We really enjoyed our stay here. The suite was awesome with a private deck, a fireplace and a jacuzzi tub with a gorgeous view. What made our stay particularly nice was our hosts. They were very friendly and helpful even with limited English. We really wanted the "mate" experience and our host was happy to oblige. He prepared and shared the special tea as we sat at the tiny bar as he explained the ritual. It was very sweet and one of the highlights of our trip. There is no restaurant but a very nice breakfast is included.

The Amigos is a short drive out of the town located on the side of the hill. From the outside it looks very rustic, mostly made out of wood and the interior is wood as well. The room was adequate and the bathroom had a jacuzzi tub and shower. Be careful for the tub floor is very slippery when wet! The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was included in the room. Breakfast was simple, cakes, cereal, toast and pastries. Orange juice, coffee and tea were also available. An okay stay but nothing extraordinary. View from the room was of the mountains which was exquisite.

Wow. How Do I begin to describe how horrible it was staying in this "hotel" was. Let me explain. When I first arrived, there was no one even at the front desk. It took ten minutes for the owner to come downstairs and he complained for several minutes, cursing, about how "annoying" customers were being. Totally unprofessional. He was generally rude the entire time I was there 5 nights. He laughed in my face for basic requests (to turn off the sprinklers so I could leave the establishment, to purchase snacks, etc).
One of the MAIN issues with staying here was that it felt as though we were intruding on a family's home. The pool is constantly being used by the owner's children, and extended relatives (there were cousins and aunts relaxing at the pool, using the 3 of 4 pool chairs). And you know those relatives werent paying customers. So you can't really hang out there comfortably. The same goes for the "shared living room" in the hotel - the children are watching cartoons 24/7 so you can't relax there.
What else? Hmm well the owner changed the price on us when we checked out because 'the exchange rate had raised in between the time we made our reservations and the time we checked out.' Which makes no sense. The price you pay should be the price advertised and the price agreed upon in your reservation. It's unfair and unprofessional to surprise your customers with higher rates upon check out. It's totally ridiculous actually.
Hmm what else? Well you can't take your key with you when you leave the hotel, and if you return after the owner is asleep you have to find a hidden key on a wooden beam near the roof and open the door and then somehow put the key back up there. It was ridiculous. The breakfast is advertised as "regional breakfast." Since when is "regional", of Patagonia, toast and coffee? That's generic.
The rooms also are extremely hot in the summer - there's no AC and there's not a fan. When we asked if they had a box or standing fan they said "open the window" which we obviously already had open. The room had two tiny windows that let no air in. It was difficult to sleep or rest peacefully. Truly.
They also left our room uncleaned and 100% unattended one day. They claimed they knocked on the door but that's simply not true. They are lazy and ridiculously unprofessional. When we asked for at least more toilet paper (since they could not clean our room) they told us that they had no more....
Furthermore, there were countless times that there was no one at the front desk. I mean COUNTLESS. Which wouldn't be a huge issue except that they make you leave your key with them... So we found ourselves waiting around ten, fifteen minutes to be allowed INTO the room we were paying $100 USD a night for. It was absurd!
Please note that the hotel is located on top of a VERY large hill so unless you're traveling in car you will have to hike up and down (and battle water sprinklers because the owner will laugh at your request) just to leave and enter the hotel.

We are a gay couple and we were treat it as one more couple staying in the hotel.
The view of the lake from our jacuzzi in the room was priceless.
The room wasnt incredible big but it was very comfortable with a big spacious bathroom, which is important for us.
I would've create some shelves in the closets, that is my only critic to the hotel.

The hospitality of all at Hosteria Amigos del Bosque was fantastic and we felt like very welcome guests. The staff were both helpful and insightful and contributed to a very comfortable first week in Argentina.
We came here to 'escape to the country' and we weren't disappointed. The location is set amongst the trees, with views over one of the many lakes of the area. Our room, one of the suites, was fantastic, with amazing views from the main room and balcony as well as the jacuzzi bath in the bathroom. I would recommend this room in second!
Great value.
Only thing to note for future visitors is that the hotel is not smack bang 'in' Villa La Angostura, it's a 5 min drive from the edge of that small town. This was what we wanted as you need to be outside the town to get the views, but worth noting that to have a rental car for this area would be very helpful.

If you´re looking for an intimate place 5 min. outside the busyness of Villa La Angostura, this is worthy of consideration.
