Summary of Verified Guests at Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa
Travelers had a fantastic experience at the resorts in Tahiti and Moorea. They praised the over-water villas, especially those attached to the beach, for their unique combination of luxury and authenticity, and the views of the sunrise, manta rays, and stars from these bungalows were particularly noteworthy. The well-maintained grounds, clean beaches, and lovely gardens at the resorts received high marks as well. Guests enjoyed the excellent dining options, especially the casual dining at the Rotui Grill and crepe cafe. The ability to snorkel directly from their bungalows, the free access to kayaks and paddle boards, and the superb service, especially at the spa, were memorable parts of their stay.

This is a great resort just a ferry ride from Tahiti. Here we had the best of both worlds, an over-water villa attached to the beach! There are only 3 of them, and they are incredible. We do not like the standard over-water villas for many reasons, so this was cool for us. The pool is very lovely and has a great beach area. The villa itself was beautiful. The grounds are very well maintained. There is no AC at the resort. Nothing is walkable. 2 restaurants will come and get you and return you when you are finished.

By vast the majority of staff are friendly and courteous adding to the Polynesian experience.
Now the not so good. The main restaurant ( The Vahine restaurant) is overpriced and of inconsistent quality. It is however is excellent for breakfasts and on buffet/ entertainment evenings.
The arrangements regarding the pool/ beach attendants need attention. Firstly some of the staff need to be trained in customer service and one in particular can be rude bordering on agressive. Towels need to be obtained by an archaic system of cards, the beach canoes, boards etc need to be returned by 5 pm when most guests want a sunset experience. One final point. We stayed for eight nights but at no time was there any management visibility !!
Would we re visit this resort-yes.
Mostly a positive experience.

AI and travelers reviews focus on furniture and service at Hilton Moorea. However, it’s about the cultivated aquarium that opens to the seas. It’s the amazing sunrise from your bungalow bed, spotting manta rays at sunset, and the countless stars looking up from your dock landing. Further, Tahitian staff are attentive and gracious hosts. This Hilton attracts diverse guests and mostly from USA. Mostly couples, some kids, some single friends.
At the stairs of Bungalow 81, you’ll find one of the most active coral formations. I especially loved the tiny blue fish and baby angelfish. Beware of the Picasso fish—they nibble and will humble you.
The property should eliminated plastic bottles, perhaps switching to reusable glass containers like those used at Canopy properties.

For a luxury stay on the island of Moorea it really comes down to either the Hilton or the Sofitel. After our stay on this incredibly beautiful island we are so happy with our choice of the Hilton. We had just finished a week on Bora Bora in the lap of luxury and the Hilton Moorea was such a nice blend of luxury and authenticity. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Hilton Moorea. The resort itself is gorgeous. It feels very much like you would imagine Polynesia to feel like with beautiful, verdant green mountains, thatched roof huts and sublime crystal clear azure waters.
We were here to celebrate a milestone birthday. Check in was relatively smooth. The only minor snafu was that we did not get the room we were hoping for. However, once we settled into our premier ocean view bungalow, # 83, we were delighted. It may not have been the best room or location at the resort, but it was pretty spectacular.
First, let me just say that if you’re traveling to this island, you really should spend the money on an overwater bungalow. It makes the experience so much better than you can even imagine! The room consists of a fairly large bathroom and a king size bed with approximately 2 x 4’ glass panel on the floor for viewing. However, the whole reason why you spend the money for an overwater bungalow is the outdoor deck and view. The deck consists of two levels, one sitting area primarily undercover, and then a small platform with access to the water via a ladder. One thing that we enjoyed so very much at this resort was the massive amounts of coral surrounding the bungalows. This resort felt very mature. Yes, it probably needs a little bit of attention and some updating but that didn’t really take away from any of our experience. The resort felt like it’s been there for a while and that was very comforting. The coral had, obviously, a lot of time to grow. There were tons of fish. It was really, really pleasurable. After our daily excursions and exploring this beautiful island we were so delighted to come back to the room and simply hang out and read, listen to music and snorkel.
One fabulous thing this resort does is provide you free access to kayaks and paddle boards. Each evening after our day and before dinner, we would grab one of these and spend an hour or so cruising around the resorts waters. We highly recommend doing this.
Now for the food, the breakfast buffet was included in our rate and we really enjoyed it every morning. The food was fresh and delicious and had pretty much everything and more that you could possibly want. The lady making the eggs each morning did a masterful job and was so friendly. The only complaint I would have is if you’re going to make hashbrowns don’t put them in a pot with a lid over them. They get soggy instantaneously! But we’re pulling threads at this point! We did attend their Polynesian dinner and show twice. We really enjoyed the food from their buffet and the show was very entertaining. We ate several times for lunch by the pool and the restaurant was terrific. We do encourage anyone who visits this beautiful island to get out and explore and try some of the many restaurants nearby - especially Rudys!
Throughout our stay, we interacted with a variety of the staff of which every one of them was cordial and helpful. I would say it wasn’t quite the level of service we experienced in Bora Bora, but it was completely satisfactory. However, the true gem of this resort and highlight of our time here, was the spa. The hostess Julie was such an absolute pleasure. She would spend time with you getting to know exactly what you desired in a massage. She was so unbelievably good at her job and such a pleasure to speak with. We had three massages while we were on property. Two of them were with the masseuse Juliette. She was simply divine. Some of the best massages we’ve ever experienced! Sure wish she lived closer to home!
Overall, our experience with this hotel and resort was tremendous. I certainly hope we make it back to the island of Moorea and we would without a doubt stay here again. We have already recommended this resort to all of our friends and family. We certainly hope you enjoy your time here as much as we did ours!

Property is a little older but we were here for the lagoon and the reef and it exceeded expectations. The resort also set up a tour for us and we enjoyed the Polynesian show-both wonderful. I would say the only negatives were the gym which had 5 machines and 3 of them were out of order and a coffee shop in the lobby to just grab a muffin or pastry before early morning yours would be nice. A truly great vacation!!

We are just back from a stay at the Hilton Moorea, and overall had a good time. It’s expensive, but it’s also somewhat unique, so we decided to splurge on a holiday getaway here.
A few pluses and minuses to mention:
We found most of the staff to be quite friendly and helpful, but there were a handful of notable outliers that we found very cold, bordering on rude.
We booked an Overwater bungalow at the end of the pier, and it was a great location. That said, the nearby ice machine was broken for the duration of our stay, which meant a long walk anytime we wanted some, which was often, because the small minibar in the rooms don’t really cool the contents much.
As other have noted, there are quite a number of broken or cracked boards in the deck, so watch where you step. Also, several of the workers race around on their golf carts in a way that made us sometimes feel like they found us to be an inconvenience. They’d race up behind us and stop in a way that was startling.
The room itself and the bathroom were spacious and clean. Bed was very comfortable, and we found our location to be quiet. Great showers! The sliding door to the deck had seen better days - all kinds of bends and gashes in the metal closing mechanism. At check in, they strongly encourage you to leave that door locked when away, because your room is accessible from the water side. As a a consequence, we were perplexed that the housekeepers generally left that door unlocked. We also found it odd that the housekeepers were smoking on the pier.
They are tremendously unclear about what is included and not included. Our stay included Christmas, and the website when making reservations said that the Christmas dinner was included. On site at the resort, there were flyers advertising a Christmas Eve dinner, at a substantial additional cost. I asked at the front desk, and the person looked us up and said the Christmas Eve dinner was included, but not the Christmas Day buffet. And, she looked at me like that was the stupidest question she had answered that day. It started to make us wonder what other things we neglected to ask about that are unclear. This would be a super easy problem to solve with minimal focus. In the end, the Christmas Eve dinner was included, but they charged us double for the drinks we had. I lacked the energy to dispute it.
We found the food to be fine, service a bit on island time, and prices high. The location of the Hilton is such that there’s really not much else within an easy stroll, so unless you have a car rental, you’ll likely eat most of your meals on site.
On day of departure, it kind of summed up our experience when we called to get a golf cart to come pick us up with our luggage, but it never happened. After another call and wait, we elected to just walk. I lacked the energy for a third call.
In summary, the Hilton has the location and potential to be a 5 star resort, but deferred maintenance and very inconsistent service takes it down a couple of notches for us, particularly when balanced against the price you pay.

Went on a honeymoon and the staff was so incompetent. First they took over 45 minutes to pick us up to go to the hotel. Second, the person who greeted us seemed unable to pull up our reservation and needed us to print out the reservation confirmation. I was traveling with family and they randomly dropped bags in rooms with one room getting no bags and another getting to sets of bags.
The service for the bar was fine but the front desk was a total mess. They did nothing to rectify any of their errors and acted annoyed that they needed to help.
The service would be fine if it was some random Hilton but for this price? What a disaster

The last time we were here (over a decade ago), the hotel was an Intercontinental. A completely different experience - it’s unsettling and unpleasant to see how far this place has fallen. There is no longer a lagoon to snorkel in, the room we were in was in need of significant maintenance, and the dining choices were fair to poor. The staff tries hard, and is consistently pleasant and upbeat, but they don’t have much to work with. The staff also appear to be working twelve hour shifts, which impacts their ability to provide consistent service and is unacceptable to me to see as a guest. It’s surprising that Hilton even allows their name to be used on this resort, given the amount of deferred maintenance needed - deck boards that are unfastened and trip hazards, wall coverings peeling off the walls, toilets that don’t flush properly, exterior lighting not functioning, internet and television service that goes down daily and Is spotty at best, restrooms on property that are not in service, the list goes on. There is a lot of history to the Intercontinental shutting down during pre-COVID, but to reopen it without a full remodel left a haphazard lodging experience. Not recommended

Staff and service is exemplary and the 3 restaurants are all great.
There are other places to eat but evening meals elsewhere require transport and taxis are expensive. Recommendation - get the hotel to book Rudy's and Rudy's come and pick you up and bring you back and Rudy's is fantastic.
The beach and pool area is lovely. The lagoon is magical for snorkling and kayaking (no extra charge).
Highly recommended.

Stayed six nights in a King Lagoon View Bungalow (#54) at Hilton Moorea. The resort matched the online description and images. Resort was just the right size and never felt crowded, in fact it felt empty most of the time despite being fully booked.
King Bungalow with Lagoon View: In very good condition and exceptionally clean! The daily housekeeping was very through and they filled the complimentary minbar each day with Water, Beer, Sodas and Juice. In room coffee was great. We picked up some milk at the store to make our own Lattes in the morning before going to breakfast.
Great location on resort, and being mostly on the beach and 98% over water as opposed to 100% overwater saved me about 25% on cost of the room. (Note: Some reviews have noted a build up of seaweed under these beach bungalows, we had no issues at all). We had much less traffic past our bungalow than if we had booked a true "overwater" bungalow, but same great platform direct access to lagoon to snorkel.
Snorkeling: Fabulous snorkeling right off the bungalow. Plenty of fish varieties, corals, and just a great time. So easy when you do it right off balcony.
Grounds/facilities: We never used the pool as we had the lagoon at 80F to enjoy, but the pool area was neat, clean and had plenty of loungers. Same for the beach area which never seemed crowded. The staff takes great care of the place. Every plant is trimmed and all sandy areas are raked daily.
Staff: Superb in every respect. Friendly and helpful. Hats off to the best omelet chef: Silvia who made our breakfast each day.
Dining: Expensive, but not much more than other places in Tahiti/Moorea. Rotui was our go to place for lunch/dinner when eating at resort. Great service and what a view ! Loved the fish burger at lunch.
Breakfast: Enjoyed Diamond Status free continental - upgraded to full for only 9000 XPF (about $8) a day. Great fresh fruits, pastries, yogurts, and wonderful coffee.
All in all a five star of five star experience. We rented a car which allowed us to travel around the island to shop, explore, eat at little roadside restaurants and smoothie bars. Car rental also meant we didn't need to book transport from ferry to hotel.

A shout out to Oline at the front desk-she was amazing, Heinui at the Rotui Grill and Pierre at the pool/towel station. We have read that the food at the restaurants is just ok however we enjoyed some good meals at the Rotui Grill. The snorkeling around the resort is great, we saw alot of fish, black tip sharks, small eagle ray and puffer fish. We would highly recommend this resort

Great location but it seems like this Hilton is “past its prime”, there was just a lot that did not meet expectations from the price we paid. I was thinking it would be a high end luxury vacation but it’s really just a mediocre room at the beach. We opted for a garden bungalow with a pool room, as we’re moving on to Bora Bora and staying in an overwater bungalow there. The pool is tiny and looks like it maybe needs to be replaced? The deck is downright dangerous with nails sticking up and boards loose, rotting and uneven. The food is mediocre at best and the staff doesn’t seem overly interested in making you comfortable or pampering you. We ordered burgers by the pool and they brought us buns with cheese and bacon - no burgers!! Had to bring them up to the bar and ask where our burgers were because the waitress dropped the plates at our table, walked away and wouldn’t turn around when we called her. When I brought them up to the bar the person there pretended she didn’t understand what I was asking her for or why I wanted a burger. At dinner last night, there were 4 tables sitting, (8 people!) when we were brought to our table and we had to wait 15 minutes before receiving a menu to view because they didn’t have any more menus - took 2.5 hours from the time we sat to when we left the restaurant. We don’t even drink any alcohol, shared an appetizer, had mediocre entrees and two desserts - TWO AND A HALF HOURS. And even then, we had to go to the hostess stand and ask for the bill to sign because no one brought it to us. Little things like that have been adding up over the few days we’ve been here and really disappointing us. The lagoon is gorgeous, the location is perfect, the fact that you can walk off the beach into the ocean and snorkel is incredible, the rest is just less than average.

This was for 2 nights after a cruise. First, easy access from Papetti. 30 minute ferry boat - comfy and regular service. Then 20 minute taxi from dock to hotel. Stayed in over water room - fabulous. FABULOUS. Comfy room, walk out to private deck, then down to platform and into the water. We must have snorkeled 5 times a day for our 2 days. Beautiful clear water, coralheads all over, awesome marine life (rays, sharks, fish) and only 5 ft deep +/-. Very safe. Nice pool, beach, restaurants. Great service.
Would definately go back.
