Our first stay here was a few years ago, and we were so enchanted that we had to return—and we still couldn’t get enough. The property itself is a beautifully preserved 18th-century palace with elegant architecture, high ceilings, and intricate details that transport you to another era. The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated, and many offer balconies or terraces with panoramic views. The garden, filled with lemon trees and vibrant flowers, adds to the hotel’s serene and romantic atmosphere.
The service remains exceptional—warm, attentive, and personalized, making guests feel truly special. The on-site restaurant, Al Palazzo, serves exquisite Mediterranean cuisine with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, all in a charming garden setting. Breakfast, featuring a delightful selection of pastries, fruits, and Italian specialties, is a perfect way to start the day.
Location-wise, Palazzo Murat is unbeatable. It’s just a short walk to Positano’s main beach, Spiaggia Grande, and surrounded by boutiques, cafes, and restaurants, making it an ideal base for exploring the Amalfi Coast.
Even after returning, this hotel continues to exceed expectations. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or coming back like we did, Palazzo Murat offers an unforgettable stay, combining history, luxury, and outstanding hospitality in one of Italy’s most iconic destinations.

Best Positano Experience Ever
This hotel was absolutely incredible. From the incredible hotel room, food, pool and let’s not forget the best service I’ve ever had in my life. 10/10 would recommend and I can’t wait to stay here again. The manager was exquisite. Extremely helpful and nice.

We particularly liked the shady gardens that connect the bar and restaurant with the pool. These are both beautiful and quite unusual in our experience, enhancing further the sense of privacy. Bougainvillea is trained around the bedroom balconies including forming part of the overhead canopy, creating a spectacular setting.
Breakfast was first rate with a commendable range of gluten free options in a section we dubbed “gluten free corner”. Hot buffet food included scrambled eggs, ratatouille and bacon and there are more options available for an extra charge. There was a wide range of other buffet items, including fresh fruit, cold cuts, cheeses, yoghurts and cakes. Freshly squeezed orange juice was crushed from the fruit on the spot. The breakfast team were extremely helpful, did a lot to settle us in on the first morning and provided a welcome shuttle of cappuccinos.
The restaurant is incredible.
Leonardo (Guest Relations Manager) kindly organised a guided tour of Pompeii for us which was very professionally delivered by a third party.
Special thanks to Leonardo, Ernesto, Elena and not forgetting Antonio who looked after us in a secluded glade by the pool that we adopted as our own, but the whole team are excellent and were always on their game.
We plan to return!

We stayed at the Palazzo Murat for three nights and could not have been more impressed with how beautiful this hotel is, and the quality of the service. We didn't realize at the time, but we stayed at the hotel the last three nights prior to closing for the winter. They upgraded us to an incredible suite with an unbelievable private terrace. The restaurant was amazing. The morning breakfast was delicious. This place is a MUST if you're in Positano. Our only regret is we can only give them 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We stayed here for four nights beginning of October and it was exceptional! The staff were so helpful and the hotel itself is gorgeous and so unique. We stayed in Room 1 in the original section of the building and it was wonderful and spacious. The bathroom was up a flight of stairs which was unique but worth it as the shower was amazing. They sent us a bottle of champagne for our anniversary which was so sweet and the lemon cake they gave us at check in was incredible. Breakfast each morning was so good. We ate at their restaurant, Al Palazzo, and it was our favorite meal in Positano hands down.
We flew into Naples and the hotel arranged a private pickup and stop to tour Pompeii for two hours and then to the hotel. They also arranged a car service to go to Ravello for the day which was beautiful. They also helped give us bus maps and restaurant recommendations to go do the Path of the Gods. FYI - It was no joke! We’re fit and our legs were shaking at the end.
This hotel really exceeded our expectations. The location was perfect being close to the center beach, the bus stop and shopping. With so many amazing hotel options to choose from in Positano, it was tough to pick one but we were so happy we chose Palazzo Murat!! 5 stars all the way!!

Exceptional Experience in Positano
This is an exceptional well-appointed hotel with many amenities and beautiful grounds and rooms. Staff was exceptional and helpful. Because of travel disruptions, which prevented using all available means of transportation, the staff sent a taxi to fetch us from Amalfi. Manager Leonardo was attentive throughout our stay.
Without doubt the best hotel we have ever stayed in ! Beautifully appointed with great attention to detail . Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and there were many personal touches we haven’t experienced before. The restaurant is very special and breakfasts are second to none ! We...

We had high expectations when checking in, the hotel is very cute from the outside and in a good location. The rooms are very tiny and extremely outdated, the beds are like sleeping on slab of cement the pillows are flat as a pancake. The rooms are extremely noisy the restaurant was right outside our room and is sooo loud. The hallway noise is even worse. The doors to the rooms slam and it sounds like an earthquake, you can hear everything. There is no sound proofing in this place. Had to sleep with ear plugs and a sound machine on loud and could still hear everything. The bathrooms are also so small that there is barely room for one person to get ready in. Overall this hotel is in desperate need of an upgrade!!! Would not stay here again

My husband and I had the best dinner on the entire Amalfi coast at the restaurant at Hotel Palazzo Murat. We enjoyed everything from the eggplant parmesan appetizer to the gnocchi first course, but the star of the show was the pasta with shaved truffles, we loved it so mush we had to come back on our last day in Positano and have it again!
Marco is amazing and took such great care of us, he truly knows how to service guests and took care of the whole restaurant! Maria was warm and welcoming and a great assistance to Marco as was Sara. If you get a chance to go this is a must try, at least once if not twice in one week!

My wife an I stayed 5 nights at the HPM last week and I am still dreaming about the experience, longing to return. Walk up the small flight of stairs from the chaos of the Positano crowds and you are immediately in an oasis of quiet and beauty, greeted by the always smiling and always helpful Leonardo and his amazing team.
Our room (room 25) was beautiful, with an amazing balcony (private, framed in bougainvillea, and providing a priceless view of the Church of S. Maria Assunta, the marina, and the Positano pyramid). We loved having aperitivo on the balcony after exploring the Amalfi cost during the day.
Breakfasts were dangerously good - the fresh fruits and vegetables, the coffee, the juices, the pastries, and the lox and whatever the white fish was (swordfish?).
Dinner at the hotel restaurant was also incredible. The food was so so good and we were treated like family by the staff.
Lastly, thank you to the pool manager, Antonio. Antonio is one of the nicest people you'll meet and he watched after guests' like a hawk, always there to assist with whatever you need. Just one example - after taking our drinks to a bench by the garden because the pool was closing, he found us and brought us aperitivo snacks without us asking.
The HPM is a special place and we hope to return.

Hands down the most memorable stay in Italy. Aside from the amazing views that the property offers, and the convenience of being in the heart of Positano without the hustle and bustle going on outside its doors, Palazzo Murat, is truly an oasis in the midst of the beautiful madness that is Positano. What really made the difference was the personalized attention we received from everyone in the property, from Leonardo, the GM, and Elena, our server for several meals, everyone made sure to make us feel welcome and at home. Can’t recommend this hotel enough!!!
