Don Cesar

We took a last minute get a way and stayed here, and it was fabulous. A beautiful property, with friendly staff and top notch food. Many great amenities on the property too. It's close to a bunch of attractions which was also nice. I highly recommend

I had seen the hotel from my boat many years ago & said I would like to stay there one day. We decided on a short stay-cation to see if it lived up to the price & hype. My first strike is that they nickel & dime you for everything. There's a daily parking fee & daily resort fee on top of your hotel charges. When you pull up to unload the valet guys try to strong arm you into using their service. If not, they try to rush you away from the entrance to check in. Strike two. When walking from the parking lot to the entrance there was a big empty Doritos bag on the sidewalk along the entry ramp & an empty drink glass from the bar on the wall. easily noticeable while driving. None of the valet crew ever pick either up. Not impressive. The interior common area is impressive in the 1920s Art Deco style design. I guess historic is code to small rooms. The closet was tiny, the bathroom was small, the entry to the room was too small for two people. The pool area was nice with outdoor bars for the guests. The beach front area was nice with adequate beach chairs for the guests. They do have some water sport related experiences like jet skis, kayak, paddle boards, etc. They are extra, except if you kayak or paddle board before 10AM. There are boutique shops to buy cabana wear & overpriced food & liquor. There is an outdoor restaurant by the pool area. Did not see the menu. There are plenty of restaurants, stores, & shops immediately outside the resort to go eat, get snax, or beach stuff. The big attraction is the beach which is always beautiful. It was nice to kind of splurge for a change of pace. However, I don't believe the value for what we paid was worth the price. Next time we take a stay-cation, we'll go to the Tradewinds, )which is much bigger, more beach activities, more selection of things to do) or another hotel down the street..

First time visiting for work and fun. Resort is oozing with charm. Wonderful staff. Beautiful expansive beach. Heidi the concierge was fantastic. Enjoyed the restaurants. Room was nice though bathroom is very small (probably due to original construction in 1928). Loved it overall

The treatment by the staff varies the The more established staff still provides white glove service, but more than 80% of the people we encountered serving us were new and I would say poorly trained. If you have choices, a luxury resort consider another place My 35 year experience with the Don has ended. I’m sorry to say.

My wife and I traveled to the Don for our 4th year anniversary and it was amazing. Prior to arriving, I called the concierge, Heidi S. and brainstormed ways to make the room special for my wife upon arrival. Heidi suggested a beautiful flower arrangement from a local flower shop, chocolates and a handwritten note. It was perfect and my wife loved it. The property was beautiful and the staff was super nice and helpful. They even helped me get tickets to the Bucs game. It was just a great trip and we will definitely be back.

The pink palace on the beach doesn’t disappoint. I stayed there more than 30 years ago when I graduated from high school and wondered if it would live up to those special memories. It did and then some. It is pretty special to stay some place with such a sense of history, perfectly nestled on powder white sand. But, what makes the Don so special is the people working there. From check-in to the incredible team working the beach on a very busy Labor Day weekend (thank you Paul, Mac, Quinn, and Trace), to the upbeat and positive group serving up breakfast at Society, everyone had a terrific, guest-focused attitude.

Review My wife and I were on St Pete beach and decided to rent chairs at The Don Cesar Friday 23rd. What great customer service we received from Trace Johnny and Quinn. They were extremely knowledgeable about the beach and they told us the history of the hotel and went above and beyond with taking care of us. Then it got very dark so we started walking towards the hotel Paxton and Andrea was closing up the bar but stayed open and served us a cocktail. Your staff is impeccable and we look forward to staying at the hotel and visiting your beach as well. Thank you for a lovely time. Scott and Lynn

Kim, Amanda, and Wendy were beyond amazing at check-in. From the rose (champs) to the map and explanation/tour of the resort, for my first time here, I’d definitely get married here and/or stay here over and over again!! Best staycation ever!!

It's a great property that has been beautifully renovated, the food was very good, and the bar/service/beach staff were all excellent. However, that's where the good news stops. The front-of-the-house management (front desk, managers, etc.) is a hot mess. In summary, there were botched charges for upgrades not granted, stanch...

It's a great property that has been beautifully renovated, the food was very good, and the bar/service/beach staff were all excellent. However, that's where the good news stops. The front-of-the-house management (front desk, managers, etc.) is a hot mess. In summary, there were botched charges for upgrades not granted, stanch refusal for upgrades or late checkout when they were clearly available, miscommunication about timing of having to move rooms, and most troubling...a mystery (supposedly solved, although I have my doubts) of how someone's personal car/house keys ended up in our room, on the tabletop next to our own personal items, while we were still occupying it. Hotel security was involved to figure out what happened, and while an explanation was given, not much adds up and no consideration was offered by management for what was clearly a mistake that could have gone badly (i.e., theft of our items with no explanation, etc.). Only a promise to take care of us if we ever return, which seems unlikely for some time.
