Beautiful and relaxing break from touring Christmas markets.
Highly recommend this beautiful resort. View of the castles, excellent service, outstanding food. The bartender made excellent cocktails. She created drinks just for us. We thoroughly enjoyed the wellness area and outdoor spa and pool.
Fantastic Bavarian Hideaway
Das Ruebezal was an excellent experience! The food was fantastic, the staff was exceptional, and Adly the bartender is a master bartender! The rooms were excellent and you can’t beat the views. Would highly recommend especially during the winter.

Panoramic views of Schwangau from a superb hotel
Fabulous views, wonderful cuisine, excellent and very friendly service. Had a lovely 10 days holiday with thanks to all. Nothing too much trouble and extremely well run hotel. Despite the mixed weather conditions plenty to do and really enjoyed our Sunday morning breakfast at the mountain hut…
Lovely Bavarian Experience

Nothing less than five stars- we loved everything about Das Rubezahl! From the moment we pulled into the parking lot we were charmed.
Room: We were instantly checked in and taken to our beautiful first floor junior deluxe suite- which had a living room separate from the bedroom and a balcony with a panoramic view of the castles. It was BEAUTIFUL. No A/C, like others have said, but the temperature was mild enough to leave the door open for cool air. The bed was comfy, spa shower was hot and doubled as a wonderful clothes steamer when needed. The toilet room was separate from the shower and down the hall a ways for more privacy.
Meals: We purchased the half board package so we had dinner and breakfast before checking out. Dinner was the best meal we’ve had since being in Europe. Four courses, all perfection. Drinks were also amazing. Breakfast was a buffet with everything you could want- options for some cooked things (sausage, pancakes, omelets etc).
Everyone at the hotel was SO kind and English was spoken well hotel wide. We are already looking forward to coming back. Thanks for the marmalade upon check out!

Thank you for a very memorable wedding anniversary dinner at your fine dining restaurant. Great experience from start to the end. Professional and curious staff, homemade curated spirits/cocktails and tasty well presented dishes, highly recommended
Excellent food and service
Food excellent, service attentive,. Very nice room. Wellness ok, Pillows hard. Breakfast superb. Pool small. No gym, but could use excellent gym in fussen, 5 mins drive from hotel. Would stay here again, but would prefer hotel with more extensive wellness area
We spent 11 days of sheer luxury at the hotel. We can't find fault with anything.
The best hotel, best staff, best food ever. You are made to feel like part of the family. The staff cannot do enough for you. The views and the countryside are spectacular. We never wanted to leave.

We had an amazing time! It started with a glass of complimentary sparkling wine by the fire when we arrived. Our room was clean and beautiful with an incredible view. We ate at the restaurant twice and everything was delicious. I loved the open access to the heated outdoor pool and spa area. All the employees were friendly and helpful. I was a little nervous because I only know some basic German but everyone we came in contact with spoke English. The menus were also in English. Love everything about this lodge and will definitely come back again.

We visited 10 years ago with the children, who are all grown up now. The family business has grown and changed a little but retains a lot of what we love. The staff are attentive and friendly.
They struggled with my celiacs disease at first but got it in the end. Initially they took the route of omission which left me hungry. They need to offer choice and point out what is available which they did when I got eventually got upset.
The staff really wanted to help. However, they need to be careful not to make the person with dietary issue which is not a life style choice feel like a problem. I am normal and not the disease itself. I have normal needs and wants like anyone else on holiday. I personally hate to stand out for the wrong reasons. It can be rather embarrassing.
The chef worked hard to ensure I felt special. Please offer cake to a celiac at cake time, not a dessert. Be careful to bring desserts from the fridge to temperature before serving. I think introducing a gluten free choice without making a song and dance about it would be better, it is very simple to cook and bake without wheat. There such be no waste as you can freeze portions. Lable things that people like me can eat. Cross contamination can be a problem with buffets.
Some things were lost in translation as often happens, but generally this is still the BEST family run hotel in the world. It’s a very special place. It could be a little disconnected at times and information for English speakers isn’t great but we managed. There is good all round communication between shifts and teams. The rooms are super clean and well cared for. The housekeeping staff are discreet but friendly.
The owner himself is very visible which I like.
There really isn’t enough pool and hot tub for the amount of guests really. The hotel is growing and the rest needs to grow with it. A lovely out door winter hut with fire pit would be a lovely addition and get guests interacting. Too much emphasis on couples.
My husband felt the alcohol was a tad expensive, €44 for a whisky. I think more sales would be possible with better more realistic pricing.
I’d like to see a proper log fire/snug and I’m sure they notice that the front desk/bar/lounge is very disconnected and in the wrong place. It doesn’t invite people to stay a while and is more like a large long reception area. We felt the bar lacked ambience and after one evening didn’t use it again, which was a shame on a long stay.
The view from our room was incredible but the odd setting in the room wasn’t working. The bed faces the view but the tv off off to the side and only one arm chair.
Last time we stayed we felt the restaurant was too gourmet and they’ve fixed that issue somewhat. For us and other Brit’s I’m sure what they want is larger portions, traditional German food in bistro style. I know my husband prefers that. The food was pretty but sometimes lacking taste. However generally the food was very good. Chef made an incredible traditional German meal for my husbands birthday which really made his stay special. Thank you.
We had an amazing stay, are well rested and will be back as soon as we can.

This is definitely one of the best hotels we have ever stayed. It is the only one that included a private sauna on the balcony. A wonderful feature. Also it was the only hotel out of the seven we stayed at this vacation that had a screen door to the balcony. We could leave the large sliding glass door open all night. Listening to cow bells in the distance.
The hotel includes two restaurants. Both fantastic. But the fine dining one, Gams & Gloria, is truly exceptional. More than a meal, a fine dining experience. Special thanks to the Sommelier, Caroline. She made our anniversary dinner memorable.

My wife and I along with another couple came to stay at your hotel for two nights while visiting other places. WOW! If we had known how nice Hotel Das Ruebezahl was, we would have increased our stay and cut short other places. Everything was perfect.
First, the view. Spending time outside reading a book, in the pool or hot tub, having breakfast or lunch, or even talking with friends in the evening at the fire pit all the while looking at the mountains and castles is magical.
Second, the saunas, steam rooms, and quiet rooms are unreal. Moving between the steam rooms, saunas, and whirlpool makes one feel like a limp noodle. After that, move over to the quiet room and take a nap on the heated waterbed. Or, go sit outside and listen to the water fall. I think my blood pressure went down because I was so relaxed.
The breakfast was outstanding. Think of so many types of cheeses, meats, and bread that you will pop a gut if you tried to taste just one of everything. They even had 3 types of honey to use if you wanted.
Dinner at the hotel isn't just for the guests. We noticed several non-guests, probably locals, eating at the restaurant. If was so good that you had to have reservations. All the tables were full.
The staff were awesome. From the moment we checked in to when we had to leave, everyone was nice. Shout out to the bartender who made one of the prettiest Gin & Tonics I have ever soon. It honestly looked like it should have been in a photo shoot.
Hotel Das Rübezahl was the finest hotel I have ever stayed at in Bavaria and probably in all of Germany.
