We came for Christmas and we were very excited as have stayed at other Anantara Hotels before and found them amazing. Sadly, this hotel wasn’t at the same level. We have titanium status but had to request all of our benefits multiple times. The staff are amazing, but I think there’s bad management. Was also shocked to be charged €15 to use the Spa at a five star hotel. As mentioned before the staff were wonderful, especially. Vinicius who worked so hard and took great care of us. We tried to raise a complaint with the general manager but he never got back to us even after repeatedly asking for him to. Definitely would not stay again.

The resort is ageing (for example, there are some tiles breaking up in the pool) but don't let this put you off.
The rooms were large, and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and the buffet offered plenty of choice. The pool is in a sunny spot, and was warm enough to swim in early on an October morning. We enjoyed a complementary pilates class one morning.
The whole vibe in the resort is one of calm (some might say quiet), and this suited us. What really made the stay, however, was the quality of the staff. Without exception, every member of staff made every effort to make our stay great. The hotel asked for feedback a few days into our stay, and there was follow up on every little thing we raised.

We booked through BA a seven-night stay at Anantara, Vilamoura, and Algarve. The hotel has modern interiors and spacious, well-appointed rooms, some of which have pool access from the balcony. Unfortunately, as it is now the end of the season, the hotel has shut down a few of its restaurants, with access to just one Restaurant for half-boarders. That turned out to be a pretty dull chore for dinner.
The hotel does not have any access to local shops or eateries. You must either eat in the hotel (expensive) or take a taxi to Marina or Albufeira.
The hotel is a paradise for golfers, with many golf courses nearby. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

Corporate feel but good holiday experience overall.
Service was brilliant, apart from when groups arrived and then we felt a bit ignored. Hotel is nice and spacious, and rooms a good size. The hotel did have a corporate, conference feel about it so it depends what you are looking for in a stay. Breakfast was great and...
Service was brilliant, apart from when groups arrived and then we felt a bit ignored.
Hotel is nice and spacious, and rooms a good size. The hotel did have a corporate, conference feel about it so it depends what you are looking for in a stay.
Breakfast was great and plenty of fresh food.
The free taxi to the Marina worked fine, although you had to book (and can only book on the day). The only times available, though, ware 11 am, 6pm and 7 pm, so we ended up using Ubers to get back in the evening. (between 5 and 8 Euros so not too bad).
They don't have as many restaurants as some hotels so the marina is the easy answer for food. The onsite Thai restaurant was really nice and worth a treat one evening.
Overall a nice weeks stay in the sun which is what we wanted.

Myself and my partner stayed on 20th September 2024 for 2 nights and unfortunately it was one of the worst stays we have ever had in any hotel, never mind a supposed 5*.
The outside and reception area is beautiful and well maintained however that's where it ends. The hallways has wallpaper quite literally falling off the walls. The "beautiful scenes" of green gardens are in fact scenes if dead grass and ripped up soil. We had holes in the bed sheets and wardrobes that would not close
When checking in it became apparent that there was an Audi convention on which did make the hotel very busy, however the hotel failed to mention upon check in that due to this convention we would be unable to use on of the restaurants during our stay due to this. Quite frustrating considering it was the only restaurant we would eat at.
Housekeeping and the breakfast staff where incredible, however we found the valet and the staff who handled the luggage to be incredibly rude. On more than one occasion we were met with dirty looks and shaking heads when requesting access to our cars or help with luggage.
During our stay it was impossible to try and relax by the pool as the hotel were setting up for a private event, the constant banging of metal and breaking glass forced us inside to the indoor pool. To our suprise however if a guest wants to use the indoor pool it comes at a cost of €25 per person for 1 hour, I have never paid to use a pool at a 5* hotel in my life.
Upon checking out of the hotel we tried to call reception to arrange someone to take our 6 bags to reception however it was impossible to get an answer so we decided to take them ourselves, as we left the room a member of staff literally walked past with a luggage trolley and ignored us when we asked for help.
We managed to get to an elevator but this was still broken 2 days after we arrived and we were forced to walk to reception and ask for assistance. We were then met with the same member of staff with a luggage trolly shaking his head at us for causing him some inconvenience.
I received incorrect items on my invoice when checking out which needed to be rectified and when I raised the complaints the lady at the check out desk was completely uninterested.
The final blow was when we got our car back from the valet was the overwhelming smell of cigarettes. Me nor my Partner smoke.
I have stayed at a few Anatara properties and If you are considering in staying here and expecting the 'Anatara' experience I would recommend you look elsewhere. The only thing Anatara about this hotel is the name on the door.

We stayed here on holiday from 29/08/24 tem 08/09/24.
From arrival to our departure, the entire staff was incredibly friendly. We also had a rental car and it was parked (without even asking) for us in the underground garage every time. There is a very pleasant atmosphere in the hotel. Even the music played by the DJ by the pool is relaxing. Breakfast is fantastic and plenty of choice (especially the eggs benedict are recommended). Too bad the golf (Dom Pedro Victoria) is under reconstruction, but am sure when it is finished, this will be an even nicer destination.
We had a fantastic stay there. Thanks again to the entire staff !

Took the shuttle bus to the marina at night for dinner, this needs to be pre booked. Will definitely return.

We had a wonderful stay at this 5-star Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort. The room was clean, spacious, and offered a very calm and relaxing environment — perfect for a restful getaway. We received a warm welcome from both the front desk staff and the porter, which made us feel right at home from the start.
We opted for the half-board package and were very impressed. Dinner each evening was delicious, with a great variety of dishes to choose from, and breakfast also had something for everyone. (The only slight downside was the coffee, which could be improved.)
The pool area was fantastic, and the spa facilities added an extra touch of luxury to our stay. All in all, a great experience — we would definitely come back!

Where do you start. We picked this hotel based on previous stays at the Anantara Group. This is definitely not up to the standard of Anantara nor is it a five star hotel. The outdoor pools are so cold you can’t swim in them. Both the Anantara and Jet2 literature state there is an indoor swimming pool, there is not. What there is within the spa is an infinity pool which to enter the hotel will charge you €25 per hour per person, absolutely insane from a five star hotel. What they don’t tell you is two out is the three restaurants are currently closed and whilst the food and service in the Ria restaurant is very good it becomes very monotonous over a ten day holiday. The general operation of this hotel falls short of Anantara and upon research the Minor Group who own Anantara purchased this hotel as a foothold into Europe from Tivoli Victoria. The hotel is tired and soulless. We had to point out to reception that pool towels had been left uncollected on sun beds for four days. The lack of lighting around the gardens and pool areas is appalling and dangerous. The hotel location is isolated with nothing in the vicinity. The hotel runs a courtesy bus to the marina but the first bus is at 11.00am, half your day is over. Within the bedroom the seat covers are stained and dirty as are the balcony beds, balcony curtains are torn and dirty. Toilet fittings loose and missing, and the toilet door doesn’t close. No idea what the housekeeping schedule is, you can go out in the morning and return after 4pm and still your room is not cleaned, and this is with a hotel which currently has very low occupancy. What Jet2 don’t tell you is this hotel accepts dogs. We were staying here when the clocks went forward we are still waiting 5 days later for housekeeping to change the electric clock in our room. In summary, this hotel has a long way to go to follow the recognised Anantara standards of service and attention to detail, however the staff try very hard to be helpful and friendly.
