We loved this place! Santa Barbara itself is a great town and full of excellent restaurants and bars. Harbor House Inn is very well located, just off the sea front and only a few minutes walk from the main downtown area. We stayed in Room 2, which was beautifully appointed with high quality finishes. The room was large with a very comfortable bed and a superb bathroom. A real plus was lots of storage for clothes (drawers, plenty of hangers, etc.). The kitchen facility was also excellent and the WiFi was strong.
We were given a very warm welcome at the front desk when we arrived early, and we were able to check into our room straightaway - along with a very kind gift of a bottle of red wine as we were celebrating a special birthday. This was very generous and it was really good wine!
There is also a selection of complimentary snacks available all day in the reception area, another nice touch. Overall this was one of our favourite places we stayed on our road trip and would thoroughly recommend it and stay here again if we return to Santa Barbara in the future. The only thing we would do differently is stay longer!

The room was absolutely stunning with coffee making facilities and fresh drinking water with free refills. Fruit and breakfast bars are available from reception.
The location is perfect for exploring Santa Barbara, a short walk to the beach.
At check out the guy was very knowledgable about the best scenic route for the next part of our road trip.
We would definitely stay here again.

This was our first trip to Santa Barbara and the reviews here were absolutely correct and I’m so glad we based our decision from other’s feedback.
Prior to our stay, I asked the staff’s recommendation for the quietest room. That led to booking 116C, and it was fantastic.
This is a studio apartment that has a lovely kitchen, king bed, big closet, fireplace and full bathroom. It’s located off the road and I just the perfect location if you want some peace.
I had asked for an extra comforter and it was waiting for us in the room when we arrived.
The room is unpretentious, but has just enough fanciness to be awesome! Smith tea in the kitchen! The cutest studio surume clock in the kitchen, fantastically soft and comfortable bedding, perfectly fluffy towels. They even had a big fan in the closet that acted perfectly for white noise to sleep to.
Even the place settings are charming. I tried to google to find the great coffee mugs they had in the room, but they are discontinued and cost an arm and a leg to find off resell sites.
The hotel is walkable to so much great stuff! Restaurants, the pier…
We had a rental car and the room came with a parking spot. Very convenient.
When we left to fly home to seattle, as I boarded the plane, I realized that I had left my jewelry in the room! I immediately emailed the hotel and within minutes, Karen had replied, found my jewelry and made a plan to get it back to me.
This hotel is the best and the experience was truly exceptional. Can’t wait to go back.

Attention to details, lovely place
Wonderful stay at Harbor House Inn. Our room, 16B is lovely and large. The kitchen included nice appliances and everything we wanted for breakfast in our room. The owners pay attention to the details and each room is unique. A great stay, we would definitely come back again.

Last minute trip decided to go to Santa Barbara because other plans fell through. Just went for one night. Wasn’t sure what to expect since this wasn’t a traditional larger hotel. Sometimes the small “quant” places lack cleanliness or amenities to try to make it feel more homey, but this was not the case. All the staff were helpful when needed. The parking situation was okay for us, but we purposely drove a smaller car. Definitely a nice place to stay for more than one night. Has a full sized kitchen if you needed to be there for an extended time. Felt more like a small apartment than a hotel. Would go back.

They provided excellent bathroom amenities and the kitchen is stocked with butter, creamer , coffee, ice, tea, and things for cooking and getting started. They also have snacks and coffee in the welcome building and you can refill water bottles there. Very friendly and helpful staff and information for sight seeing. They have free bikes for use and chairs/ towels for the beach :) Would definitely recommend—very relaxing, quiet, and less than two blocks to the beach and beach walk and a few blocks to State Street.
