We stayed at The Planter’s inn recently on our first trip to Savannah. It was close to many restaurants and River Street. The rooms were clean with comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. The valet and service were excellent. The best part of our stay was the reception in the lobby every evening from 4:30-6:30 with free wine and cheese. They had a grand piano with a great pianist that played a wide variety of tunes. We definitely recommend the Planter’s Inn and hope to return some time.

This hotel is in a great location and the room has lots of charm. When we checked in on Friday (staying to Monday) we were told there was no housekeeping staff for the entire weekend. That was OK, I guess, since we are not messy travelers and can make our own bed. We were asked to call the desk if we needed towels or additional items. Those small trash cans needed emptying, so we accumulated a bag or two of trash by the door by Monday. For the price we paid, housekeeping should have been included. The bathroom light over the mirror would not turn off and light switch sparked when we flipped it. A maintenance person fixed it that very afternoon. There were no door hangers to indicate "do not enter" or "room needs attention." On early Monday morning, housekeeper opened our door waking us.

We checked in on 6/15 for a three night stay. We were a bit early so the room wasn’t ready but we were able to check our bags and valet the car. This was our first time staying at the Planters Inn but our 4th visit to Savannah so we know our way around, on foot, pretty well. After walking around town and dinner at Paula Deen’s restaurant, our room was ready. It was a beautiful room, with simple vintage like furnishings. The room was average size, had a coffee maker and a TV that we never even turned on. Coffee is always available in the lobby as well. We were in room 610. From what I could tell most rooms have a view only of the parking garage but I don’t stay in Savannah to look out the window so the view was insignificant. I do recommend bringing a white noise machine as the noise outside can become very loud later in the night. Monday through Thursday evenings, in the lobby, is a piano player and complimentary wine and cheese and crackers. It was a very nice touch and we enjoyed that after a long day of exploring Savannah and before heading out to dinner. The location of this hotel can’t be beat, it is in the heart of the historic district and is a 5-10 minute walk to almost anywhere. The room rate is very reasonable for Savannah, you won’t be disappointed!

This was a wonderful older hotel with lots of charm in a great location in Savannah. We spent 4 nights and were able to walk to everything we wanted to see and do in Savannah. We had a room that looked out on the square which I would recommend and had no problems at all with vehicle noises that were mentioned in other reviews. We had a very comfortable queen size bed which had many fluffy pillows. The service was the way it should be in the people were very friendly and helpful when I needed help or had a concern but they were not intrusive every time I walked through the lobby. I would highly recommend Planters Inn and would stay there again when in Savannah.

My husband does not like to walk far, and they were able to arrange pedicabs and/or shuttles (right outside the inn's door) to help him! The shuttle we took was free. Wow! Talk about great service!! The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the bed was extremely comfortable. AND the location of this inn is in the middle of everything going on...the restaurants, shopping, museums, bars, and the river is also a short walk away. I highly recommend this Planters Inn!! We WILL go back to this place if we return to beautiful Savannah!

We had 2 nights at this hotel during a 3 week road trip down the east coast of America. We are all seasoned travellers (2 couples) and were truly shocked at the state of the rooms we were given here (301 and 302). We can forgive old and perhaps a little jaded with peeling paint and shabby furniture but DIRTY is totally unacceptable for travellers paying these kind of prices.
Quite clearly the furniture never gets moved and underneath the bed, chairs, tv cabinet and bedside tables were utterly disgusting. The skirting boards had a fur coat on them and hadn’t seen a cloth or water for months, if not years. curtain poles were broken and lying across the carpet and the door to the clothes closet had clumps of dirt hanging from the hinges. The carpets were covered in hair and crumbs and we wore slippers at all times.
Room 301 had a problem with condensation as there was no extractor fan in the bathroom and no window. Everything in the room became damp including the bedding and all our clothing. We were told there was no one available to make up the rooms each day unless we requested it which begs the question, what are we actually paying for here? You could get a much better room for the same price, elsewhere in Savannah.
The website states cookies on arrival but we were offered nothing. Likewise, use of a gym close by but this wasn’t mentioned either. There is no bar and no restaurant facilities so very little positives going on here. The receptionists barely looked up or spoke so perhaps they should consider alternative employment as clearly not suited to hospitality.
As very well travelled people, we feel we couldn’t possibly recommend this hotel to others and we will be feeding this information back to our travel agent in the UK who booked it. Savannah is a beautiful city but this hotel was a huge disappointment.

I expected more from a hotel in the historic district!
After visiting Savannah at least once a year for the last 17 years, this was the first time I've stayed somewhere other than The River Street Inn. As the old saying goes, If it's not broke, don't fix it!
The only positive was the location.

The night spent at this hotel was nothing short of a nightmare. With no warning we were woken from the sound of car races in the garage across from this hotel (which uses the garage for their valet services). The owners were well aware of the “impossible to sleep” sound of cars racing through the garage from 11pm to 4 am. When asked at the front desk to call the police we were told that they wouldn’t do anything. My husband and I separately went to the desk at 2am and 4am. Nothing was done. In the morning we asked to speak to the owner, who had no interest in taking responsibility for providing a restful night to his paying customers. This place deserves ZERO stars. I’ve traveled the world, and never had a more horrible experience in a hotel. Savannah is a beautiful and special city. I encourage you to visit, but don’t stay here. It’s that awful.

We were greeted by a super friendly and helpful man at the kerb side who quickly talked us through the parking options.
Valet parking is available but self parking is exceptionally easy with a number of parking garages nearby.
The lobby is lovely, we walked in to the pianist playing beautifully.
Check in was easy, we found all staff at the hotel incredibly friendly and helpful.
Our room on the sixth floor was a great size and overlooked the square....I loved looking out of the window at life passing by!
The room had a fridge, coffee maker and TV. All the essentials.
The bed was very high but comfortable enough.
Breakfast is not available at the hotel but there is a great little diner just at the back of the hotel.
Having just come from a hotel that offered lots of deals with nearby businesses, maybe a breakfast deal with Quinn's could be an idea?
Our room was clean...maybe not pristine, there was a little bit of dust and the inside of the shower curtain was moldy. Not a massive issue for us but seems fair to point out the good and the 'not so good'.
The location is absolutely perfect. So easy to walk around.
We also took trips to Tybee Island and Wormsloe historic site, both easy car journeys.
Overall, we really liked the location, the hotel and the staff. Would definitely stay again.

Really very very run down. No “warm cookies in the evening.” And even if there were, fairly certain we would not eat them. Bed is comfortable but whatever machinery is running over the closet is rattling all night—that’s why I’m up at 5am writing this review. Peeling paint. Dirty windows. Questionable cleanliness of carpet. No cable and very weak wifi.
These feel like bits as I write but at $400/night, I expected a lot more. Feels like $150/night or even $250/night given location might have been more appropriate.
