We visited Sable Alley in early January 2025, and while the trip itself was excellent, getting there via self-drive was an absolute nightmare.
The camp was stunning, with clean and beautifully designed rooms, professional and polite staff, and game drives that were nothing short of amazing. The guides were experienced and made sure we had eventful safaris, spotting a wide variety of wildlife.
However, the journey to the camps was a major downside. The roads had extremely poor signage, and on multiple occasions, we got completely lost with no cellular signal to help us navigate. To make matters worse, the roads were in terrible condition, riddled with waterholes that made driving a real challenge. We had to rely heavily on strangers for directions, which added stress to what should have been an enjoyable start to the trip.
Despite the difficulties in reaching the camps, the experience at Sable Alley was worth it.

There is a nice dipping pool for all and showers in and outside the cabins. The room has turn down services with hot bottles and hot water for morning coffee/tea.
The service was exceptional from Mrs P.’s greeting, excellent meals from Chef KT (and team), the service professionals- bar none!
We were extremely fortunate to have Steeze as our guide. His tracking ability was excellent and knowledgeable too.
We saw lions, leopards, elephants, jackals, hyenas, wild dogs, giraffe, zebra, and warthogs just to name a few.
Steeze knows his birds, ecology, and tribal history as he grew up in a near by village.
Be sure to ask Steeze about photographing too. My husband knows a good deal about photography but he learned so much from Steeze.
Pula!

It was great to see at first hand the work that Natural Selection are doing with young people from the community with Wild Shots Outreach – they are really uplifting the community and walking the talk. Well done Natural Selection.

The rooms and common space are modern, spic and span clean, well appointed, and comfortable. The food was the best we had on our trip (the reason for my 10lb weight gain :))--everything was delicious and they catered to our veg diet without missing a beat. I cannot say enough good things about this property and the amazing staff--thank you for such a fantastic holiday!
Note: wifi only works in common spaces, but works great there!

The lodge is in a gorgeous spot of the delta with an excellent view. It felt intimate and private, yet warm and homey. The game drives and the dugout canoe safari had excellent guiding. Our guide, Steeze, had an impressive scope of knowledge and incredibly sharp eyes - he was able to spot and track animals with great confidence. The staff and hospitality were world class. The cuisine was terrific and the kindness and energy of the staff was impossible to miss. I would definitely recommend a trip to the sky beds: it was the highlight of my safari. You see the milky way and shooting stars over a watering hole that hosts elephants and some lions throughout the night. The walking safari in the bush with Zambo while there is also very interesting and offers a completely different view of the bush than from the land cruiser (the plants, animal tracks, etc.). The experience is hard to describe, but would highly recommend. My fiancé did not sleep as well that night with all of the activity, but I was the most relaxed I had ever been and slept harder than ever. I would like to return to the delta outside of dry season, and absolutely plan to stay here again.

This lodge is stunning. You're first greeted by friendly faces and an open main area which overlooks a watering hole with tons of animals. Sable Alley has delicious food and tons of choices. There's a pool and lounge areas to use at your leisure. Our room was very well decorated, spacious, and comfy. They provided everything we needed and even did our laundry. There's even an outdoor shower. The safaris were a showstopper though. We saw every animal that we were hoping to spot. One day, I'd mention that I'd love to see a lion... Next morning drive, not only did we see a lion but also saw baby lion cubs! The guides do such a great job at navigating and finding where the animals are located. Each one is super educated and knowledgable about the animals and bush. I learned a ton, even how to take better pictures! There were great surprises along the way especially if you're staying at the Skybed. Do not miss the chance to do at least 1 night there. I 100% recommend Sable Alley; you will not be disappointed.

We had a marvelous stay, this has to be one of the best managed camps around, the attention to detail was amazing, they do all the things right. Food was excellent. The view extends over a small lake full of hippos which was particularly delightful experience. I didn't even mind them waking us up in the middle of the night snorting.
People from South Africa flew to the camp because they told us there's nothing like this in South africa. All the staff were fantastic, a few people were even Beyond exceptional.
I guess my only beef would be that they don't have trackers on front of the jeeps, which high-end resorts do. That was disappointing, however the guides work together and they delivered major blowout sightings, so I really can't complain.
Maybe also the pictures look a little bit nicer than the camp actually is. It wasn't even half full when we were there, so I really can't say what it would be like if it was fully booked sometimes the quality of experience goes down then, but overall the camp has, and deserves, a great reputation
The camp is also hardcore, they want you to get up at 5:30 in the morning; get out early. Some of our drives were over 5 hours long. Be prepared, at least they do try to give you your money's worth

GREAT views with hippos in and out of the watering hole which you can see from your room or while you’re eating. The game drives were great!! Steeze was our game driver guide and was so funny and awesome - always making sure we saw every animal possible and also able to capture the best photo! We saw lions, 8 cubs, wild dogs, giraffes, zebras, elephants, ostrich, warthogs, leopards, so many birds and I know I am missing more !! Will never forget this place!! Thanks for everything.

My husband and I have nothing but positive things to say about Sable Alley.
We were in the honeymoon suite which is farthest from the main area. While we did not have views of the lagoon, it was nice and private and we still had plenty of visitors at night and during that the day that we could see at a more distant watering hole.
The staff is amazing, they are so friendly and accommodating. We loved having Steeze as a guide.
Safari in the Okavango Delta is the REAL deal, you truly feel like you are far away from everything and the game viewing is exceptional. When we were checking in an elephant was munching on some leaves next to where I was dining.
It was pretty hot when we went so if you’re sensitive to the heat, be sure to look up the seasons and temperatures!
