My wife and I came from Melbourne and spent 3 nights at this hotel. We told Sue (the hotel manager) that the reason we came is to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We also reminded her about it on the second day. We received nothing from the hotel as a recognition of our celebration. Not a card, not a bottle of wine absolutely nothing. We are very disappointed.

Our first but, hopefully, not last visit to Peninsula Apartments. Very comfortable room and friendly efficient staff. Beautiful grounds, gardens and pool. Fantastic , cooked to order breakfast which lasted us until evening dinner time.

Nice hotel but had to empty dehumidifier tank myself. Breakfast was ok but they didn't know about fried eggs over hard. Restaurant closes at 2:00. Really close to the ocean and the town was about 2 blocks long but nice with plenty of good restaurants. 👍

Ideally located hotel/apartment opposite the beach and stinger net, short walk into Main Street for restaurants etc. Breakfast was good with outside seating and quality food and service. Room was clean and comfortable with balcony. Swimming pool was clean with pool towels provided and on site laundry room. Room could be partitioned from a studio with kitchenette into a 2 room apartment creating a lounge area.

Well below expectation. We had stayed at the Peninsula previously and had high expectations. I booked in September 24 with credit card details tgst were current, prepayment was a requirement of the booking. Between September 24 and Jsnusry 25 i hhad my card stolen and details changed in November 24....

Well below expectation. We had stayed at the Peninsula previously and had high expectations. I booked in September 24 with credit card details tgst were current, prepayment was a requirement of the booking. Between September 24 and Jsnusry 25 i hhad my card stolen and details changed in November 24. The hotel waited until 7 am on the day prior to our stay to contact me. 7 am why would you ring at that time! We were on holidays and sleep at that time. Inconsiderate they had plenty of time to call prior to our stay! On the day of departure we requested an extended check out time of 1 hour, declined then 30 minutes, declined. The property needs some maintenance and greater customer focus. Disappointing.

We have been going to this hotel for years and have always had a great experience however our recent stay in December of 2024 was quite disappointing mainly because of cleanliness. The corridors, stairwells and lift were dusty, cobwebs, floors not vacuumed properly. The room also had cobwebs and layers of dust, fridge was moldy, shower was moldy. Just unacceptable. The best thing though is the breakfast - its the best in Port Douglas. But the management team need to pay some attention to cleanliness and detailing.

Check in was "from 3pm", we checked in at 4pm but reception had already closed and there was very poor instructions as to how to find our room. My partner had to go for a hunt to find the room while I waited with the bags. When we found the room the cleanliness was lax. The fridge was unclean, the spa bath (which we had upgraded room category to use) had not been cleaned since the last room occupants and I had to clean with dishwashing liquid. The whole room cleanliness was poor. One of the sliding doors to the bedroom had multiple broken shutters. On the whole I would never stay here again. This place is old, run down and service is completely absent. No wonder we exit to Asia instead of holidaying locally!

Great location at the beach in port Douglas. Rooms are clean and ok, but it is a little old. Super nice service and great breakfast restaurant. Staff is really helpful and the atmosphere is great. It is really great that this is adult only hotel.

Beautiful resort and would highly recommend.

What a great place. Best location, ocean view (We had one of the suits), walking distance to the city. Very friendly staff, always helpfull. Great breakfast and a small, cosy pool area. The hotel stands out as a place with charm and true dedication from all staff. Highly recommendable

Good location opposite Four Mile Beach and easy walk to other attractions. Unfortunately due to being solid (not glass) construction the balcony balustrade blocks the view of the beach when sitting on the balcony, although if you stand it’s ok. Check in not allowed until 3pm, arrived at 3.05 no staff at check in. Envelope with name and key left on desk. Didn’t feel 4.5 star at all, more backpacker. No instructions where to park. Rooms are starting to look tired and run down as many properties in PD are. $331 / night is expensive when compared to others around Macrossan St with similar star rating / facilities. Room had cobwebs in kitchen around windows, and mould on living area blinds. Sliding door between bedroom and ensuite did not slide easily and made a lot of noise when opening/ closing it. Breakfast was ok, coffee although “Barista” brewed, was undrinkable, sour taste, burnt?

This boutique hotel is in the perfect spot near the beach and nice easy walk to the centre. The staff are excellent very friendly always happy to help with a smile. The breakfast were great! Although no evening dining at the moment this did not spoil our stay in any way as there is a wide choice of restaurants within walking distance. Would definitely return.

The Boutique Hotel is right overlooking the 4-mile beach. At the time of writing, the manager has only been in post a few weeks but clearly understands what makes a good attentive host. The rooms were excellent, and the breakfasts were popular both for guests and locals. Located at the bottom of town, it allows for quietness away from the bars/restaurants, but an easy walk both to these and the shops. Another easyly highly recommended hotel to stay in.

Rooms are very comfortable and well equipped and we particularly appreciated the free to use laundry facilities, which made life a lot easier than other places in Australia where machines are coin operated. We also loved the pool which is brilliantly designed on different levels to make the most of the space, and to provide semi-private spaces for sitting and sunbathing. As others have said, breakfast is of really high quality. The location is perfect, across the road from the beach, and within easy walking distance of the shops, bars and restaurant in Port Douglas, but also far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended.

Clean comfortable room with functional kitchenette should you wish to use. Staff were friendly and attentive with always a smile. Breakfast was scrumptious and plentiful and served on the terrace with a view of the sea and sun. The pool is great for a cooling off dip and swim.

We had an 8 night stay in an ocean view suite, room 2 on the ground floor. The suite was spacious and well equipped with a kitchenette, table and chairs, sofa, large bathroom with whirlpool tub and shower and a terrace. There are ceiling fans and also an air conditioner that we didn't use. Breakfast was included, ordered from a menu and served to your table. If you have an early departure for an excursion you can preorder a packed breakfast to take with you. The hotel restaurant did not offer evening meals but that wasn't a problem as the hotel is within easy walking distance of many restaurants in Port Douglas. Aspects of this hotel that really impressed us: the staff, particularly at reception. Nothing was too much trouble for them, whether ii was giving advice about Port Douglas, booking excursions and helping sort out a problem we had with rebooking our airport transport back to Cairns when our flight time was changed at short notice. We so much appreciated the help we received from the pleasant, efficient young women serving at reception. Housekeeping was also helpful as we had a faulty coffee maker that was replaced promptly. Location, across from 4 mile beach is excellent. Beach umbrellas and chairs are available to use. Also, Macrossan St. where there are many shops and restaurants was within walking distance and you could walk to the other side of the peninsula if you wished. Laundry facilities are available for guest use, including detergent which was helpful when you are travelling for a length of time. The pool isn't huge but is perfectly adequate for a dip and there was no problem getting sun loungers. Things we were less satisfied with: the door to our room was quite stiff, like put a shoulder to it to open it and slam it to shut it. This could easily be fixed. Also the terrace for this room was not very private, you could see the terrace of the room next to it and on the other side the tables of the hotel restaurant. I don't know if the terraces of the upstair rooms are more private but given that our stay was over a week it would have been nice to have a more private terrace (we also didn't have a sun lounger which most of the other room terraces had). All in all a great stay and I would highly recommend this boutique hotel for its central location and welcoming, helpful staff.

A beautiful small hotel almost on the beach. The room was lovely with very comfortable bed and spa bath + shower. The small kitchen area and fridge were a bonus but it is so close to the town facilities we didn't feel the need to eat in whilst there - except in the breakfast bistro attached to the hotel which served an excellent breakfast. The pool is small but more than adequate for a relaxing dip. I would definitely stay if fortunate enough to return to Port Douglas.

Great location right on the beach front and near all the shops. Conveniently offer bikes, towels, chairs and umbrellas (beach and rain). Scooters near by if interested. Breakfast was yummy and generous but slow - there is an option to pre-order some items if you are rushed. We took advantage of the free washer / dryers (complimentary detergent too) on site after a long time living out of our suitcase on this trip. Front desk closes early (around 5:00) and can’t get food or drinks on-site after about 2:00 (earlier on some days). Room layouts are a bit strange / angled and somewhat outdated but very functional and low key vibe. Pool is surprisingly deep for being so small - kept at refreshing, comfortable temperature. Beds are comfortable and was nice to have a balcony to listen to the ocean. Kitchenette was handy for morning coffee and keeping leftovers in fridge.

Excellent hotel - superior service quality. This hotel is really to be recommended: just across the promenade to the beach, nice breakfast included from 7 am - 2pm (!). Breakfast to go for early departure. Towels & beach chairs & sun umbrellas, nice swimming pool area, filtered water to go & ice cubes, bicycles, washing & drying facility including washing liquid for free, it offers simply everything. We have stayed at Australia for 4 weeks, travelling along 4-5 star hotels, and this was outstanding. Take a studio with sea view - and enjoy sun rise/set every day. Enjoy the lovely beach and water for swim, and the amazing view fro the hotel. By the way: we booked a snorkelling tour by ABC Snorkel company, a business offering small tours guided by marine biologists per 6-persons each group. Well done.

Our four night stay at the Peninsula Boutique Hotel in Port Douglas was excellent. The managers, Pete and JoJo, along with Shelly at the reception desk made us feel more like relatives than mere clientele. The made to order breakfast, served each day by Meddie, was the best of our 16-day Australia journey. The variety of options (Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest, Wildlife Habitat, Four-Mile Beach, Macossan Street Shopping and Restaurants) offered by Port Douglas as well as the warm embraces by the hotel staff led to this venue being the highlight of our trip.

The suite we booked was not cheap. So very disappointed that it hasn’t been updated or maintained since it was built in 1999. Really old fashioned and ran down. The bathroom has black mould between the wall tiles. The floor tiles are dirty. You get dirty feet walking around barefoot....

The floor got wet after a shower so I wiped the tiles with a flannel which was then a muddy brown colour. Tge toilet bowl has brown stains in. The bedroom door dividers don’t even meet so the light comes in early. When I asked if there were any alternative room options the manager said none of the rooms had been refurbished in the last 25 years so all equally bad. He also said it was my fault for booking it and my travel agent! Hilarious that it’s the customers fault that it’s poorly maintained! Apparently it’s not a hotel, strange given the sign outside and website that all call it a hotel. Apparently you’re renting a room from an individual owner, so none of it is the management’s responsibility. So run down and not clean. Looking forward to leaving and going to a proper hotel with up to date facilities and clean. We had our first bad breakfast here after 3 weeks of travelling around Australia. Nothing seemed to work out well here for us! One plus is the view is nice overlooking 4 mile beach. So if they do refurbish and start cleaning properly would be nice. Also convenient for town centre and restaurants.
