Hilton Vacation Club The Point At Poipu Kauai

We were in Kaua'i for our second time in August 2026. We stayed in Princeville on the north shore this time and decided to come down and explore the west side (Waimea Canyon) and south shore. Instead of driving all the way down and back, we booked a room at this property using a mix of points and cash. We were given an upgraded ocean front room (9102). All the rooms at this property are "suites" in that they have multiple beds/bedrooms and a common space. This property is undergoing a major renovation to each room and building. Our room was located in Building 9, on the Shipwreck beach side, and it appears that this building had been completely renovated. At least our room was and it was beautiful. A few hiccups here and there with the construction happening around us, but any issues/concerns that we had were well taken care of by Erin at the front desk. The pool area is beautiful as it is surrounded by sand. The pool bar staff was outstanding and we found the prices on food and drinks to be more than fair. We were able to talk to Poipu one morning and see a great sunrise along the way and also take an easy walk over to Shipwreck. There is a small locker room located near the pool that came in handy for getting cleaned up before our evening flight on the day that we left. There is no doubt this place will be great once the updates/construction are done and the next time we are in the area we will not hesitate to book. Mahalo Erin and team.

I stayed at a 2 bedroom unit for the last week of July in Building 4. Location: The Point at Poipu is in a centralized location. It's right next door to the Grand Hyatt but doesn't have it's own beach access. There is a walking path that links to the Grand Hyatt beach. However, right in front of the Point at Poipu is some rocky bluff. As for the location, there are plenty of good places for shopping and restaurants within 10 minutes drive. It is about 45 minutes south of the Lihue airport. Facility: The other reviews are right. This location is a bit old and many of the rooms are undergoing renovation. We got a renovated room and it's nice but nothing special to write home about. It can comfortable sleep 6 with a sofa bed. Room - the 2 room were a decent size. One had a king size bed (very comfortable) and the other had 2 twin size beds. There's a sofa bed in the living room. The one limitation is that there are only 2 wall AC units (one in each room). This means the living room can get a little warm. Each room has plenty of USB A and USB C plugs that are part of the lamps or built into the dressers. Each room had a large TV. The room comes with a washer/dryer, pots, pans, electric range / oven, and microwave. Plenty of utensil and plates, cups, etc. There is one large pool that's more of a play pool and lounging. Building 4 is more near the adult hot tub and is a bit of a walk to the main pool. There is a fitness room which has plenty of equipment. There are cardio and plenty of weight machines. The facility has plenty of outdoor grills that get cleaned every morning which is great. We used them all the time. Hint: They have filter water stations all over the facility so no need to purchase a bunch of water. For kids, the front desk hands out fish food that the kids can use to feed the fish in the ponds. My kids had so much fun just doing this.

Rain shower head in both bathrooms and big tub in master was nice. Pool. Love the wading pool 2-4ft deep walk straight in from sand surrounding pool Lava rock for ambiance around pool use of towels and pool floats free. Suntan lotion for purchase. Bar & grill at pool: the only onsite restaurant Great service great drinks & good choices on menu Open 8am-8pm during our stay Around resort: tiered koi ponds and waterfalls and plumeria trees were beautiful! Several benches picnic tables & bbqs to use throughout resort Service: awesome staff Great service from Leah at front desk to Matt the greater and staff to take our luggage to room in golf cart We Love our stay here. Nicely appointed condo with great customer service, prompt responses to any maintenance requests, and beautiful renovated rooms. Pretty walking paths by the ocean. Our “partial ocean view” room looked across a lawn to the ocean, beds very comfortable, A/C worked, .7 mile easy walk to Poipu Beach. Next to the Grand Hyatt and Shipwreck Beach. Biggest con is a single mediocre shallow pool that isn’t even 4’ deep, more suitable for kids than adults, and the noise from rooms above is somewhat annoying.

We have stayed at this resort every two years or so for the last 10 years. We enjoy the area and the resort. Some of the interior could be refurbished but for the most part we come to enjoy the island, the people and the area. Sometimes there is an issue with the operation of one of the elevators but the staff are always accommodating and go out of their way to make your stay pleasant.

Just returned from a fun staycation at The Point. While we were not in an updated unit, the space was large and perfect for our family of 4 (two young kids). The unit is showing its age with cracked tiles and stains on some of the furniture and rust stains on the appliances, but the unit comes fully furnished with mostly all that you could need. The wifi was a little sketchy and we couldn't always connect, but we were able to use data so not really a big factor. We never had any issues with parking as there seemed to be a lot of parking close to our unit. The pool is quite a distance from Building #1, but the grounds are well maintained and the various ponds and waterfalls make the walk enjoyable. The kid-friendly pool is large and shallow with enough seats/shade while we were there (the pool I think only goes to 4.5' deep). While not used much by others, our kids really had a lot of fun in the pool. The bathrooms by the pool also have nice showers and a small locker room so it was nice to shower off in warm water. The front desk also supplies fish food which our kids loved to feed all the fish in the ponds. The Honu Cove Bar & Grill on site had really good food and overall reasonable especially since it's in a hotel in Poipu and they also gave good portions. Overall we really enjoyed our time here! We did get to see an updated unit which was really nice with vinyl floors and an updated kitchen. We hope to come back again!

We stayed at the Point at Poipu in Kauai for 7 nights during the second week of January 2026. It was our third trip to Poipu, but our first time staying at this property. Before we arrived, we read mixed reviews from other travelers, but we had an amazing experience, and would definitely come back! LOCATION: Our room was on the 3rd (of 4) floors of building 6, which had a balcony facing Shipwreck Beach, the pretty mountains behind it, and had a lovely view of the ocean. QUALITY: Ours was a newly renovated, spacious suite, so the quality and condition were great. The furniture, appliances, and beds were like new. ROOMS: The two-bedroom unit had one room with a king bed, dresser, and walk-in closet with safe, plus an ensuite bathroom with 2-sink vanity, large soaking tub, and sizable shower with AMAZING water pressure! The second bedroom had a double bed, dresser, and closet with a detached smaller (but still nice) bathroom with a single sink and a shower. LIVING & DINING AREA: There was a couch and 2 chairs, plus a 6-person dining table. The chairs and couch were in great condition, but could have used some extra throw pillows for lumbar support. KITCHEN: The kitchen had everything we needed, including a full-size refrigerator, full-size stove & oven, microwave, and dishwasher. There was a coffee maker with coffee, sugar & creamer provided. They provided all of the basic dishes, utensils, and pots and pans that we needed. WASHER/DRYER: Our unit had a laundry closet with an apartment-sized stacked washer/dryer that worked efficiently. The laundry detergent was provided. PATIO: Ours had a 4-person round patio table, and one lounge chair - all seemed new, and we ate breakfast on the patio every morning, where we were greeted by friendly little birds. PARKING: The parking area was an easy walk to our unit, with a lovely view of the ocean and Nene birds along the way. The elevator in our building was broken, but we didn't mind the easy walk up the stairs to our floor. POOL AREA: There is a main pool with a sandy area around it that also included a large hot tub. There is also an "adult" hot tub area on the property. DINING: One downside of the Point at Poipu is that there is only one place to eat/drink on site - the small unrenovated pool bar. However, the service there is amazing with wonderfully hospitable bartenders, so we enjoyed going every night for happy hour! ACTIVITIES: Poipu Beach is an easy 1-mile walk or drive. Great snorkeling there, with a healthy reef, many fish, sea turtles, and monk seals. The Spouted Horn Blow Hole and the National Botanical Garden is about 4.5 miles (which is a great run, if you enjoy running). SHOPPING RECOMMENDATION: We stopped at Costco and Safeway in Lihue to stock up on some food and drinks before driving to Poipu. Prices are better there (and there is also a Walmart and Target nearby in Lihue).

The room we had was a 2br/2ba. Plenty spacious for my family of 4 and we loved having the kitchen. The amenities at the resort are minimal, which we knew going in. The hotel is oceanfront but not beachfront. Beautiful views but if you want the beach right outside your door, you’re better off elsewhere. I also wouldn’t bother paying extra for an oceanfront room as you’re still a good 50-100 meters away. The beach is an easy 10 minute walk away at the Hyatt next door. A well-paved path gets you there easily. The people at the pool hut and pool bar were very friendly. The front desk maybe not as friendly, but they got everything needed done. We stayed for a week and housekeeping never came, despite us being told they’d come mid-week. Our room was not updated, but it was totally fine. It was worn but clean and fully functional. It looks like the hotel is in transition to boost it up a bit. I recommend and would stay here again. Hopefully the housekeeping and friendliness kinks are worked out by next time. Good location with plenty of shopping, restaurants, and other beaches within a 10-15 minute drive. You’ll definitely need a car at this hotel (and pretty much anywhere on the island).

Property is still undergoing renovation by Hilton Vacation Club. 4 of 10 buildings appear to be complete. We stayed in an unrenovated building but it was near the pool & bar/restaurant so it was offset. Suite was clean & well furnished, just well-worn, especially in the kitchen. The one time we needed maintenance for the bathroom, facilities tech was there within the hour & fixed it. Really nice landscaped property overall. Nice walking path over to the Grand Hyatt. Good location for access to Poipu activities.

We enjoyed our stay at the Point, a very laid back atmosphere, spread out resort, beautiful grounds, lovely pools and spacious condo with beautiful views. Our 2 bedroom ocean view condo was a little outdated in design, but it functioned well, was maintained and comfortable for our family. We even spotted whales, a pod of dolphins and many turtles off the lanai. Staff was friendly and accommodating, the food at the pool was priced decently and tasty. We would come back and recommend this place for people who enjoy quiet stays, conveniently located with breathtaking views.
