What a wonderful place to stay or stop for a great meal! We only spent one night in their very comfortable and gorgeous cabins, but it was fantastic! A beautiful setting with so many options if you want to hike or take a helicopter ride. The restaurant served some of the best food we ate during our entire 10 days of traveling in Alaska. Highly recommend!

We stayed at Sheep Mountain Lodge for two nights in June, 2024 and enjoyed our stay. The cabins are first-class with everything we needed including full kitchen, plenty of hot water and fans. We ate several meals at the restaurant and enjoyed the food. We hiked the trails on the property. We saw moose in the area but did not see any on the property during our hikes. The locals say the moose are like squirrels in that area. We were close to Matanuska Glacier and the Twin Lakes Area. We would definitely stay here again.

While there, do whatever it takes to schedule a helicopter tour, one of the best experiences of your life, guaranteed. Landing on the glacier is a wonderful experience.

We wanted to explore east of Anchorage. This was great home base for our touring and hiking. Stayed three nights. Terrific quiet, private modern cabin and view with full kitchen! The restaurant’s food was outstanding. Wonderful owners!!

Wonderful view, comfy bed, great kitchen. No TV but that's what we were looking for. Room service was great. Convenient for the glacier tour we took the next day . Really happy we chose to stay here.

Best cabin/stay of our 3 week trip: Sheep's Moutain Lodge Premier cabin. Enroute from Palmer we hiked the Mining Area and Hatcher's Pass in Sutton. Checked in late afternoon to our Premier cabin. Great first impression of the large space that consists of a well-stocked kitchen,keurig pot with great tasting coffee pods,small bathroom, eating space for 6, sitting/pull-out couch, really comfy beds, great views, and even binoculars (Bushnell) to use. Great view out our window of the changing mountains. Viewed fall colors under the snowcaps to first snow-fall. Saw the Dall Sheep (with the binoculars) on the mountains while hiking. The small restaurant had amazing food. Favorites: Halibut eggs benedict, 3 berry crunch, seafood fettucini, soudough french toast, and cappacinos. Loved every server we came into contact with. Beautiful smiles, personalities, and pride in their work.

Waiters are friendly but waiting 1-2 hours for breakfast was a bit much and I almost had to just get up and leave. Otherwise I definitely recommend a stay here! Make sure to hike the trails behind the lodge!

We only stayed 1 night at Sheep Mountain Lodge but, it was perfect for our time in the Matanuska Glacier area. We hiked the glacier the next morning. Our room was spotless and the view was amazing! We had a room without a private bath but, it was fine. The bath building was just steps from our room and each room section in the bath building had a private shower, toilet and sink. Would love to stay here again!!

Stayed two nights, so had 4 meals, and each was very good. Must have the berry tart, it's awesome. Friendly service, excellent food. I get tired when we are forced to be wordy and waste time to right and read!

10 out of 10! Would highly recommend. Great property, friendly staff, clean updated room. We had three tasty meals at the restaurant. Good local beer selection, specialty coffee options, homeade desserts!

This is a quaint group of cabins near Matanuska Glacier. No TV but the views and ambience totally make up for it. The cabins are clean and bright with comfortable bed, mini fridge and microwave. Worth a great nights sleep!! Very quiet and comfortable.

The visit here was perfect! The Mountain House was a wonderful place to stay, the restaurant food was absolutely delicious and the staff were delightful and efficient. Such a joy meeting and visiting with Mark, the owner, who shared so much information about the area. We hated leaving!!!
