We were also able to enjoy the Alyeska Nordic Spa, the Veilbreaker Sky Bridges, aerial tram, and various restaurants onsite at the resort. It was very convenient and comfortable and the staff were very friendly. While the shower didn’t have great pressure and never got as hot as I would have liked, it was a very convenient and comfortable place to stay. The grounds are beautiful as well as the common areas.

Great view and service and even better food! The menu is a tasting menu and each course was delicious! The views were amazing from our window table. Service was very professional. Walk around the lower leval after dinner. Tram ride included with dinner reservation.
Watch out for your room service bill

If you order room service, at the time of this review they add 20% to every order. When the food is brought to the room and they ask you to sign, there is a blank tip line on the bill which makes it seem as though a tip is needed. All staff that came to our room also did not say anything about the restaurant already adding the tip, until I asked the last person. When you look at the bill in detail you will see the gratuity was already added. They mention this on the menu, but for some reason the restaurant decided to use a very small font not consistent with the font size for the rest of the menu. This is in poor taste, and takes away the overall resort experience. Do better.

The resort is definitely dated, but clean and friendly. The only exception is Amy, the concierge. I called a couple days prior to arriving inquiring about the flight seeing tours and after 30 min on the phone she concluded that the tours to Denali only leave from Talkeetna. We then proceeded to book and plant the remaining days with this in mind. When we arrived at the hotel and inquired again, as their booklet in the hotel said the tour left from Anchorage, sure enough it was the same Amy, which would have altered our entire trip!
That was VERY upsetting. The concierge should be the most knowledgeable person on the area and it was in their booklet, and she didn’t even know.
Other than that, great experience. A Bar is PHENOMENAL, especially their gumbo!
The Nordic Spa was so relaxing, but definitely worth giving it a few hours to fully immerse in it.

Subpar for the money, and actually even vs. cheap hotels

As someone in the hotel and hospitality business I probably have a more critical eye, but I was willing to look past so many of the problems with this property (staff attentiveness/friendliness, staffing levels, cost etc.) but I had to draw the line on room comfort. For nearly $500 a night there is an expected level of comfort and this ain’t it. The rooms are dated, the carpets soiled, the beds… hard as a rock, 1990s spring mattresses from hell. Worse than a Motel 6. No air conditioning also. It will tell you a lot about a hotel’s knowledge of their own shortcomings when they put high power circulation fans in the room closets as a failsafe. If I was staying in a cabin in Seward, this would be one thing. But at Alaska’s premier resort?
The front desk did not care one bit which isn’t surprising. They did tell me the hotel is renovating one floor at a time and that their premier floor 8 did not suffer from these inadequacies. This doesn’t help obviously. I could have stayed in anchorage again in a nice room, and just come down for the day, which is what I suggest anyone reading this does. I’ve wanted to stay at Alyeska for nearly 5 years and this was not the experience that I was looking for.

A beautifully appointed hotel with the common areas, outdoor gardens and rooms that will leave you with the feeling you were fortunate to have been able to come.
However, during our two day stay, our dining experiences were among the worst we have had in Alaska. We know there are staff shortages in the service industry, and that service can be slow. However, we had to wait until almost 6pm to check into our room, with little information while waiting. No commiseration from staff while we sat on our day bags. Restaurants were understaffed, long waits, and many food items were out of stock. The resto bar at the top of the tram basically could provide tomato soup and hot dogs. Quite an eye opener from what the menu offered at the bottom of the hill with its pre-bought $45 ride and eat combo. Really felt ripped off.
In summary, great property, but mediocre at best service.

This is a nice mountain resort for a summer visit to Alaska. There is plenty do at the resort from hiking, walking, etc. It is also just a short ride into the town of Girdwood. We had a very good dinner at the hotel outside on the patio. This is Alaska's only upscale ski resort. We stopped over here for one night on our way back from Seward to Achorage.

I actually really enjoyed myself in Alaska and my room was nice. Came for my honeymoon and loved the view and food. HOWEVER!!!!! My husband paid in cash $1600 that would cover the remaining cost of our stay but the resort only showed 2 cash payments totaling only about $995.50 and then charged our credit card and additional $962.80!! Although he has called to get this rectified multiple times it still has not been solved and not 1 brown penny has been given in being overcharged and basically SCAMMED almost $600. I loved my time in Alaska but I unless this gets fixed I will BOYCOTT this place and NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!!!!!

We booked for 1 night and check in was quite easy. Did not get the name of the gal that checked us in but was quite friendly. The grounds are absolutely beautiful! A few issues: only 2 cups in the room, probably designed for coffee, so no water cups , either plastic or glass. Did not think to check the alarm clock, but the alarm went off around 6 am and what a problem to figure out how to stop it. Maybe housekeeping can add it to their list when making up room. The hot water at the sink came out like a trickle, so do not know why. Ate dinner at the Forte and food and service was very good. Furniture in the room seems a bit dated plus the night stand had loads of scratch marks. It is too bad people treat other’s property so poorly. All in all a beautiful property. As most places in Alaska this time of year, was quite expensive.
