We have visited New Orleans several times and have tried a few different hotels. I was VERY impressed with this hotel, the service and the room. We have stayed at the Royal Sonesta and enjoyed staying there but I think we have found a new spot.
I love the old school charm, the chandeliers, the flowers in the lobby.
The rooms were very nice, with good, old-fashioned furnishings and a very comfortable bed. They were also quiet, an unexpected bonus in the French Quarter. The extras, like robes and slippers, turn down service with little chocolates and bedside waters, as well as really nice toiletries, are appreciated. Our room also had a very nice oversized tub, complete with bath salts. The towels were slightly larger than regular hotel towels, and actually soft. All these things point to a really high-end hotel, and were much appreciated.
All staff were very friendly and helpful. The doormen greeting us made us feel like we returning home.
All in all fantastic, can’t wait to return.

Hotel Monteleone is a gorgeous, historic gem in New Orleans. The customer service was outstanding, and our housekeeper, Cristel, was excellent—our room was spotless! A truly elegant and memorable stay. We highly recommend and will come back to this location.
Friends stayed here - we got to enjoy the bar and see their room
This is an old school NOLA experience and, if you can pull it off, you should. Gorgeous old hotel with a lot of history. Our friend stayed here and we got to see their room as we met up and the room was beautiful. My favorite part is the Carousel...
This is an old school NOLA experience and, if you can pull it off, you should. Gorgeous old hotel with a lot of history. Our friend stayed here and we got to see their room as we met up and the room was beautiful. My favorite part is the Carousel Bar where the Vieux Carre was born. Friendly staff, but the bar does get busy.

Arrived to a beautiful, albeit mobbed, lobby. It wasn't people checking in, but dozens of bachelorette parties and bar crawls trying to get into Carousel along with people just stopping in to take pictures with the Christmas decorations.
We were checked in very quickly by an extremely friendly staff. We stayed in the tower and the room was gorgeous and immaculate. It overlooked Iberville Street and the view was unremarkable. And even though we were on the 11th floor we heard noise (brass bands, car stereos) into the wee hours. We just turned up our sound machine. It's a bit of a trade off to be so close to everything. We could walk to all the spots we wanted to hit.
Sadly, we could never get into the Carousel Bar as it was packed all weekend and never got to use out drink vouchers. Had breakfast in Criollo one morning and found the food average and the service was mediocre. However, we had room service a couple of times and the service was fast and friendly. Food was much better those times.
Plan on returning, but not on a weekend. Hopefully it will be less crowded.

Just one block away from Bourbon Street, but we preferred Royal street so much more, it has some very nice shops and vibe.
We walked everywhere from here, never used a taxi (only when we went to Dooky Chase which is amazing).
The rooms are well appointed and very clean, Housekeeping is amazing.
The hotel is elegant, front desk was efficient, the concierge is amazing (he had some really great restaurant recomentations such as the French Market Restaurant),
Barbara at Criollo is out of this world, thank you for your hospitality.
We loved hanging out at the Carrousel Bar, even if we never had the chance to sit on it since it was always full of customers. But you can hang around it and listen to great Jazz and have some cocktails in there, the ladies getting your drinks are amazing.
We checked the Ritz Carlton and we where so happy to have chosen this hotel instead, location is everything.
The only issue we had was that one elevator was out of order.

Ideal location, exceptional service
The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting sites in/ near the French Quarter. It is a grand old hotel with exceptional staff and service. The onsite restaurant Criollo is excellent and the Carousel Bar is a fun experience. The staff were all friendly and welcoming.
Great hotel, but several things didn't make our stay great ~
It's a great hotel and centrally located. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. There were a few things that kept it being a 5 for me. The so called 'little things' add up. The restaurant was not open for dinner. They don't do dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday....
It's a great hotel and centrally located. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. There were a few things that kept it being a 5 for me. The so called 'little things' add up. The restaurant was not open for dinner. They don't do dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday. It was raining so we walked across the street to Mr. B's Bistro. The doormen would open the door, but they would be talking to each other and one time when we were leaving, they were talking and didn't even look up. They should be greeting every time going in and out. There were robes but no slippers, which is typical of that caliber of hotel. There was also no pin or paper in the room. It took them forever to bring our car around from valet. They somehow couldn't find it and we waited awhile, so, not great. Again, the little things add up. Do better Monteleone ~

First, I want to say that the hotel is absolutely stunning in its appearance . Unfortunately that is the only nice thing I can say. Our room was tiny and over stuffed. The door to the bathroom was frosted glass, so when one of us used the bathroom at night .... the other gets a light show. They have a feature in the room that is a lighted under-bed, that I believe is supposed to activate when someone getsup at night. Sounds nice .... except ours did not activate that way. It turned on and off all night long for no apparent reason. The night manager came to my room at 1:30 am with a piece of tape to cover a sensor. She wanted to hand it to me to fix the problem. Funny thing .... the idiot did not know where the sensor was but she expected me to
know. Sadly, I did not. Soooooo I had yet another light show .... ALL NIGHT LONG! The manner admitted that this is a problem but they are just letting it happen anyway. Around 3:30 in the morning a vehicle was parked down on the street below posting their music so loud, I could feel the vibration of the sound. When I called down to the front desk to complain, they said, "We have no way to control what happens outside of the hotel." I had to tell them to call the police ... the staff at the front desk were collectively all idiots. Staying at the Monteleone Hotel was the WORST decision we made for our trip to New Orleans. I would not recommend it ever to anyone. The staff were completely dismissive to my concerns.

We spent 3 nights at Hotel Monteleone and we really enjoyed it. Hotel has a lot of charm and is very centrally located. Hotel is in the heart of the French Quarter and just a block away from Bourbon Street. Rue Royale where the hotel is located is full of nice boutiques, restaurants and stores and is far less noisy compared to Bourbon Street.
Room was great, spacious and very clean. Very comfortable bed. Everything was there such as a safe, a coffee machine etc. Great bathroom too. Service was very attentive and great. Rooftop pool on the 16th floor is heated and there is lots of sun. It was very good and very pleasant.
We tried the bar, the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Food was really excellent and acceptable value. Service was also great. We did not make it to the Carrousel bar as it was always occupied.
So overall, an excellent stay and an excellent choice. We initially debated about Monteleone and a few other 5 stars hotels but, clearly, Monteleone was the best choice as everything was perfect.

If you want to stay a block or two off the craziness that is the French Quarter, this is the perfect place. We could walk everywhere but there wasn't a noise problem. The staff were attentive. The rooms were wonderful, comfortable bed. Our unexpected highlight was the rooftop pool. True, the hotel does need to pump some more $ into it (like how could you have a pool bar and NOT have TV to watch sporting events?!?!!) but Earl (the pool operator) is ON IT. Would recommend and will hopefully return.
