Reviews of Manuia Beach Resort
Nice hotel in on a sleepy island.
Good accommodations and helpful staff. The bar closes a bit early (9?) which can be tricky as Rarotonga is pretty sleepy. Breakfast buffet ( included) is bountiful and cooked eggs available at a small charge. Nice, small pool. The beach is only for a dunk, corral boulders everywhere.

This resort turned out to be a perfect choice for us. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and the central location. While the area fronting the resort is a bit rocky, only a short stroll down the beach you'll find sandy snorkeling spots or take a quick drive to premium snorkeling areas a few minutes away. Across the street is a local store & Island Car and Bike Rental. Because our flight from Hawaii landed at 10:30pm we used the hotel's free airport pickup service to get there and then just grabbed our car the next day. Victor (Night Manager) made a great first impression with his friendly welcome. He also dropped us off for our late-night flight on departure day. Anna at the Front Desk was exceptionally cheery and helpful. We booked a premium garden suite and found it perfectly peaceful as it was tucked in the corner of the resort so there weren't people walking by our room, though the wifi was a bit spotty there. Housekeeper Litia was awesome. GM Ross does NOT sit in his office all day - he's always walking around the property, hosted a manager's cocktail reception, drove our van on a "mystery tour". We were impressed by his "hands on" style and it's apparent why all of the employees are equally hospitable. Resort offers other activities such as ukulele lessons and drop off/pickup for Sunday church service which was a wonderful experience. The resort was extremely accommodating to the fact that our Hawaiian Air flight did not depart until 11:30pm. After checking out of our room, they stored our luggage while we enjoyed the island on our last day. We returned our car at 2:30pm just before Island Car closed and then simply walked back to the resort. We were offered use of the guest lounge to shower and get ready for our flight. You have several nearby options for dinner before a late flight: The fire dance dinner/show at the resort; walking to Waterline down the beach; or nearby Kikau Hut that offers pickup service. We enjoyed dinner at Kikau Hut, returned to the hotel in time for their complimentary 9:00pm shuttle to the airport. We felt extremely cared for during the week we spent at Manuia Beach Resort and can't wait to return. Though I'm a bit late in posting this review - we are still basking in the wonderful memories of our time in Rarotonga and thank the staff at Manuia for a fantastic stay!

This is a genuine piece of paradise, exactly what it says on their website.
The view from our beach room and the swimming pool is amazing.
A lovely relaxing time after our tour of New Zealand.
Ross and his team are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

Beautiful resort, fabulous restaurant
3 nights was not enough to experience how great this resort was. Great location, sunset views, infinity pool, views of the lagoon and ocean, and the best restaurant - OTB - On the beach.
Everything about the Manuia resort is exceptional. Highly recommended.
Cook Islands Fabulous Retreat
From the first welcome to the last moment we were treated with friendliness and courtesy. The room was more than perfect, the bed totally comfortable, the OTB restaurant food was superb as were the wait staff, especially those who remembered the cocktails. Recommend highly.
We cannot fault our stay at Manuia. Perfect setting with well appointed villas. Loved the outdoor shower, the gardens and ON THE BEACH restaurant being on site. We didn't have to head out if we didn't want to - everything was available within the resort. But let me tell you...
We cannot fault our stay at Manuia. Perfect setting with well appointed villas. Loved the outdoor shower, the gardens and ON THE BEACH restaurant being on site. We didn't have to head out if we didn't want to - everything was available within the resort. But let me tell you about the people rather than the facilities as that was what made our time there so wonderful. Anna is witty, welcoming and warm - one of the best people on this planet - she made our stay extra special for my husband's 70th. Ross is the most engaging, attentive and thoughtful manager. Can't speak highly enough of him. And Sammie brightened our mornings each breakfast time! The housekeeping and garden staff were full of smiles which gave off the best vibe - truly beautiful people. We cannot wait to return - worth every cent!

Overall Manuia Beach Resort is a great place to stay. It's a small adults only place which means there are not lots of people everywhere.
Well equipped rooms are all close to the pool and the beach and the outside private shower is a nice touch. Rooms are air conditioned which is a nice feature and useful when you are in the room.
The restaurant provides a good range of food and I recommend the $69 three course meal option as great value for money.
Staff are friendly and we're always happy to help book excursions etc.
The only thing, which is outside their control, is the constant crowing from the Rarotonga Roosters....a common issue all over the island..it seems these roosters have no sense of time as they started at 11pm and went through the entire night....so take some decent earplugs.
Don't let the roosters put you off going though, as Manuia Beach Resort is a really relaxing place to have a holiday.

We spent a week at Manuia Beach Resprt in May, which was a last minute booking as our planned trip to Vanuatu had been cancelled last minute due to Air Vanuatu folding. I was a little worried that the dream tropical holiday I had initially planned wouldn’t be as good, but we were so pleasantly surprised. Manuia Beach Resort was absolutely beautiful, it felt like our own private Oasis! The resort itself is small and quiet, which was just what we wanted. The staff were unbelievable, the restaurant one of the best we dined at during our whole stay, and the fact that the beach is just a stones throw from your room was perfect, we couldn’t have asked for a single thing more.
Even though the Cook Islands wasn’t our initial planned destination, I am so glad we ended up there. I would 100% go back and stay again at Manuia Beach Resort.

We were very disappointed with Manuia and given we paid $750 per night, it was the worst value for money place we've ever stayed.
It's a nice little resort, with very pretty grounds, but ...
The beachfront suites are NOT beachfront. In front of each suite is a regularly used path and a communal beach area with chairs & hammocks. Everyone in this area, around the pool and in the restaurant can see right into your suite, so it's not private at all and we regularly had the curtains closed, so no view at all.
Suites 1 & 2 are the most private and have the best views. We were in 3, but if we were in 5 or 6 I would have demanded a refund, as they look over the pool and into the restaurant. I can imagine they would be noisy too.
The restaurant "On The Beach" is not really on the beach and is terrible. The continental breakfast is by far the worst we've ever had. No cheese or cold meats. We only had some cupcakes or pastries 3 times in 7 days and they were stale. The fruit selection was very limited - no bananas and paw paw only on 2 days out of 7. The coffee was so bad, we just didn't drink it the last few days.
Cocktails are super expensive - most being $25 to $30 dollars. Only a couple are included in Happy Hour and when I ordered one of those I was told it’s very weak there’s not much alcohol in it!
Three out of seven nights there was a massive tent set up on the beach for private functions, which spoiled the view from anywhere in the resort.
Even though it's an adults only resort, the restaurant allows children, which meant that on a few occasions we had kids running around the grounds screaming & yelling, jumping on the hammocks and then crying when they fell out. Not what we've all paid for. I noticed some other adults only resorts have the same policy for their restaurant. At least the staff could have ensured the children were supervised by their parents.
The aircon in the room is weak and noisy and has very bright lights - we bought some tape to put over the lights at night time. We also found it turns off randomly.
The wifi is so bad that most of the time it just doesn't work at all. There's no TV (not that we cared), but there is a small fridge. The outdoor shower is cool.
None of the staff are local so you are greeted with 'hello' rather than 'kia orana' which removes the local Cook Island feel from your stay.
And then there's the roosters on the grounds .. crowing every morning before the sun's even come up, so beware if you're a light sleeper.

We stayed here for 5 nights for our honeymoon. We found the bed and pillows comfortable. The rooms were clean and pretty quiet, with air con and a fan. Soft fluffy towels. They presented the room beautifully and with a complimentary bottle of bubbles due to it being our honeymoon. The outside shower was a nice novelty.
The pool by the beach was awesome.
The only downfall was the associated restaurant OTB, which provided the free breakfast. They also pencilled us in for dinner on the first night and we agreed to a booking there, but found it over priced and the worst food on the island that we had. A short walk down to Waterline Restaurant is a better option.
I would definitely recommend staying at Manuia, but eat elsewhere!
Manuia staff were friendly and helpful, especially Ricky at the front desk.
Great value for money at Manuia.

Stayed here 9 nights and enjoyed it all time. Ross and the staff were very friendly and helpful! Every sunday it was a hugh buffedinner with amazing dance and fireshow after. Pool was great. Snorkling was good. Maybe a bit difficult to swim in the sea because of all corals.
Ricky, Mama Sala and the staff were all friendly, accomodating and professional. The stay was such a comfortable and relaxing one. It was our honey moon and I e thoroughly enjoyed our stay whilst here. We would highly recommend this hotel to everyone especially since it has an awesome cafe...

Awesome team of helpful staff and a great spot. Snorkeling and swimming good... Right off beachfront. Plenty of private space around rooms. Air con and fans if too hot.
