We had a wonderful stay at the Amare. The newness of the resort is definitely a plus because it is quiet. It felt like we had the resort to ourselves the entire time.
Highlights: Great food with a balance of unique (venison tartare) and comfortable offerings (delicious pizza), clean and well-appointed rooms with nice snacks and beverages stocked (note it is not a full bar in-room). and excellent activities offered. The boat ride to the beach is a great start to the vacation. The coffee shop is a really nice touch and provides great coffee and snacks (yummy crepes).
Considerations: If you want a big all-inclusive with a party vibe this is not it. Sure, you can get drunk on the beach here, but it is a quieter hotel where couples/groups keep more to themselves. We also noticed several people traveling alone at the resort - they seemed to have a balance of solo activities and mixing in with other travelers. Consider that the boat ride timing may not be precisely around your schedule as they group travelers together for pick ups and drop offs. We waited 90 minutes to get picked up at the Renaissance, but we were able to sit by their nice pool area and enjoy drinks and lunch (drinks were comped but we paid for our own lunch). We also had to depart the resort about an hour earlier than we hoped due to the boat schedule.
Beach club music: When we arrived, there was a very loud beach party at the club next door which our room unfortunately overlooked. You could hear their music anywhere on the beach or in the room, but it was quieter by the pool. We were worried that the loud music would continue throughout the weekend. Perhaps we got lucky, but the rest of our stay , (sat/sun) the beach club did not have a party or loud music. If the beach club had been blasting music every day we would have been frustrated and disappointed. Also, there is a big ugly boat at the same property that says "party cruise" that is very visible from the resort. Marriott should really consider buying that boat to have it removed from the adjacent property because it does not appear to be operational and is an eye sore.
Staff: Thanks to Eli at the bar for the amazing drinks and Mezcal tasting, thanks to Karen at the beach who was very attentive and hard working, thanks to Sonia at the spa who was excellent and super kind, thanks to Reyes the activities director for providing fun coconut painting and beach yoga.

The Almare is a beautiful hotel. The staff here are so lovely . Pancho at the pool bar was a bundle of positivity! We had a wonderful week here and will for sure go back again. The food is a bit limited at the moment but everything we had was so delicious. There are two other beach clubs either side which can be noisy during the day sometimes which is a pity for the hotel but we really truly had a beautiful time here. Would highly recommend.

This was our first time on Isle Mujeres and OMG Almare made it perfect. It is the perfect, intimate, and adult all-inclusive resort. It is not a party resort, so if that is more the vibe you are looking for, this is not for you. They did have cute jazz and Latin players on Saturday and Sunday night and a cacao class to celebrate Valentine's Day and it was so fun! For an all-inclusive, the drinks were still great and they used familiar brands such as Titos. Moreover, this is not a buffet style all inclusive. They have a Mayan style menu and it was all delicious and freshly made. Eventually, we wanted to expand our taste pallet a bit, since the menu can be small and ventured out on the island for lunch and dinner on some days and it was still delicious. Finally, the staff at Almare were absolutely incredible. Rafa, at Boga, was amazing and made the greatest Carrillo's at the resort with fresh (Nespresso) expresso vs. cold brew. Karen at the best was absolutely amazing and so helpful. Itzhack and Reyes made sure all the guest were entertained with different classes, events, and shows. This resort is new but we absolutely loved our stay and felt safe the entire time (on and off the resort). Make sure to venture off the resort and go to Punta Sur and Playa Norte. To rent a golf cart is is $180 for 4 hours vs. a taxi to most places is $10-$20, so we just rented a taxi for most of ventures into the island. Also, the crepes at the coffee shop in the resort makes for a great evening snack or dessert post dinner.

We recently stayed at Almare Luxury Collection Hotel in Isla Mujeres from January 31 to February 7, and it was truly a memorable experience. As Bonvoy Platinum members, we were upgraded from a garden view to an ocean view room, and it did not disappoint. You also get one hour of hydrotherapy at the spa. Ask the spa directly, the front desk was not aware of this.
Room (Unit 108)
Our ocean-view room was impeccable—spacious, well-designed, and featuring a super comfortable king bed. It was conveniently located near the gym and just two flights of stairs up, which we appreciated (though an elevator was also available). The breathtaking view from our room was a highlight, and we had no noise issues. Housekeeping came twice a day, ensuring a pristine space. The only minor downside was the limited closet space—while we traveled light with carry-on luggage, those with more belongings might find it a bit inconvenient. Otherwise, the room had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We had an issue with our toilet and it was addressed very quickly by staff.
Food & Drinks
The hotel offers local Mayan and Mexican cuisine, with two restaurants available for dinner. Our favorite was Seasalt, where the menu and service were excellent, and meals arrived faster than at the other option. Breakfast at Boga was served on a beautiful patio overlooking the water, and it was à la carte. A special shoutout to Andrea, who was always kind and genuinely happy to serve. Pro tip: Ask for bacon—it’s not on the menu, but they have it!
Lunch was served poolside or at your beach chair, and we recommend trying everything on the menu—it was all delicious! Karen stood out with her exceptional service. Drinks were fantastic, and we loved that top-shelf alcohol was included at no extra cost.
Pool & Beach
The pool was beautiful and conveniently close to the beach, but we felt it could be heated slightly more. Many guests agreed that this was one of the few downsides.
The beach itself was stunning, and the cabana was included, which made relaxing even better. However, the entrance to the water was rocky, and we noticed that not many people swam probably due to this. Since the beach isn’t the hotel’s strong point, we feel that heating the pool a bit more would improve the overall experience. That said, the views were incredible, and once again, Karen’s service was top-notch.
Overall Experience
This was one of our most beautiful vacations, and we travel 3-4 times a year. We would 100% recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing stay, very attentive service and amazing food. Nightlife is non-existent, and the hotel gets very quiet around 10 PM, so if you’re looking for a party scene, this may not be the best fit.
We recommend renting a golf cart to explore Punta Sur and Playa Norte. Also, if you’re into Pickleball, check out the Isla Pickleball Club on Facebook. We played six out of seven mornings and had a blast! The La Gloria courts, just a 5-minute walk from the hotel, were perfect for intermediate/advanced players, and the community was incredibly welcoming.
Shoutout to the amazing staff, including Joseph, Hemi, Amores, and the bar team at Seasalt. Your hospitality made our stay even more special. Thank you and we hope to come back for a visit in the future!

My husband and I travel often and rarely feel moved to write a review. In this case, I feel obligated to share our thoughts should it help anyone on the fence about booking, as we would certainly have passed on staying here had we known what to expect.
We don’t typically stay in all-inclusives but were swayed by The Luxury Collection brand. We have always had great experiences with these hotels and were optimistic this would be another amazing stay. Unfortunately, categorizing Almare as a Luxury Collection Hotel is grossly misleading. We agree with the previous reviewer who said it is a three-star at best. The photo renderings still advertised here and on the hotel website, several months after opening, could not be further from reality. (Several of the areas shown seemingly don’t even exist, or at least we somehow didn’t encounter them in five days staying there.)
In reality, the building is bleak — it looks like something from a Soviet Bloc ghost town. It is obvious Almare was converted from the previous hotel housed here, and it was clearly a slap-shod transformation. For example, no one bothered to remove the large visible pencil markings behind the finishes on the walls of the shower and toilet room.
Speaking of the room: As a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium member, my husband was offered a choice of upgrade between a junior suite facing the water park next door (which we had specifically asked *not* to face) or an ocean view room. We chose the ocean view. The view was about 5% ocean, 95% moldy rooftops and air conditioning units. After a long day of traveling, we didn’t have the will or energy to fight it.
As others have mentioned, the hotel is situated between a water park on one side and a busy dock on the other. When you’re at the beach, the sounds of kids splashing and booze cruise riffraff mingle with top 40 hits from 2008 bumping from the boats. It’s as luxurious and relaxing as you can imagine.
Beyond the lack of “luxury”, the food program was also abysmal. As others have mentioned, the offerings are extremely limited, and what’s offered on the menu often either isn’t actually available, or will come with about 40% of the advertised ingredients missing. For example, the eggs on the breakfast menu are listed as coming with beans, avocado and sauce. The first two days, there was no avocado on the plate (or sauce for that matter), so finally on day three we ordered avocado “on the side” — success! We did the same on day four and were told there was no avocado, but there was guacamole. (Where is the guacamole coming from, one wonders.) I understand ingredients may be limited on the island. However, the menu should just say “with seasonal sides” or something vague allowing for variation rather than advertising items they can’t provide.
Also worth noting on the food front: Steak tacos with “shishito peppers and onions” that actually come with a blob of guacamole and no peppers or onions; scallops served in tiny pieces with the texture of an eraser that I had to swallow whole like gum because the one bite I managed was unchewable; the last night when we just gave up and went back to our room to eat five-day-old airport snacks for dinner after being seated at the restaurant for 40 minutes without anyone taking our order despite twice asking the host to send over a server. Note I said “restaurant” — there’s only one option open for dinner each night, and they don’t seem equipped to even handle that.
I will say, the staff were lovely, eager to help, and did their best. Karen and Alejandro at the pool/beach were especially wonderful. The shortcomings of this hotel are not the fault of the staff. The issue is larger than that and I’m not sure what to even suggest could be done to make this property worth the price tag. Simply put, Marriott is misleading their customers and devaluing The Luxury Collection brand with this hotel, and I hope this review will be helpful in saving others from having an extremely disappointing vacation like we just did.

First off the issue with this hotel goes way deeper than the actual hotel and staff, this is a Marriot issue. They label this hotel as an adults only “Luxury Collection” but fail to mention the broken down water park filled with children a stones throw away. Then to the other side of the resort they fail to mention that there’s a dock that booze cruises coming from Cancun filled with loud obnoxious DJs and huge crowds that are being unloaded ALL day. As a loyal Marriot member who has stayed in many luxury collection hotels over the years, this is NOT one of them. Marriot is misleading customers by using obviously rendered photos of a luxury resort when in reality the setting shown in the photos doesn’t even exist. The resort is a dilapidated shell of an old resort just slapped with the luxury collection brand name. The staff although friendly, are not qualified to be running a resort. One example of many things that were deeply upsetting was after ordering two drinks, one vodka drink and one tequila drink, the bartender PUT HIS NOSE IN ONE OF THEM TO SMELL IT to ensure he was giving me the tequila instead of the vodka. I’m pretty sure I would have rather taken a sip of the wrong drink over watching my bartender shove his nose in them. Aside from that the restaurants were a complete disaster. The dishes were constantly missing key ingredients and the staff was visibly overwhelmed. Keep in mind the resort seemed like there were 15 total people there at the time. The food was horrific and the service was awful. My wife and I sat at a table for dinner for 30 minutes before anyone even came over to the table and then after finally taking our drink order, they brought the wrong drinks. You’re an all inclusive resort, food and drink is the main selling point for that kind of a resort and this was a complete disaster. This hotel should have been half the amount of points to stay here and should NOT be labeled as Luxury Collection. Swap the photos on the site with actual photos and remove that label so people know what they’re getting. Shame on Marriot for misleading loyal customers and taking close to 500,000 points for a five night stay here. You can get a 5 night stay at the Ritz Carlton in the Maldives for less points than this hotel. Lastly I called Marriott to explain the situation and their answer was “But you completed your stay” as if people are left with many options to find another hotel day of. Then said “You could have just left”. The fact that this was their response just goes to show how downhill Marriot has gone. They have devalued their point system and don’t value their customers.

This resort was lovely. It just opened in November 2024 so everything was brand new and the decor was fresh coastal chic. Rooms were spacious and our ocean view room had phenomenal sunset views. It’s a small resort so no long treks to the bar or beach or anywhere else which was nice.
The food was really good but the restaurant service was hit or miss, particularly at dinner time more misses. It seemed this was due to a few more inexperienced staff on that shift. There is a lot of variety on the breakfast and lunch menus. The dinner alternates between two restaurants - if you’re staying for a week it may get repetitive. Bar and cafe and front desk service were great. It is a quieter resort so no nightlife or shows if you’re hoping for that.
There are beach clubs on either side of the resort that can get a little noisy for a few hours some days. Beach was lovely and since the hotel wasn’t full there were lots of seating available so no hustle for loungers which was amazing.

Almare offers a tranquil getaway minutes from the crowds of Cancun, on the island of Isla Mujeres. The vibe is laid back and starts the moment you step on the private boat at the dock in Cancun. The boat ride is a special treat in itself. When we stepped on the dock at Almare, they were waiting with a cocktail for us to enjoy as we checked in.
Our suite was perfect with a large balcony overlooking the beach and providing a view of the spectacular sunsets.
The food was exceptional, but the staff was even better. The resort is small enough to provide top notch service and the staff understand how to provide that level of service, yet keep a very personal touch. Alejendro on the beach was outstanding. He never forgot our name or how we liked our drinks. Valeria would make sure we had a cold treat and serve it with a smile every afternoon, all while taking the time for a genuine conversation. She truly wanted feedback on what the resort could do different or better. All the staff seemed to understand the guest was important.
Carlos and Hector at the rooftop restaurant provided a special dinner for our last night. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a great night. I cannot say enough good about all the staff and their desire to provide us with a memorable stay.
The focus on preserving the essence of Isla Mujeres does not go unnoticed. We enjoyed the activities providing a true local flavor to the resort. Reyes was awesome. He took a small group of us on a walk to a nearby cemetery and church, explaining the local customs which was very interesting, making sure we were back in time for the Agave tasting which is not to be missed. The next morning, he took us on a run to see the Sunrise at Punta Sur.
Almare is not the traditional all-inclusive experience. It is a boutique resort that allows you to meet and interact with other guests and staff on a personal level. It offers a relaxed vibe from the moment you arrive to the time you leave.

Opening hotels get a bad wrap, but our 4 night stay here was one of the best in Cancun and we’ve stayed a lot of places. The tranquil vibe of this resort makes it a great place to relax. Yes, some of the kinks are still being ironed out as a new hotel, but the service here was above par.
Jason, David, Super Poncho at the bar made the trip entertaining and amazing. Never once did we want we want for anything. As a celiac, the gluten free knowledge and accommodating was above average. I would highly recommend and we will return!

A great experience with an elevated feel and vibe! My wife and I stayed for 6days for our honeymoon and the entire property was incredible. The design is fantastic! It’s only been open for a few months so not everything was open, but we still have a great time. The food is not simple, so if you want simple food, this is not the place for you. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and appreciated all the meals with all the elevated vibes they brought. Arriving by boat really set this property apart from other trips we have taken. The front staff was very helpful with any questions we had and made it easy for us to rent golf carts, etc… we rented a yacht through MM Royale one day and they picked us up at the hotel dock. Highly recommend them for a boat day and this hotel for accommodations on Isla Mujeres!

This is a brand new all-inclusive resort by Marriott. Great open air design. Every meal was carefully crafted and delicious. That said, the service was the best part of this resort. Erick and Alan were truly amazing. I totally recommend this resort for a great couples getaway.

My wife and I just returned from a 4 night stay at Almare and were very disappointed. We are very seasoned travelers and appreciate 5 star resorts (Four seasons/Ritz Carlton levels), however this new hotel does not even hold a candle to that standard. It is 3 star at best.
As Bonvoy members, we were looking forward to trying this new adults only resort from the Luxury Collection. I had some reservations at first since it’s brand new and contacted the hotel a couple of times to address my concerns. The person I spoke to assured me that this will be a top 5 star experience. I had looked at the hotel’s dining menus a couple weeks before arriving. The options were very limited and the choices seemed a bit odd. Being that my wife is a picky eater, I spoke to my contact at the hotel who assured me that we had nothing to worry about, as that the restaurants would be happy to make anything for her that was not on the menu. Unfortunately this was not the case for the first couple of days. The wait staff said that there was no deviating off the menus so we were stuck. After complaining on our third day to the F&B manager, they agreed to accommodate a little bit- but the food still wasn’t good. It was often cold and our orders got messed up a lot. The breakfast buffet was the same everyday and low quality. By the third day we were tired of it and just ordered in room service for the remainder of our mornings. The room service was a comedy of errors (no utensils, pancakes without syrup, one coffee cup for 2 people etc). It became a joke after awhile. The lunch menu was very limited as well and got redundant after a day. Dinners were flat out lousy with small portions of poor quality food. My wife and I agreed that if we had anymore nights- we would have just forfeited the dinners and gone out to a local restaurant, as there were quite a few on the island. The resort needs to work on their menus asap.
We were promised a room with a nice view. Upon checkin, we were told we had a nice pool view with a partial ocean view. However we were taken to a room that was dark and facing the water park. We immediately rejected it and were then showed another room with a pool view but it was obstructed by a palapa. We would’ve just taken it but the bathroom was tiny compared to the first room. We were starting to get frustrated, but finally were shown a room that faced the water, which we accepted. It was not a good first impression at all.
While the hotel is new, the building is not. It used to be another hotel and was taken over by Almare. The rooms are tired and dated. The furniture is old, and falling apart with no character at all. The building is tired looking and in need of a major renovation with one old elevator in the front as well as one in the back. It also didn’t have a clean feel to it. There is nothing inviting about the decor of the hotel at all. We never even went in the pool as it’s tucked to the side and depressing looking. I stepped my foot inside one day and noticed that it wasn’t heated so we just opted to stay at the beach. I will say that the beach setting as well as the lounges were very nice and probably the best part of the hotel.
The service for the most part was very poor as well. The front desk staff lacked any knowledge about the rooms, dining specifics or pretty much anything. Each person you ask a question to has a different response than the next one. They need better training.
They also barely acknowledge guests when they see them. Most high end hotels in Mexico have incredible service with the friendliest staff. One night we asked the lobby bartender to fill our wine glasses extra so we could take them to our room. He refused and told us if we wanted more wine to call room service. They are not service oriented at all.
When we called to request items in our room sometimes they didn’t come at all.
There are no in room welcome amenities or daily treats distributed by the pool or beach.
There were a few exceptions though. Alejandro at the beach was terrific. Andrea at breakfast was as nice as can be. Dimitri by the beach was very nice too. Sheranye also did her best to accommodate. Eddy and Manuel too were friendly.
The hotel mobile app also was useless and had limited functionality. Yet the staff constantly tell you to check the app when you ask any questions.
During our stay, I had emailed my contact that I had been corresponding with prior to arriving twice to express our dismay, but have yet to get a reply- shocking.
In order for this hotel to be at the level they are reaching for, they will need to train the staff better, improve the food significantly, and renovate the entire property. The room sizes are nice but as mentioned earlier have a stale vibe with no energy.
We regret choosing this hotel for our Xmas vacation and felt very misled. With plenty of luxury hotels in the Cancun area, we don’t feel the need to return.

I don’t leave reviews very often but felt compelled to in this case. For context, the wife and I ( mid 40s, no kids ) spend most of our leisure time travelling for Michelin stars, great wine and kid-free relaxation and fancy ourselves quite experienced on this front We come to Cancun at least once a year, mostly twice but have found that most places are hit or miss so we’ve typically elected to stay at the Excellence brand rather than risk a bad experience. This year we were joined for this Christmas tip by some family who wouldn’t be able to afford the Excellence so I looked at some Marriott brands for a week so we could find similar luxury but could use some points and my lifetime status and ensure some predictability and we found the Almare. After a few reviews talking about their “opening challenges” I was nervous but this property did not disappoint. The property feels new despite being a refurbishment, the food was great ( a la carte was actually quite nice ), the drinks were fun and elevated and the service was awesome. They are still going through some launch pains, figuring out mismatched staffing numbers, sparse evening entertainment, balancing food selection/choices and quality etc and we noticed some people had less tolerance/patience during our stay ( but if you are like us you know the type I’m referring too, don’t really inhabit the world they expect to be provided for them but will act like it ) we but if you are like us, and value the quality of the effort, the attention to the details and when something isn’t right the genuine response to make it better, then you’ll love this place. We are off to the Excellence now but if we had another week here I would not mind at all, I might actually have even preferred it!

The staff were incredibly friendly and kind, which we truly appreciated. Thanks to Reyes & Valeria for making the daily activities more special and fun. We really enjoyed the Alebrije workshop, coffee experience & Tikinxic fish cooking class. Also, I loved snorkeling & paddle boarding…you can borrow the mask/board whenever you want!
The food and drinks were excellent! While the food options were a bit limited, the quality and presentation were outstanding. The service was great overall, though a few times it was a bit slow to receive our food, or an item was missed. However, we didn’t mind too much since it was a laid-back vacation. :)
The café served the best coffee, and their pastries and desserts were delicious.
Thanks to Alan for introducing the golden milk to us. It was so good.
The lobby bar was the perfect spot for beautifully crafted cocktails. We really enjoyed spending time there after dinner.
Shout out to Eli, he is the best mixologist. We already miss his cocktails…
We did Agave journey activity with him, and could taste the best mezcal + few surprise liquors :)
The room was clean, and the check-in and check-out process were smooth and efficient. The welcome drink is special here, it’s called as Almare drink which was different from welcome sparkling wine from other AI resorts.
We did Unique Restore 90mins massage and it was literally the best massage I’ve ever had. Diana & Sonia were our masseuses and they were amazing. Also we loved the cocoon bed at the spa. It was warm and so nice.
For a few improvements, it would be nice to have more diffuser scents in the lobby bathrooms. The elevator interior could use a bit of a design upgrade—perhaps adding mirrors or a screen showing daily activities with music. Lastly, like other all-inclusive resorts, it would have been a nice touch if an Almare beach bag was provided during the stay!
Sorry if I had missed few other friendly staffs’ names but everyone was all so kind & attentive to provide the best service. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this resort.

The absolute best experience
My husband and I came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had the best experience. The hotel staff is beyond amazing. Everybody was so attentive and had the goal of making your stay perfection- Alejandro went above and beyond for us.
