A stay at the Post Hotel & Spa is part of the romance of the Canadian Rockies, which is why it’s a great choice for your honeymoon trip to Lake Louise. The dramatic backdrop of the mountains, the spirit of the original hand-built log house, and the luxury and comfort of a mountain lodge, all combine to create a unique experience, whether you travel in the winter for the skiing or in summer for mountain adventures.
The location off the Trans Canada Highway within Banff National Park is secluded and private, but it’s just a two hour drive to the bustling city of Calgary. The Post is also a famous fine dining destination, and has a legendary wine cellar. Due to its history, it combines the best of the traditions and hospitality of the Swiss Alps and the Rockies, giving it a unique place in the hearts of visitors.
The rooms and suites face the mountains or the gardens, and come with working fieldstone fireplaces that add another cozy touch to the decor. Guests who want more privacy can book one of the storybook cabins or the Watson Lodge. The themes of comfort and luxury are echoed throughout the property with mountain decor, fresh flowers and music.
The Post is a culinary destination as well and has been awarded the Best Food in the Americas title by Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List. The wine cellar with over 2300 selections is likewise widely recognized. The Temple Mountain Spa with its steam rooms, plunge pools and an indoor pool and whirlpool is a also destination in its own right.
The Post Hotel & Spa is part of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux hotel group, with all of the 5Cs necessary for that distinction, namely charm, courtesy, cuisine, character and calm. These all add up to a resort to which guests return year after year, and you too may decide to come back for your anniversaries.

Mu husband and I spent 4 amazing nights at the Post hotel in Lake Louise. It was our first visit and it exceeded our expectations. We will definitely return. Here's what we loved: 1) amazing service! 2) the wood burning fireplace in our room! We loved having an evening fire with a glass of wine 3) fabulous dining. My favourite was the Fondue Restaurant (The Stubli) 4) Excellent spa and pool/hot tub 5) The ski shuttle was excellent. We never had to wait and we loved being greeted with a complimentary tea/coffee service in the lobby at the end of each ski day.
The room does not come with a fridge, so I requested a small bar fridge so I could keep some food items cool during our stay. That was very appreciated.
We were sad to leave, but we'll be back.
Tip: Pick a room NOT facing the parking lot if you want an amazing view of the mountains. We had room 305. We had beautiful sunrises every day. We did not hear any train noise.

Long time patrons of the Post Hotel and honestly concerned about the new owners. Happy to say the charm and elegance has been maintained. The dining experience is as always unsurpassed. A few pluses - extra staff and very attentive. A minus (and concern) - some furniture decor had been swapped out for what can only be described as Scandinavian modern. It’s the Canadian Rocky Mountains people! Don’t make the same mistake that Jasper Park Lodge made with circa 1970s cafe style decor.
Enjoyed our stay. Will be back… please get rid of the mismatched tables - looks tacky.

We booked at this hotel because we wanted the quality experience of a Relais Chateaux establishment.
However, and incredibly, the room we had booked (Fairview Cabin 102) had no heating throughout our stay. We reported this to front desk and the maintenance person brought in a fan heater; he explained the heating system had been having issues for a long time. This was confirmed by front desk - we were told the cabins would be closed for maintenance shortly to fix this problem.
Temperatures were sub-zero during our stay. The fan heater was noisy and we had to turn it off in order to be able to sleep. As a result, the room was extremely cold in the morning.
It is absolutely unacceptable to open a room for booking in the knowledge that there is such a serious issue. It is even more so to actually host people in such a room in -7C nights. And it is outrageous to offer a fan heater as a solution - as if we were staying in a roadside motel.
I pointed this out yet again at checkout. We were given a 30% discount. But we didn’t book a room to get a discount. We booked a room to enjoy a luxury Relais Chateaux experience in the exceptional environment of Lake Louise. This hotel failed us miserably. I would never stay here again.

A very comfortable hotel with lots of nice traditional features: cosy quiet areas, lounges, games room and library. Tea and coffee available by reception even though they are also offered in the room.
We had a lovely duplex room with dual aspect and good amenities, but despite snuggling into a very comfortable large bed, ear plugs (available in the bedside tables) are essential due to the passing trains day and night. Large bathroom with shower and jacuzzi bath, basin & loo downstairs and loo/basin upstairs – both stocked with nice toiletries. Open fire stacked with logs for when it’s chilly. Lovely bathrobes.
Dining room very nice and ok service – we only had breakfast there. My husband opted for the buffet, but I opted for Eggs Benedict which was delicious but arrived late just as my husband was finishing his meal. Expensive, but good to have included refills of tea/coffee and orange juice.
Lovely health club with nice pool, jacuzzi and sauna – towels provided.
Hotel situated a stone’s throw from the small village of Lake Louise, which offers some good café choices for breakfast and lunch. Very close to must-see sights of Moraine Lake, Lake Louise and the Gondola/Chair Lift.
Only downside was The Outpost – advertised as a traditional pub, but more like a noisy overcrowded sports bar. Closed on a Sunday and Monday, we arrived 6pm on Tuesday to be told there was a 40 minute wait for a table + we were told there was no wheelchair access for our friend. We were offered bar menus to use at one of the hotel lounges to eat at a coffee table – not ideal but this was probably better as it was quieter and fairly quick service. Canada was overall very good for wheelchair access, so this was unusual, but should be considered.

Very nice and well kept resort! Beautiful scenery on the river and attractive grounds. Excellent dinner at the fine dining restaurant with too notch service. We had the Pacific Halibut and the Beef Tenderloin. Salad and dessert were wonderful as well!
Excellent Service, Comfort and Elegance
We loved our one night stay here….we had an exquisite suite that was a fantastic splurge. The bathtub was fit for a queen! Every piece of furniture was comfortable and the rooms, hallways and lobby immaculate. Wish we had more time for the lovely lobby tea service. Staff were friendly...

Everything was great about this hotel except for the 25 dollar blueberry pancakes, they were raw in the middle. Recommend not getting the pancakes, the rest of the food was great.
The hotel is in a nice location and lots of things to see around it.

Just like many others have said, the hotel is outdated. There is no air conditioning and the heat stayed on although we had the control turned to the lowest setting. We tried opening the back door with screen door closed but a squirrel came into our room because the screen had a big rip at the bottom. There was a window but we were afraid something would come through that screen also. Although it was 50 degrees outside our room was very stuffy. The carpet and furniture are old and dated looking. The staff is hit or miss. The bellman and maids were very courteous and our server at breakfast was nice but the check-in guy was not friendly or helpful. We tried to eat at the restaurant but I was told to take off my hat (I'm a woman). I understand rules but it didn't make sense to us that our only option was a prix fixe fine dining experience for $160 CAD. The more casual restaurant was closed. The whole area is outdoor oriented and casual so it would be better suited to have a casual choice restaurant at all times. We'd done a 10 mile hike that day and the last thing we wanted to do is dress up for dinner. A positive for the hotel was coffee was offered in the lobby for free every morning. The turndown service at night was nice. We got a bottle of water and a granola type bar. For the price we paid, the room was not worthy. The coffee machine in the room was a lot of trouble to operate and malfunctioning. There was no refrigerator on the room but we were able to get one from the front desk.It is extremely overpriced and profit does not seem to be put back into the accommodations. Rooms were not sound proof. It was noisy a times. In summary we would never stay here again.

The hotel is on first impressions is beautiful with a lovely reception area and a river runs through the grounds, again beautiful with the mountains always visible.
The room was very nice, only drawback to the room was no air conditioning which is a not good as it was about 28 C. The showers were also “old school” and you stand in the bath.
The bar area was lovely but small, unfriendly and limited. The bar staff were not friendly or helpful. This is something you don't see every day.
We had plans for dinner so phoned to reserve a table in the restaurant and were advised it was a set 4 course menu at $160 per head. We found this difficult to believe so went to the restaurant itself where we found you didn’t have to have 4 courses and could have what you wanted. We booked and found that individual courses did not have prices so we ordered main courses not knowing the cost. We really didn’t want to eat too much as we weren’t that hungry but there wasn’t any alternative.
The food was excellent but found to be, in my opinion, overpriced at $80 each. The restaurant service was outstanding and the drinks again, pricey. Could not really justify the cost of eating there again.
Wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you have no transport as it isn’t walking distance to town and you may have to pay over the odds for food and drink. If touring the area by car this would be a lovely place to stay for 2 or 3 nights if you can get an appropriate room rate, so you can avoid the food and drink there.

This review covers the hotel, Sir Norman dining room at the lodge. And the Outpost pub as we tried both restaurants at the Lodge. We had an enjoyable two day stay at the Post & Spa as part of our Rocky Mountaineer Train trip in August. We found the hotel quite comfortable and was pleased to use the steam room, jacuzzi, and pool. Only issues were waiting three hours to check in and get our luggage and half of the health club equipment out of order. We visited the outpost pub while waiting for check in and enjoyed a great salad and soup and a sandwich. Price was reasonable. We ate dinner at the Sir Norman restaurant and enjoyed a caprese salad appetizer and salmon dinner. Food was great but pricey. Saturday we chose to eat dinner at the outpost pub again as they had prime rib on special that was fantastic and reasonably priced. All in all we had a great visit here.

Old, tired, hotel that leans on some “historical status” to attract customers. Rooms are a one star. Old. Old. Old. Dingy. Dated. Carpet everywhere that’s old and grungy. Yuk. Saggy old furniture. Breakfast buffet meh. Would never return and not recommend.
Really grim experience. Train noise constant. All gym equipment “out of order”. Lift “out of order”. Steam room “out of order”. Room completely out dated. Worn out carpets. No water in room. Half the hotel rooms look out over the large car park. Restaurant overlooking car park.
