Debbi Kickham
Senior Editor
Debbi Karpowicz Kickham is a former Editor of Robb Report Magazine (“The Millionaire’s Magazine”) and a current and veteran member of the Society of American Travel Writers. Debbi has never visited a honeymoon destination or a romantic resort she didn’t like. She is intimately familiar with the world’s best resorts focused on amour– especially luxury, all-inclusive resorts such as Sandals, and is happiest when her toes are in the sand. She has even blissed out in a wealth of over-the-water bungalows – one of her favorite romantic venues – and she is a walking encyclopedia of sun-splashed, glamorous, glitzy places to honeymoon.
A professional travel journalist for more than 25 years, Debbi has criss-crossed the globe, going everywhere from Boston to Bora Bora, writing luxury travel, honeymoon, hotel, spa, cruise, style, shopping and beauty articles for a wealth of magazines, websites, and newspapers that are too numerous to mention. Currently, aside from being named Senior Editor at Honeymoons.com, Debbi is a Luxury Travel Contributing Writer to Forbes.com, and also a Luxury Travel Editor at Westfair, an upscale online magazine geared to the super rich and a Luxury Writer for the new Travel Curator online magazine.
Debbi and her husband Bill – frequently her co-writer – have spent the last 28 years visiting and writing about romantic destinations and beach resorts, and have experienced the best of the best. They married in 2000 at The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, spent a month in Hawaii on their honeymoon, wrote feature travel articles all about their firsthand experiences, and never looked back. The two have also had the unbridled joy of numerous marriage vow-renewal ceremonies at luxury beach resorts and on cruise ships worldwide. If you were to ask Debbi why, she would tell you this: “Remarrying your loved one and having a vow renewal underscores why you married your spouse in the first place. It can rekindle all kinds of sparks, especially those that you enjoyed on your first honeymoon together.” Debbi feels that every trip she takes with her husband is an opportunity for a second honeymoon.
Debbi is the author of several books, including The Globetrotter’s Get-Gorgeous Guide, the world’s first beauty book for traveling women, and a bestseller. It achieved Number One in sales on Amazon.com in the “Honeymoon Travel Guide” category and has been featured in a wealth of prestigious media. It is the ultimate “Tour of Beauty” and a goldmine of get-gorgeous information.
Debbi wrote her book to show other women how to look good and feel good while traveling – which is frequently so hard to do. She herself works out one hour every day, no matter where she is in the world, and at her current age of 68 years old, and a size four, she is again, for the third time, a contestant in the Sports Illustrated Swimwear Competition. Her travel secret? “Even if you can’t get to the hotel gym, even on your honeymoon, try to do at least 15 minutes of exercise in your hotel room. I myself have been doing a Jane Fonda routine on the floor, every day, for the past 40 years, and in countless hotel rooms.”
What are Debbi’s must-haves when traveling? A silk pillowcase and eye mask; Oscillococcinum, which is a homeopathic remedy for flu symptoms; Sunsweet 20-calorie dried plums, dried dates, and fresh fruit for smart snacking; a travel roll of duct tape; TreCeuticals sunscreen; Laneige lip sleeping mask; and Retin-A, along with a wealth of luxury moisturizers. She is also obsessed, in her travels, with discovering locally-made beauty products and dream creams from countries around the world.
Where is her next second honeymoon trip? Undoubtedly, it is a sexy spot featuring high-thread-count sheets, rose petals in the bathtub, powdery pink sand, and super sunsets that create a dreamy destination.
