Love this place. We stayed here once pre-covid. It was time to treat ourselves again for a special event. We enjoyed our accommodations. The place is lovely. You stay here and you feel you are in a different world. The pre-fix menu with wine pairing was superb. I thought the wine selection paired perfectly with each of the meal items in this 5 course meal. Trevor, our waitstaff was excellent. He gave a very clear intro to the wine and meal. The staff at this place from check-in to dinner, to breakfast, to check out were very friendly. Will definitely come here again.

We recently visited for our anniversary. I was so thrilled that they have rooms that allowed us to bring our dog. The grounds are beautiful as are the rooms. They had enough lighting outside that when the dog had to go out at night, a flashlight wasn't necessary. What sticks out the most for me was the staff. Upon arrival we were wished a happy anniversary, and there was a card in our room. The waitress we had for breakfast was always super nice, as was the waiter we had for dinner on our anniversary. Food was great and we left stuffed. We had drinks one afternoon and even though the bartender wasn't in, they had no problem 'figuring it out'. It was very much appreciated and a lot of fun. Front desk check in and check out was quick and they were both welcoming and fun to talk with. Can't wait to go back!

Our room was adequate, & the bed was very comfortable. The entrance to our room the mat at the front door was very dirty & could do with a clean. Also when I wanted to open the window’s for some fresh air the sill’s had lots of dead bugs that hadn’t ever been cleaned. This is not luxury. The grounds were kept well. The restaurant is overpriced, It was certainly no 5*

Went here for one night to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Stayed in the Lockes nest room above the restaurant in the main building. Nice room , spacious with a firm bed. Wife had a facial in the spa while I explored the grounds. Quiet and pretty surroundings. Had a great dinner at the inn. Started with a salad and the crab soup. Wife had the lamb chops I had the steak. Everything was cooked well. Split a piece of cheesecake for dessert. Service was friendly and efficient. No rushing you here. Very nice experience and about one hour from Baltimore and DC. Will definitely be going back.

My husband and I have stayed at Hillbrook Inn several times, most recently for our anniversary. There is a reason we keep coming back—the inn is charming, the staff are all incredibly helpful, and the grounds are beautiful. This visit, we brought along our dog and stayed in one of the cottages. It was comfortable and spacious, and they had treats and bowls set up for our pup.
It’s in a great location—close to Harper’s Ferry and easy to access hiking trails and historic sites.
We had a great massage at the spa—highly recommend adding a treatment to your visit.
The only reason this is 4 stars and not 5 stars is the food at the restaurant. During our previous visits, we absolutely loved the food. I think they now have a new chef and the food is less great. Most of our meals were over salted, and I had both a quiche and a lava cake that were hot on the outside and completely cold on the inside. The restaurant service is great and it is still one of the best options in the area. But the difference in the food quality was noticeable. Still, it’s not enough to change our overall feelings about Hillbrook and we look forward to our next stay!

We stayed at the charming Hillbrook Inn, also full of history, in Charles Town, WV. If you are in the area, this is a great place to stay. The Inn grounds are stunning and it is beautifully decorated inside and out. It looks like you are in Bavaria when you drive in and every little detail is considered in the room choices as well as the breakfast that was included in our stay. Absolutely delicious! The Summer Cottage was available last minute and made for a great nights rest.

From start to finish our dining experience was top notch. Christian was an amazing bartender for before dinner drinks, very personable and creative. Service from Jade at dinner was impeccable. The chef is amazing, one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had!

I have been going to Hillbrook every year for four years now and they never disappoint. The grounds are so stunning, you don’t want to leave. The rooms are beautiful and unique and some are pet friendly! The soaking tubs are worthy of the name, they have a fire pit, a “life size” chess set, hammocks, swings, and I haven’t even gotten to the food. Their chef is inventive and adventurous and every taste was pared perfectly with the wine the sommelier chose. Their bar tender Christian really stood out as he practiced making his new fall time creations with us and his “s’mores cocktail” is gonna be a great hit. He was also personable, friendly and pours a fine drink.
I always get a spa treatment and this time my husband joined. I got the 24k facial and he got a massage and both of us were so relaxed we booked a second night just to be able to revel in the luxurious experience.
Highly recommend Hillbrook to any and all looking for a beautiful WVA getaway.

We just returned from a wonderful weekend at the Hillbrook Inn. While we had high expectations before our arrival, those expectations were universally exceeded. The Hillbrook Inn is a great escape from the stresses we face daily.
We stayed in the "Overlook" room in the main lodge. The photos on their website accurately illustrate the charming nature of this room. Although what can't be shown in photos is how comfortable the bed was -- great linens.
Please note that the access to Overlook is via a series of wooden stairs on the outside of the building. It's great for privacy but would be a difficult if you're mobility challenged.
The restaurant was excellent. While the choices were limited the execution was superior. The real surprise with respect to the restaurant were the creative choices on the included, cook to order, breakfast menu. I had Eggs Benedict but the banana crepes were tempting. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her quinoa bowl.
I would be remiss to not mention Christian, our bartender. His hospitality and creative cocktails made a memorable stay that much better. Thank you!
Finally, how much did we enjoy our stay? We've already booked a long weekend to return in November.

We stayed for 2 nights in the Summitview Suite at the Farmhouse annex while travelling to visit Harpers Ferry and Antietam. This place is a GEM! Super clean, quiet, and comfortable. The inn itself is gorgeous and everyone on staff is extremely professional and welcoming. As others have mentioned, the breakfast will knock your socks off and has both decadent and healthy options prepared with local ingredients. We also ate dinner there one night (advance reservations are required), which I very highly recommend. Great food and wine in a beautiful, romantic setting.

This was our third visit and our second overnight stay. Since our very first visit, the ultimate level of customer service, the quality of the dining experience and the opulent and beautiful surroundings all make it very hard to not return ... As often as possible. We've stayed in the Tranquility and the Serenity suites. Both beautiful, well appointed and very comfortable. The Serenity gets my nod with the awesome 2 person sauna. Top it all off with a complimentary full breakfast and you have a truly memorable experience. Treat yourself to something special and visit the Hillbrook.

My husband and I stayed in the Fall Cottage for two nights for a parents’ getaway and were very pleased with our stay. We booked the Fall Cottage for some privacy and so that we could look at the back of the Inn and the lawn from our room. The room was clean and cozy, and delivered on the privacy and view.
The breakfasts were fresh and the dining spaces were beautiful with beamed ceilings, large windows, and attractive decor. While the weather didn’t allow for it, the grounds include hammocks by the winding creek and other outdoor activities.
One evening, we dined at the on-property restaurant. I had the tasting menu and each course was delicious. The menu was unique but still approachable for a non-foodie palate.
The staff were kind and very communicative throughout our stay.
We used the Hillbrook Inn as a base for exploring the area: vineyards in Loudoun County, shopping in Shepherdstown and Charles Town, and hiking in Harpers Ferry. It was a perfect variety of activities for the weekend and all within a reasonable drive.
We would definitely return to the Inn and recommend it to others!

When on the road, we favor inns with restaurants in-house, to avoid having to climb back in the car. Such is the case at Hillbrook, though rarely would we expect a level of cuisine we would otherwise associate with a Michelin star.
Though Executive Chef Jan Van Haute was not present on a weekday evening before Christmas, his Chef de Cuisine executed the ambitious menu to a high standard, beginning with a lightly tossed and dressed salad of local tender lettuces, beets, goat cheese and shaved Burgundian truffle.
Perfectly prepared wild turbot was surrounded with islands of butternut squash and parsnip purees, "garnished" with Belgian royal caviar, plated in such an aesthetically compelling yet unpretentious fashion that the steep price swiftly became a distant memory. We feared that an additional counterpoint of foamed lobster bisque would upset the balance. We were wrong, and used a chunk of local sourdough to mop up every last trace.
Sashimi-grade Icelandic Cod was served on a potato mousseline with hints of leek and white wine, all in harmony with the glorious chunk of Cod, ubiquitous as a "safe" choice on menus throughout the region, yet rarely allowed to sing like this.
For desert, Chef was kind enough to improvise a special request, using the pistachios and raspberry coulis from one desert as the base for a house-made blood orange sorbet. The plate arrived as a spectacular assemblage of colors, textures and flavors.
All this, on the outskirts of Charles Town, West Virginia? Astonishing, and well worth a special pilgrimage. The wine list is also strong, and the Inn's accommodations are gracious and comfortable. We hit the road again grateful for the focus, attention, talent and ambition, all in ample supply at the Hillbrook Inn. Cheers to all!
