Fabulous view from the room
Fabulous room overlooking the watering hole. Saw so many animals including giraffes, elephants, hogs and so much more. We were so lucky to have that room. The 2 on-site mongoose chilli & mango are adorable. The massive spider in my room wasn’t though and we had a few of them....

They were really great at dealing with our health issues, arranging a trip to a local medical facility and being amazingly helpful (e.g. arranging a one-off private game drive to allow a drive at a slower pace)
The staff were all super helpful and friendly throughout

We had a wonderful time at the Elephant Valley Lodge! We stayed for two nights and wished we stayed longer. The tents or maybe a tad less luxurious then at other tented camps we stayed at butt the main attraction here is the incredible watering hole located right outside the electric fence that surrounds the camp, and we had nonstop action from giraffes and elephants! Everyone we encountered was kind, attentive, and truly interested in making sure that we that every possible need was met. The beds are super comfortable and we certainly appreciated the hot water bottles on the chilly nights. We also appreciated the laundry service which is included for all guests, and found the meals to be delicious. Chobe National Park is truly incredible and our game drives were incredible. We were definitely recommend and return to this beautiful lodge!

Comfortable bush location and excellent value for money
Stayed in luxury tent. Plenty of wildlife, including view of the local watering hole, whisk was floodlit at night.
Florian and his team did everything they could to make our stay special, including arranging special, individualised safari trips at short notice.
Poor Service, Mediocre Meals and Long Drives to Get to Chobe National Park!

This lodge was one of three on a 9-day Botswana safari and fortunately it was first in line as the other two were great where this one was very disappointing.
The few positives were:
Nice location close to town overlooking a watering hole with serenely positioned permanently-tented accommodation. Tents included AC (welcome in the high summer temps) as well as a fan and spacious open plan bathroom (no door for the toilet area). The housekeeping was fantastic providing spotlessly clean rooms, fresh towels every day and washing turn around rapidly. Rooms are set up at night while at dinner with mosquito’s nets over the beds.
The night time chef was excellent and her food was very enjoyable. It was especially nice to witness the pleasure she took in providing tasty, very well-prepared food. Breakfast on the other hand was very disappointing. Not only was it the same boring selection each day but the toast and some of the other hot items such as the eggs, sausage and bacon where not hot. There was a group of 15 visiting at the same time as us and the single waitress responsible for everyone focused on them and pretty much left us out in the cold to fend for ourselves. She also had an attitude when we asked for anything. On the first morning most of the breakfast choice had been consumed by the last group who were provided breakfast before us so we had the choice of their left overs. We had to request on both mornings that they provide fresh filter coffee which was totally empty the first morning and only a small amount left on the second. On one all day drive, a packed lunch was provided which included a single small chicken leg, two dried out meatballs and a half a soggy sandwich with a multitude of items on it as well as a candy bar and apple. Honestly for what we paid we expected substantially more.
The other big negative to this lodge was that its located a solid 30 minutes or more from the Chobe gate so each day you have to endure a road transfer in an open air safari vehicle for an hour or more just to get into the park. On the way home at night, we had to cover our faces to prevent bugs constantly flying into our eyes and mouth as there is no protection from the outside when bugs are at their worst. Instead of a sunrise and sunset drive each day, this lodge provides an all-day excursion which departs later but is quite tiring being out in the vehicle and open to the elements and hot temps most of the day. The only advantage is that it results in an hour transfer time instead of two for two game drives a day. The guides don’t carry rifles so not nature walks occur and they all depend on the Chobe River for game siting’s as the animal’s head down there during the day to drink and in the case of elephants to bathe and play in the water. On the day of our transfer to our next concession we opted to sleep in and take the morning easy rather than waking up really early to do the same thing over again. We have done many safaris in South Africa and had expected more from Botswana and at the prices charged we were very under-whelmed.
This lodge does not accept credit card payment for tipping the staff. As such we requested that they drive past the ATM in Kasane on the way to the airport for our flight so that we could draw out cash for tips. We had our bags ready to be collected well in advance so that we would have enough time and told the front office management who said they would take care of them. Our guide arrived back late from picking up his next guests and unknown to us our bags were still in our room leaving the guide and helper to scramble to get them when he was late already. We were very stressed as we wanted time to draw out money and were by then concerned that we might miss our flight. It was all so unnecessary and just added to our unhappiness with this lodge. Fortunately, our next two lodges were through the African Bush Camp group who own and manage about 17 lodges and they were fantastic and even better than we had expected on our Botswana Safari's. Dont waste your money on Elephant Valley Lodge. You can get much better value and avoid a disappointing experience.

We spent Christmas here, with all the Christmas fare that we would have at home. Had the most incredible experience at this lovely ‘camp’ site. Safe secure with staff 24/7. It’s posh camping, I would say, Has heavy duty fixed tent, set on concrete foundation, Complete with a semi mess door, double bed, mosquito net, everything you’d expect to find in a hotel room, nice roomy bathroom & toilet. Lovely shower. Has a veranda with comfy chairs to relax, over looking the water hole where all sorts of animals & large birds, (including giraffes & elephants) come all day & night to drink. Sounds of nature all around. Electric fence around the campsite. The staff were the absolute best. Always attentive with big smiles. Florian, the manager was always there day & night, always making sure we were ok throughout our stay. Staying late & up early. Our stays included all food and drinks, river cruises & game drives with our guide Simon who was so good & knowledgeable. The food was lovely. My only regret is we couldn’t stay longer.

EVL is rustic charm mixed with fine dining and a fantastic chill factor. We stayed one of the tents that faced the water hole. Now, while there were no animals to be seen at the hole, due to a lot of rain that had them going elsewhere, the view was still wonderful. The accommodations were glamping to be sure. The food was outstanding and much appreciated before and after each safari outing.
Regarding the safari outings, know that if it is raining, you will get wet. There are ponchos provided, but the open Land Cruiser does not really keep the elements at bay. Additionally, we spent a majority of the game drives on unpaved roads. Kind of felt like you were riding a horse (great for core strength). According to my iPhone, I burned calories being jostled about during the drives! And, yes, there are bugs. And, yes, they hit your face especially at dawn and then again at dusk. Just keep your mouth shut and you'll be fine.
Of course, the highlights of each outing were sightings of: hyena, hippo (many), impala (lots), elephant (in herds), lion (in one or two prides), kudu, crocodile, fisher eagle, countless birds, baboon, giraffe, and more. While we didn't see all of the Big 5, we were not disappointed.
