The property was very nice and the staff was great — friendly, responsive, caring and helpful — but this property is no longer really a hotel; it is more like a private gated community, with villas rented out when their owners are not there. When we arrived, we were surprised to learn that there was limited housekeeping service (we had to ask for our room to be cleaned up, which happened only once during a 5-day stay) and the restaurant was not open for dinner, which required us to take a 25-minute taxi ride into town every evening. In addition, there was no one at the front desk in the evening (though when the manager saw how disturbed we were about this, he gave us his mobile number and told us we could call him at any time). Despite all these issues, we ended up having a really nice time. We had a spacious villa on the beach with a plunge pool on our patio and a beautiful larger pool only steps away. We really liked the manager, and Jaime, Jennifer and Louisa were terrific. This is a nice place to stay if you know what you are getting into, but don’t expect the amenities of a hotel.

The white beach that stretches for miles with no one but me and my sweetheart wandering on it, the plunge pool right outside our patio doors, the view of palm trees and ocean from said plunge pool, the staff (Sofia, Luisa, Tirso, Fernando, Rodrigo, Carlos, Jaime, Jennifer- thank you), the food and the ability to relax in comfort are all reasons we’ve been to Marea twice and will return again!

Loved this place so much! It was so peaceful and relaxing. The food was also delicious and very reasonable for a resort. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Jaime, Yesenia and Jenni were wonderful, they gave us great recommendations. I can't wait to go back!

Rooms are beautiful and views but that's about it. Restaurant closes at 5pm and there is nothing easy to get to. We decided to try something different but pretty disappointed, service for breakfast was very disorganized, far from everything

Our stay was amazing from the first minute. The villas were spacious and comfortable - we slept like a dream. We enjoyed easy access to all amenities and the airport. The food and service were excellent for all meals. We were told the resort was full, but it truly felt like we had the resort to ourselves. This was a romantic getaway for the two of us, but we could easily see bringing our two kids next time - Marea is so friendly, safe and relaxing - I could see this being a great place to bring a family.

To be honest this is one of the most beautiful beachfront resorts I've ever been! My wife asks me to spend some day near from the beach in our visit to Mexico. On the first option we tought in Acapulco or Cancun but as the Otis Hurricane were so recent some friends recommended not to visit coasts. Then we discover Marea, a micro city/town with all the amenities of a 5 stars resort in the between the sea and the forrest. We automatically fell in love with the attentions of the manager and everyone in the complex. Next time we will be back with our kids and maybe some friends.

Great place in every way, the architecture, landscapes, sea view, but the people is the cherry on the top, thanks to the guys from the restaurant Orbelin, Tirzon, Felipe and Mauricio that spoiled us (me and my wife) making our stay even more pleasant. Heads up to Marea and Ola...
