The Del Marcos hotel looks good but could be better at providing a top-notch guest experience. Our room was a little worn around the edges and had a dead plant on the patio. The bathroom was tiny. However, the front desk staff was very helpful and got us extra towels, which we exchanged for a couple of rags the cleaning crew had left. The front desk was not staffed while we were there; you had to go to the next-door property to check in and get help (as well as a welcome glass of bubbly).

We had a bad start to our trip at the Del Marcos hotel. When we got to our room we were welcomed by a fully unmade bed with the TV on. I closed the door as quickly as possible because I thought there might be someone in there. We went back to the lobby and Edwin at the front desk who was super helpful and sympathetic. He called his manager, Josef, and they upgraded up to a room at the La Serena Villas, gave us a complementary bottle of wine and treated us to breakfast at their incredible restaurant. They could not have done a better job making the situation right. We will definitely be returning to the La Serena Villas! Thank you Josef and Edwin!

Our stay at the Del Marcos Hotel in Palm Springs was absolutely delightful! This charming boutique hotel perfectly captures the mid-century vibe with its stylish decor and serene atmosphere. The pool area is a fantastic spot to unwind, surrounded by beautiful palm trees and cozy lounge chairs. Our room had a patio with an outside tub and firepit which was perfect for our romantic and cosy getaway. Tucked in between the palmtrees and with a mountain backdrop we enjoyed our lovely quality time together. Bonus, its prime location makes it easy to explore local shops and restaurants (walking distance). I highly recommend the Del Marcos hotel for a relaxing and/or romantic Palm Springs getaway!

I’ve been coming here for 15yrs but this is the first visit since Kirkwood took over and it’s so sad to see how standards have slipped and the staff literally don’t give a crap about guest service.
The whole place needs a serious clean and maintenance and when you add that to the other things Kirkwood have removed (the happy hour cocktails, snacks, decent breakfast offering, an attended reception) I wonder how long this historic motel can keep going.
I’m sharing some details in the hope that someone at Kirkwood cares enough to fix things for future guests as despite the GM saying she wanted to come and talk to us she didn’t manage it (despite us being there for 5 days).
You can no longer check in at the hotel reception, a text tells you to go to the neighbouring hotel - during my time there many guests clearly hadn’t seen their text message as countless guests lugged their bags up to the front doors to find them closed.
When we got to the room that we have stayed in for the last 10yrs we found that the safe wouldn’t work, there was half eaten food left in the kitchen cupboards, a half drunk cup of coffee on the worktop, several sockets didn’t work and the room smelt horrible.
Thankfully we were given a different room (it had a leaking bathroom sink that we needed to put a bowl underneath to stop water flooding the floor) but it was definitely better than what we were given originally.
Everything at the hotel is now done by text (asking for rooms to be cleaned etc) which sums up everything about how the hotel is now run - they have no interest in engaging with their guests.
Even when checking out no one cares to ask how the stay was.
Really sad situation.

Don’t be tricked by the website! The Del Marcos Hotel is underwhelming and this reviewer does not recommend this accommodation to savvy travelers. The lobby is basic (including the stoned front desk clerk), and there’s no bathroom except in the guest rooms. A higher end room is barely adequate with holes in the wall from missing artwork, a flimsy closet and very dated bathroom with thread-bare towels. There is no restaurant or bar and the mini bar has a single bottle of water.
There is no onsite staff and it is barely supported by the next door La Sirena Hotel. This means there’s no one at the hotel for questions or to help. Expect to wait 15 minutes after calling La Sirena (when they answer) to provide any service
Most disappointing, t’s priced more than nicer hotels in the area.
While some people may be excited about staying in a historic Cody building, expect no frills in this accommodation that definitely makes you know it was built in 1946.

The Del Marcos was recently acquired by new owners. We’ve been visiting for years and honeymooned here so we have many good memories. This was our first time staying since the sale.
Positives:
- New fridge, toilet and hand basin in the Errol Flynn room
- Still playing good music
- Kept the beautiful pool area as it was
- The one front-of-house staff member we saw was friendly and helpful, but clearly running things single-handed
Negatives:
- Fewer staff (there was no one to tidy up in the evening so towels were strewn about on the walkways until 9am the next day, the fruit water station was empty all afternoon, there was a smoke alarm going off in one room for about half an hour until we notified the front desk (to be clear, it was just a flat battery, not a fire))
- No more happy hour
- No more hot breakfast buffet items, just yoghurt, apples and basic muffins
- No more chilled water in the room’s fridge
- No more Del Marcos branded mugs (replaced by Amazon Commercial brand mugs - depressing)
- No more loyalty discount
This is a really special historic hotel. The fundamentals are still there and Kirkwood is clearly investing in some in-room improvements which are great. But I hope they will reinstate some of the Del Marcos’s special features like higher quality hot breakfast items, and a friendly staff member circulating a tray of happy hour drinks in the afternoon, so people have a reason to choose it over other Palm Springs hotels. It felt a bit quiet and lifeless during our stay, in a way it never has before, with a lot of empty rooms. I don’t run a hotel, but it seems a shame to buy a special place and strip out the special experiential elements to save money as operational cost-saving only works if you have revenue. We would return cautiously, but Palm Springs has no shortage of boutique hotels to choose from, so I really hope Kirkwood reinstates the Del Marcos’s differentiating elements and keeps its loyal customers.

It's a diamond in the rough but the manager Alexandra is so sweet and accommodating it's definitely worth a stay and for so many reasons you'll most likely return. The pluses are the quiet and peaceful rooms and pool and that the rooms are very large. It's also directly across from so many restaurants and an easy walk to the heart of downtown palm springs. With a little paint and sparkle, some better space planning and furniture touch ups, and a better breakfast with some protein the Del Marcos caneasily be a $300 experience per night.

I will start with the good: Staff friendly,(when they are there). Pool area nice, fridge worked well, hotel in good location for tours, walk in town.
The bad: This room was ridiculously overpriced, uncomfortable. The Las Palmas room was very claustrophobic, small, resembled a college dorm room, no decor but a couple of orange lamps and pillows. The Hollywood Retreat room photos are misleading. Two of these rooms have private balconies supposedly, but the Las Palmas does not. Overhead windows out back had no window coverings so the room was bright all night with light from in the pool. People in the pool at night caused the water to move in front of the bright pool light causing a flashing light disco effect in the room. There is NO dresser and NO luggage rack. The safe was broken or disabled. Doors and remotes were sticky. The balcony is really a walkway where people in the Errol Flynn suite next door were constantly walking by. You have to keep the shutters closed so it felt very confining. There is no phone and staff are not present after 6pm. If you have a problem you must call the security guard at the next door hotel. The bathroom has a shower and a very small toilet, and sink is so small you have to keep the liquid soap container on the back of the toilet and the door hits the very small toilet. The lighting was not good at table or in bathroom. Breakfast is coffee, apples and yogurt, no juice. We feel we were overcharged for the dorm like room. Fool me once.

It's so sad that this place has been destroyed by being sold to a chain. What was once a charming, customer-centric home away from home is now a soulless, hollow cog.
They used to have wonderful attentive front desk staff that is now replaced by anonymous texts and notes saying "We're away from the desk right now"...and no help or service whatsoever.
They used to have an amazing breakfast with hot food from the restaurant next door, fresh fruit, and juices, now they have a carafe of coffee and some stale granola.
They used to have a great happy hour with cocktails, wine, snacks, and a chance to meet and chat with other guests...now they have...nothing.
The Del Marcos has gone from an independently owned little gem to a soulless, heartless link in a chain, it is the Taco Bell of hotels.
We used to come here once or twice a year but will never be back.

What a gem of a place. We had a fantastically relaxing stay at this fabulous hotel. We stayed in the Christopher Kennedy Suite and it was perfect. Loved the outdoor tub and the beautiful pool area so relaxing. Reception was so friendly and welcoming. Would defiantly recommend this wonderful place.
Outstanding staff, particularly Rose, make this beautiful retreat an oasis of calm. The pool is beautiful. Restaurant service from next door La Sirena makes for delicious poolside nibbles. Beds are comfortable and suites are spacious. Highly recommended.

Incredibly impressed by the beauty and vibe of this hotel. As you drive up it looks like a classic 1950s hotel. Very cute, kind of a time warp. But then you get checked in and see your room and your pool and realize you picked the right place. The entire area is extremely clean and well appointed. We stayed in the luxury room which was amazing with an outdoor claw foot tub. Make sure to bring bubble bath. My wife and I used it a couple times in our one night stay.
