This is a beautiful establishment, warmly appointed, perfectly landscaped, and just what we needed in terms of relaxation. The outdoor spring has jets and alone is worth the price of admission. The indoor spa is beautifully appointed with a large warm pool that sources water from the spring and several areas with jets and waterfalls, a sauna, an enormous steam room with a waterfall and a strong eucalyptus and mint aroma, and several relaxation areas including hanging beds and a "silence room" with ambient nature sounds. The hotel is also beautiful. We got the smallest room. It was small but well-appointed in warm tones and equipped with everything anyone might need. The bathroom was spacious and the walk-in shower has a handheld and a rainshower head. The best part is the terraced area just outside with outdoor seatings amidst beautifully landscaped flowering vines and lanterns. The restaurant was absolutely excellent, some of the best cuisine I've tased and mostly seafood at this time of year. In all I highly recommend. The sea water in June is still a bit too cold in Tuscany so coming here was perfect to enjoy the sunshine and the warm water spring, and to enjoy the indoor spa. I would love to come back in October or November for a cozy, magical feel. The waiting staff were all very friendly and professional, too. Great place.

We decided to go to Italy for our honeymoon and this was our very first stop. We rented a car from Pisa and drove to the spa, it was an easy and beautiful drive, there is plenty of parking. We were greeted with welcoming and helpful staff and everything was so organized. The spa is even more beautiful than the photos. It was a wonderful time and it felt very intimate because everyone was so respectful and it was quiet, so you can relax and just enjoy your time. We may have been the only English speaking guests during our stay; while we did take the opportunity to practice speaking Italian, there are english speaking staff as well. We also explored the nearby towns of Campiglia Marittima (must visit!), had dinner at Pizzeria Elena in town at Venturina Terme, and visited olive farms and wineries near Bolgheri, in case you wonder what else you can do here other than the spa. The only thing we wished it had was an electric car charging station since we had an electric rental car. But thankfully there is a charging station 6 minutes away in town! Otherwise, we recommend this to anyone considering a relaxing stay.

We loved our stay at the Calidario resort. Our room was 111 and really lovely (nice little balcony, too!). Everything was beautiful. We spent the whole day swimming and relaxing, and then had a great dinner at the restaurant. We didn’t hear anyone else speaking English – looks like all of the other people were from Italy and Eastern Europe. It was great to find this local gem! Special thanks to Stefania and Benedetta at front desk, Valeria at the sauna and Rochy at the restaurant!

our refuge in the torrential rains
Ad-hoc booking, extremely nice and helpful personel (I speak Italian...), good room (matress a bit too hard, maybe), breakfast in the restaurant excellent! The "Spring" deal included unlimited access to the Laghetto and b&b, pricing fully adequate.

The hotel is part of a complex that includes a wellness area, a pond of thermal water and a really good restaurant and offers a variety of packages to access the different services. We took the option of staying in the hotel with access to the pond and breakfast, but we ended having dinners in the restaurant every day because the food was fantastic. Great service, cozy rooms with a terrace and great value for money.

The Calidario Hotel is a quaint little spot, which has its own thermal bath with a relatively constant temperature of 35C or 99F. Hotel guests can enter the thermal bath free of charge. As a single person I was charged about 300 Euros for a room, which included breakfast, however the value of this room, in my opinion and based upon years of travel experience, would be about 120 Euros.
Dinner in the hotel's restaurant was good and the staff were very pleasant, but the reception desk of the hotel is the same desk used by visitors to the spa and as the spa/thermal bath is often busy, hotel guests may find themselves waiting to be served in line with spa guests.
One of the most challenging issues here relates to the pillows used by the hotel. They are complete crap!!! They are about 3 to 4 inches thick and are like wooden blocks, which provide virtually no support for you neck. The result is the you will wake up every hour or so and that your sleep will most certainly be interrupted. When I complained about this important issue to the front desk staff they simply smiled, which to me was an acknowledgment of an on-going problem that could have easily been fixed long ago but which the owner has simply ignored given the additional minor costs associated with changing the pillows.
Personally I would not visit this hotel again and would advise you to avoid it given its price and apparent lack of sincere concern for its clients.

We chose this hotel, as we wanted to visit Tuscany in December, and in case the weather would not have been great all the time, we could still enjoy ourselves in the spa. Beside the Thermarium, saunas, Turkish bath, there is an amazing Natural Spring, which completes the lovely wellness experience. The area, where the hotel located is lovely.
Our room was kind of an individual apartment, which gives you a bit more privacy. It had a nice terrace, which is great, when you can sit outside in warm evenings and have a glass of wine.
The restaurant, reception and the wellness area is a short walk away. It makes the hotel a bit unique. Actually, it was quite nice to move after the abundant breakfasts and other meals.
Summer time you can walk in your bathrobes to the spa, but as we were there in December, we used the changing room, which was perfectly fine with us.
We also had a great dining experience in the hotel's restaurant. The food is authentic, delicious paired with great wines and excellent service.
All the staff was genuinely polite and helpful at all times.
They are professionals, who enjoy want they do.
Not to mention the cleanness of the well maintained rooms.
Thanks for the lovely stay! I highly recommend this hotel.

We've been to the Calidario before to swim in the main sorgente pool. Now we booked the New Year four night package and stayed in the residence. The rooms are kept very clean. However as a thermal/spa resort it is very disappointing, expensive and not anywhere near the standards of other therme in Tuscany. First of all we had to pay rent for a "set Cortesia" which is an overused bathrobe and flimsy slippers! Lockers are also on a rent basis and you have to leave a deposit! Room heating is not adequate at all - at times cold. From the room to the resort you have to walk outside, doing so in the bathrobe is uncomfortable as it is cold and using the public change rooms is absurd since you pay a premium to stay in the residence and the public change rooms are small and fill up quickly. Not kept very clean either. If you stay in the Sorgente, there is no eating or drinking (smoking does not seem to bother them though....) but you must get dressed again to go to the bar or picnic area which is outside of the complex. Be sure to have your hand stamped if you are going to the bar otherwise you will not be let in again. Staying in the residence you can enter and exit the sorgente as you please but on a daily basis it is pay as you enter not by day. The Thermarium is small, sauna and Turkish bath tiny and only three showers, so expect to stay in line especially on weekends or holidays. Natural water massages are cold and the hydro-jets very weak. Too many people are allowed into the Thermarium at a time so it feels like there is no space to relax. Again a pay per entrance not by day and residents at the hotel get a discount. Maintenance around the complex is generally poor as odours and smells are noticed all over and parts of the ceramics are falling apart. Water is cold in some areas. Public shower area has been recently refurbished. Breakfast was pathetic, pastries tasted stale, old and we found the bread old as well. One hot drink is brought to you. Boiled eggs were cold as if they were in the fridge. New Year's Eve party was very disappointing, food was poor, I noticed many people not eating all of their portions - which were small. We had to chase down the waiters to get more water and wine. The package had boasted live music for the night, but we spent the entire evening up to just a couple of minutes before midnight listening to people through karaoke. At midnight we were offered one half glass of Brut, but after dinner no digestives or other alcoholic drinks were offered. Area in front of the bar was nicely set-up with open fires but still completely out in the open. If their prices would be more in line with what is on offer, it would not be too bad, but paying the same rates (and sometimes more!) that I've paid in other Thermal and Spas with much better services leaves this one in the dark shadows. Seems that they try to sell more than they offer and fall short. Definitely not worth the money asked.
