Our second visit to this wonderful resort, February 2026 will be our 3rd visit and # 7 to the Hawaiian Islands. We so enjoy the laid back vibe of the resort, a smaller resort in comparison to many others but not lacking in amenities or activities. All staff, so accommodating and friendly. Ample dining opportunities on property, if you've enjoyed a fun, relaxing day at the resort, no need to go offsite for drinks, dinner or entertainment. A well stocked shop for just about anything, opens at 6 AM serving Starbucks coffee and a variety of grab & go eats. Rooms are well appointed, pools are lovely and the oceanfront (beach) is stellar for viewing and relaxing by. If you enjoy long beach walks, toes in the sand at the waters edge, & not many people, look no further. For swimming, beaches close by are more ideal if you want to swim in the ocean. Sunrises are spectacular. Easy self parking & reasonable when compared to other options & the daily resort fee is not outrageous. Onsite car rental, if needed and spa. After 2- visits, I personally feel very confident in highly recommending the Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort

We had the best time at this resort! Every staff member was pleasant and helpful from the moment we arrived. The location is central to all locations on Kauai and everything you could possibly need is right at the resort. Daily music, good food at the restaurants, an ocean view and small but sandy ocean beach, nice pools and hot tubs. Hula dancers came in for poolside entertainment. The room was clean and comfortable. I can't imagine why anyone would need to stay anywhere else. We are a senior couple but there were families with children here and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

Has all the potential to be a really great stay. Lovely environs/spas/beach/ well landscaped/ lovely communal areas. Fabulous greeting by Sarah at reception who went above & beyond. Sadly breakfast and Shutters serving staff let the side down badly. Maintenance not attended to for several months leaving broken door blowing a gale in breakfast area, manager tried to gaslight us over problem of their making - charging top $ for decidedly sub service & no care attitude. Staff dropped breakfast plate & told us to go & replace food after they dropped it! Staff tried to remove dinner plate whilst still eating, then shouted at us as paying customers! Starbucks coffee disgustingly tasteless & extremely slow service. Told us of laundry service, went to use it & found it closed for restoration!!! Had to ask for compensation- staff thought it was no big deal to expect us to drive to nearest town & sit for 1.5hrs in a laundromat!!

A wonderful property, well run and beautiful grounds. Fantastic location. A genuine old Hawaii vibe. We really enjoyed ourselves and truly relaxed. A good value too. Just perfect if you wanna get away and just chill, we definitely would recommend this place.
The hotel property, the room, the beach, and the staff were all wonderful! My husband and I had a great time and we plan to be back. The convenience of being right in Lihue was a benefit as well. We were close to many restaurants and shopping areas.
Had high hopes but they were squashed with parking and room assignment. Obstructed view but charged for nice view…screen door was busted and wouldn’t lock, main door wouldn’t open all the way. On top of resort fee, you have to pay $29 a day to park a ways away. Only...
Had high hopes but they were squashed with parking and room assignment. Obstructed view but charged for nice view…screen door was busted and wouldn’t lock, main door wouldn’t open all the way. On top of resort fee, you have to pay $29 a day to park a ways away. Only one hot tub was working and it’s small. Beach chairs are ancient. Money better spent at the Marriott down the road.

It’s fine, but nothing special.

I’ll assume that you are accustomed to the high pricing in Hawaii, as this resort is no different to anywhere else in terms of its high prices, taxes and resort fees. Be prepared to pay more than you are expecting - you even need to pay $29 a night for the pleasure of parking your car (about a 5 min walk from reception!)
Once you get past this, this ‘resort’ style accommodation is fine as a base for visiting Kaui. It is well landscaped, the pool area is attractive with various warm spas and pool bars. It is of course fairly impersonal, as there are hundred of guests at any one time but facilities are pretty much what you would expect.
There is no room service, but there is a ‘takeout’ option where you can order from the various restaurant menus and then eat in your room. They don’t allow glasses or cutlery in your room though, so you’re stuck drinking your beer/wine out of a paper cup and eating with plastic cutlery. Seriously guys, can you not review that ‘policy’?
As with everywhere in Hawaii, the ‘environmental’ ethos seems to dissipate very quickly amongst the various plastic and throwaway cups, packaging etc ….. though they do provide a refillable water bottle for complimentary use.
There is a nice shopping village about 10mins drive up the road, which has some more eating options and a big ABC store, if you don’t fancy the hotel restaurant every night.

Stunning resort, kept immaculate for guests. This resort is slightly out of the town of Lihue, but super close to the airport and is gorgeous. Our large room was fabulous with a view of the pools areas. The resort offers 3 different pools plus adults only spa area, plenty of lounges to relax. The common areas inside offer plenty of lounges. There is a spa on site (although way overpriced so we did not use). The bar is good and has great live music (there was only one night were the singer had his amp up too loud so was a little uncomfortable in the space and you couldnt hear a thing so we left), but all in all great area and the staff behind the bar were excellent. We did sit at a table the first night and found service very slow, so subsequent nights sat at the bar and service was great. Market onsite is very well stocked even if completely overpriced (as are all resort markets), but has everything you may need at short notice. Had a wonderful experience staying here 4 days and great place to stay if you want to just chill and relax.

Great restaurant at Outrigger Resort Kauai, HI
We had one of the greatest meals at the Outrigger Naupaka Terrace Restaurant. Recommended by our server, Kala, my husband had steak and I fish. Both were superb. Top-notch chef, server and ambience. We are having all our remaining meals of our stay right here. I highly recommend this restaurant.
The staff are very nice and super friendly and this is what’s has made this trip so enjoyable. The facilities are a bit worn out and run down, but I did see that they are working on upgrading and remodeling the facility. It’s definitely a “work in progress “ but...

It’s definitely a “work in progress “ but I have a soft spot for this resort. The rooms are kept clean and the bed was very comfortable. Good value for money, location is great for reaching all parts of the island .

The front desk was amazing. I believe Jasmine was one of the outstanding ladies, but several helped us throughout our stay. The ladies were able to get us checked in early, which we SO appreciated. That was at 1 pm on 3/25. We had slept on benches at the Maui Airport as they had closed between flights, and we were exaughsted. We were able to get a nap before the Luau I had booked at 4:30. Those ladies were our heroes!
We had food at all three restaurants during our stay. The manager was so professional checking on us and watching the restaurant helping were needed! We enjoyed the live music, and our server was wonderful at Shutters. Amanda at Driftwood was very friendly and made amazing drinks. Kala at Naupaka Terrace was amazing! He knew the menu inside and out, was fast and friendly, and shared a lot of information about the fish dishes. He is an asset to the resort for sure. We felt very confident in our orders with his suggestions and knowledge. Thank you for a wonderful vacation ❤️ We so want to come back and bring our kids and siblings! Mahalo
