Judging by previous reviews, people really love this hotel. I had mixed feelings. Yes, it is grand, with large bedrooms, beautiful grounds and a large, modern swimming pool. But it was too formal for me. The service was efficient, but not particularly warm. The room furnishings were not to my taste - peach satin curtains with swags and tails, yellow dralon sofa, brown furniture - a 1980’s idea of luxury. As we booked through Amex we had an upgrade, to a side sea view, but there was still an attempt to upsell to a full sea view at check-in. This is a particular gripe of mine. The hotel was half empty, so either upgrade to the higher category room, or don’t bother offering it. It’s a charmless way to greet a guest. Other hotels we stayed in on this trip included Il San Pietro Di Positano, La Scalinatella, Capri and Borgo Santandrea, Amalfi. For me, these 5 star hotels offered better value for money, more stylish bedrooms with beautiful furnishings and fabrics, and warmer service. But if you like a very formal atmosphere, perhaps the Excelsior Vittoria would be a good fit.

This hotel is superb. We return here every year because everything is so addictively outstanding - service quality, drinks quality, views from the terrace, location, Bosquet (which surely deserves more than its one star - we’ve been at far worse three stars), and our favourite hotel manager Tiziana who now welcomes us like family. We got married here this year - Tiziana and the hotel completely exceeded our expectations. She thought of every detail and was on hand for every minute of the event. Food exceptional (a tasting menu for a wedding party). Wine endless and delicious. Service and set up faultless. Neither we nor our guests could quite believe how good it was. Many want to come back. 12/10 recommended - either for holiday or wedding.

This was our second time visiting this premiere hotel. The staff is truly amazing. We were welcomed back with genuine warmth. Everyone we encountered from concierge to housekeeping goes out of their way to ensure a memorable experience. The hotel is elegant and timeless. The terrace views are incredible. Strolling the gardens is magical and such a contrast to the bustling streets of Sorrento. The spa treatments were top notch. Pool and workout room are good...but we didn't spend too much time at either.

Sorrento's best hotel by a long chalk rejoices in a great position above Marina Piccola. We come back every year, and can honestly say that this is our favourite hotel for its outstanding staff, atmosphere and ambiance. The super efficient staff are always pleased to welcome us. We always look forward to drinks on the terrace in the evening and enjoying the outstanding views. One of our best meals was at the hotel's Terrazza Bosquet , where the service competed with the food for all round excellence. Thank you for looking after us so well.
