save yourself the trouble and disappointment – look elsewhere when booking your stay in Kauai.

I felt this hotel used misleading descriptions and is really not great value. Despite being close to the water, the terms "deluxe" and "luxury" do not fit this hotel at all. The rooms are tired and dated. We had what seemed to be a herd of elephants above us and the late night neighborly shouted expletive conversations at one another, in graphic detail, were of limited entertainment value. We checked out after one night, which yes, cost a night's stay, but was worth it for our sanity. I had contacted the Concierge about trying to upgrade our room and found that all a $120 extra would get was 20 Sq Ft of the same. Why? If you want luxury, don't do this to yourself, there are much better out there. This was a disappointing mistake.

The oceanfront deluxe room made this stay incredible. We were in the Ocean Wing and the view from the balcony was incredible, we loved having our own happy hour on our lanai. We had the valet option, but the ocean wing is so close to self parking that we found it convenient to use. We didn't use the pool much. It seemed busy during the day but was fairly empty around dinner time. We did a mix of activities around the island and found this location to be convenient. I'm not sure the price point would have been worth it for other rooms that didn't have ocean view. Staff were helpful and friendly at check-in. Overall, it was a nice stay.
