Very nice lodge! a short drive from Whitefish which is a great thing! Rooms and beds r super cute. The breakfast is outstanding. We were there to travel Glacier National Park and I think everyone there was doing the same thing! it was fun to trade stories of what all of did in the park and what we saw. the front desk was incredible and we will definitely come back and recommend! Also, the front desk has bear spray that hikers have left there as u cannot take it on the plane. we were able to get a can and thank God we didn't need to use it and turned backed in for the next traveler! the huge fireplace room is amazing. we sat there and relaxed with a couple drinks and mingled. we traveled northern Idaho and western Montana and this lodge was our FAVORITE! The rates were excellent for this budget minded couple! THANK YOU for fond memories!

We just returned from a 6-night stay in Whitefish and the Kandahar Lodge was perfect for our needs. The room was clean and comfortable, and the location worked well for the various activities we had planned. We found the continental breakfast to be better than at most hotels, and while the dining area is on the small side, guests can take their breakfast into the larger common area.
I saw several reviews with negative comments about the need for stairs in order to access all guestrooms. While it may be unusual, this information is on their website - they're not trying to hide it. They also asked us multiple times when checking in if we needed assistance with our bags. I completely understand that not everyone can navigate stairs and just wanted to point out that we didn't feel they were trying to pull the wool over our eyes in any way.
While we didn't have the need to interact with the staff too much, anyone we did come into contact with was very helpful. And shout out to the folks who worked the breakfast area - they did an awesome job of keeping everything stocked and were very pleasant every morning.

We stayed for two nights. It was our base for visiting Glacier NP. The large lobby area with a fire in the fireplace created a great ambiance. Our room was adequate and the beds were comfortable. The room doors require an actual metal, toothed key like back in the olden days. That feature contributed to the traditional ski lodge feel of the place. The breakfast had ham and cheese and breads so we could make a sandwich to take to the park, but it did not have the typical hot eggs, sausage, etc. that one sees in chain restaurants. The only downside was that there are no stores or restaurants within walking distance—at least not in September.

We were very disappointed in this lodge for several reasons. We could not get the television to receive major channels. Even asked the staff to help. They put us on the third floor with no elevator. The room had slatted ceilings so we bumped our heads several times. The sink in the bathroom drained very slowly. We paid a high price for this stay and we’re very disappointed. We asked as we checked out for a discount on our rate due to all of these situations and the man at the desk refused.

Beautiful location and helpful staff!

We loved our stay here. I did feel it was rather pricey especially because many hotels are still using Covid as an excuse not to have daily cleaning but otherwise the location was amazing and the staff incredible!! They were so kind and helpful and gave us lots of ideas for hiking in Whitefish as well as ways to get into Glacier with the frustrating inability to acquire vehicle passes. They spent a lot of time with us helping us navigate it all. They also let us borrow bear spray so we didn't need to buy some. The morning breakfast was also set up early which was nice since we had to leave so early to drive to East side of Glacier National Park. The kitchenette was great after a long day of hiking. It was nice not to have to dress up and go into town to eat. We threw some food together and then sat outside in one of their beautiful sitting areas. The room was large and comfortable. Truly the only negative was the priciness but it seemed rather standard for the area.

This was our 2nd stay at Kandahar Lodge. It’s cozy, welcoming atmosphere; friendly staff who want to be sure guests are happy; ski-in and out (shuttle also available to the main lift) brought us back. Eleven years later this stay met our expectations. Love the casual vibe and gathering space with wood burning fireplace at the end of a ski day. Continental breakfast is European style so good protein (and fruit and oatmeal) as well) to fuel the day. And if can’t spring for an exquisite meal at Cafe Kandahar (you must if you are able), the Snug Bar serves dishes prepared by the Cafe. Beds are firm and comfortable. Rooms very quiet and clean. Free snow bus takes you to town and back if you aren’t renting a car.
