Arrogant staff made this nice hotel unbearable
Absolutely terrible charged rather than pre authorised our card, rude and arrogant staff at check in, doorman yelled at us to use another door on departure one day, huge tour group meant breakfast was not available and 45 euros for 2 spritz in the bar
Feels like a Ritz Carlton!
This hotel is wonderful. We had a King room and it was large with plenty of space for all our essentials. The bathroom is also large with a double vanity. The breakfast buffet did not disappoint! So many options for food and drinks. The staff was very friendly and helpful....

So many options for food and drinks. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel has many sitting areas for meeting with people or just to sit back and take it all in. The rooftop bar overlooking the city is great! This hotel has a Ritz Carlton feel to it. Being right next to the train station was great. You do not hear any noise from the trains.

We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel after our Amalfi trip. We loved our stay here, location is fantastic ( just opposite Centrale FS). Would recommend their rooftop bar for the views and the food.
A shoutout to the concierge service of this hotel, especially Luca and Ricardo. Luca managed to get us tours to the Last Supper and Duomo which we were unable to book from the US. They both gave us fantastic restaurant recommendations and helped us make reservations as well. Overall they made our stay very seamless. Thank you!
The breakfast, and the kitchen crew were excellent and too kind to make nut free pastries for my husband. Thanks to Georgio for making us a breakfast picnic bag with pastries and sandwiches for a super early flight back home. He was a lifesaver.
I would have given the hotel 5 stars had it not been for the checkin process. Our reservation was prepaid via Amex Travels and when we arrived they said our reservation was cancelled. Fortunately, we had proof of prepayment and an active reservation on the Amex app. Unfortunately, they didn’t give the upgrade we were eligible for. We would have let that go as well. But they promised to send a bottle of wine as we were celebrating our anniversary which never arrived. They never acknowledged their mistake and made it sound like it was our fault and nothing to do with their reservation system.
Overall a great stay , and yes I will pick this hotel again for the wonderful concierge service and the restaurant staff.

The breakfast was honestly the best I’ve ever had and the service in the restaurants truly amazing. The room had a beautiful balcony overlooking the trains station and was luxurious. I really enjoyed myself. It’s really hard to get taxis from here at night so plan in advance. Small niggle / found the bathroom amenities and toiletries a bit ordinated for the hotels standard…

Nice rooms. Great, great bath products. Nice bathroom and shower.
Nice breakfast but they need 2 pp at the checking desk, waiting 10 mins to be seated when rushing out to the train. Cappuccinos are 9eu!! Terrace bar was nice.
It’s not in the city center, which we liked, it’s more of an Italian business hotel so fewer tourists, nice. They have a shuttle every 40 mins back and forth to city center. Make a resie for seats!
Literally across train station, so perfect if you’re taking the train; we’d 100% stay here again!

Great base for exploring Italy!
What a wonderful experience staying here! The staff was so friendly, especially Joy! Convenient to train station so it was a great base to begin and end our journey around Italy. And the metro made exploring Milano easy.
Nice rooms, good breakfast and elegant spa area.
Superb service from the front desk to the breakfast dining. Kudos to the very helpful concierge who helped us with obtaining train tickets. Quiet and clean hotel. Large suite. Welcome gift from manager as titanium Elite member was appreciated.

Across the road from the historic train station, this hotel is a shuttle or taxi ride away from the main sights of Milan.
1. The Room was good and comfortable.
2. The spa is well appointed and excellent. Ice pool would be a good addition.
3. The long waits in multiple areas of the hotel are a serious concern. This includes the very slow lifts, the queue at breakfast (it is much better to allow people to find their own place), the main guest services number (9) was virtually never picked up during our stay – we had to walk downstairs to get assistance on many occasions. The bellman and the taxi queue was also problematic. And finally, a huge queue to pay our bill.
If the hotel can fix these long waits in all the above areas then it will have a great product. Recommended with the above warning.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of this hotel! We booked primarily for the location - close to the train station. However, we had not expected such a luxurious property! The common areas are exquisite and spacious. Our room was amazing - we had booked an Atelier Suite, and they upgraded us to a Signature suite. Although I have no doubt that the Atelier Suite would have been very nice, the Signature suite is extremely spacious and comfortable. A great layout -- and even a balcony. Large bathroom with a shower and steamer, as well as a large tube. There was a nice sitting area as well as a dining area. Very comfortable. The service was friendly and easy to access the concierge, who were always very helpful.
Breakfast was good - plentiful and tasty, but busy - they seemed a bit understaffed. We very much appreciated that they had breakfast arranged for us early before our international flight. One misstep was the door man who was arranging cabs on a busy Saturday evening - who seemed overwhelmed. Aside from that, a lovely stay. We would return, and highly recommend.

The Exclesior Gallia is a stunningly beautiful property right next to Milan's train station, so if you take a train in from another city, or the airport, the location is incredibly convenient, especially in a city that is hard to navigate by car. This fact, plus the luxury of the property, is one of the reasons I almost always stay here when in Milan!
As a Marriott Ambassador I am often upgraded at this property, and recently just was to a Signature Suite, the room was absolutely lovely with tons of closet space, a lovely sitting room with couches, a nice room with a table for dining, and the bedroom which was wonderfully appointed. Our bathroom had so much marble and a great bathtub and shower. Overall the room was excellent and I could have stayed for a month!
Marriott elites (plat and above) get free breakfast which is a full breakfast including a large buffet as well as cooked to order eggs, waffles, and pancakes. It was lovely and we utilized this each day of the stay! The spa was also beautiful with an ice room to help keep me cool, but nice seating areas, great steamroom, and other amenities. The pool is also beautiful and comfortable, and not often crowded as this isn't the top choice hotel for those with kids!
Service was always stellar and laundry was done promptly and well. A complimentary shuttle leaving about 2 times per hour goes to La Scala, and the service is easy to book. It's run on Mercedes Vans which work perfectly for the service.
We will certainly be back - I do want to try Casa Brera which is closer to the Duomo and La Scala, but this hotel is just so great it's hard to walk away from. I do think they need to make the elevators go a bit faster though...

We were really looking forward to our stay here, unfortunately it was not a very good stay. Our stay was booked over six months beforehand in one of the signature suites, one of the nicer and more expensive rooms in the place. When we arrived, slightly after the time given as check in time, we were told our room was not ready. To make up for this we were escorted to the bar and told we could have a free drink while we waited, something we really did not want at three in the afternoon. Our room was not ready for three hours after this. We had to just sit and wait there, which ruined our whole first day in Milan. Nothing else was done by the hotel to make up for this or apologize in any way. Once we finally got in our room you could tell it had been very quickly cleaned. There were crumbs and hairs all over the place, it may not have been vacuumed at all. At that point though we were just happy to have a room and be able to freshen up. They lie about all these amenities, like a roof top bar and restaurant and a roof top pool. None of those things seem to actually exist. We ate the breakfast that was included one day and that was just gross. The eggs were literally green. When we told someone about it they just went up and stirred them. They have bread that you have to cut yourself, which essentially means twenty other people have touched your piece of bread before you eat it. The bacon was essentially leather. Nothing was very good or even edible. We just gave up and went and bought food elsewhere. We tried breakfast in the room the next day, but the food was just as bad. At night the bartender was rather rude to us. I could go on but It was just not the experience of a “Luxury Hotel” at all. Marriott should really reconsider selling this hotel that way because it really did not live up to others of theirs I have stayed it. I would never stay at this hotel again.

We usually don't stay on this side of the city when we stay in Milan, but my wife loves the architecture of the central train station and you get an excellent view of it from the terrace of the Excelsior Hotel Gallia's bar.
The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The amenities were good and the housekeeping staff were very attentive and met requests efficiently and courteously.
We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant for any of our meals (it's Milan ... there are just too many excellent choices), but each night we did have an evening drink at the bar, sitting on the terrace. After a drink we would go down to the first floor where there is a cigar lounge. A big, big plus for me. Milan has strict smoking laws, so having access to such a lounge was wonderful.
The staff overall were wonderful. We were only there for a few days, but the bar staff and the first floor staff greeted us by name each day.
Unlike some cities where we tend to stay in the same hotel on each stay (especially when in Rome or Naples), in Milan we always change to a different part of the city. However, since we enjoyed our stay so much, we just might stay here once again on our next trip.

Summer 2025 was sweltering in Italy, so it is good that the Gallia is right next to Milan's central railway station and we could quickly get into the Metro subway station. The Gallia still runs a car shuttle to the Scala/Duomo area but it books full quickly so Metro is a faster option. Even closer were the tramway stops for lines 5, 9 and 10. As always, the staff are who make the difference at the Gallia, they are always very helpful and professional.
