Paradise on the Reef with Great food and service
We flew into the island on a charter plane from HInterland and were immediately met with cold facecloths and a warm welcome. The entire restaurant, lounge and reception is open air, which gives it a very natural feel but with the numerous ceiling fans at work the temperature was ok....

We ate there for breakfast, lunch and dinner and were thorougly impressed with the variety , quality and taste of the food. The selection of wines included in the package was very good and as a result we got to try some that we would otherwise never have chosen. The staff are tremendous throughout the resort. The rooms, ours was overlooking Sunset Beach, were spacious and modern with good Air conditioning and generously sized bathrooms. We like having the double sink but my wife missed having a bath. Having said that, the snorkeling in crystal clear warm reef water more than made up for it. One of those experiences that will be difficult to better.

This is our second visit 5 years apart. Now Relaix and Chateau I can say the resort gets better each visit.
We stayed in the same villa that had been updated and the end result was elegant beach with all that you need in a villa at hand.
Twenty metres to the beautiful waters of the Barrier Reef and snorkeling only a 100 metre walk along the beach from our villa.
The staff, mainly backpackers are excellent. Delaware North the owners should be proud of the training given.
Full board and drinks make for that extra luxury feel and both were high quality and plentiful.
The food is high standard and tasty. I would say a little more salad choice as standard would be great to lighten up the food, especially at lunch. That said if you wanted something different the staff went out of their way to accommodate. I even asked for a sandwich and an Aussie hamburger.
Activities are professionally run and all equipment top quality.
All this is not cheap and we stayed 8 nights where most stay 3 or 4.
Try the short trip first as the flight to and from Cairns is extra and I’m sure you will be wanting to return or stay longer.

An amazing getaway on the Great Barrier Reef
A great place for a short visit (4 nights). Easily accessible yet absolutely isolated. We keep coming back (our 12th visit I think). We love the ambience, the food and the access to the Barrier Reef. A truly wonderful experience. We intend to go back again.

Lizard Island is a slice of paradise. It is an island in the Great Barrier Reef reached by plane from Cairns. The main resort is on Anchor Bay with a lovely beach to enjoy. But there are many other beaches on the island reachable by dinghy or staff drop-off (which we preferred). The snorkeling is fantastic. We especially liked the Clam Garden in Watson’s Bay (next to Anchor Bay). These clams are 4 feet across which was just mind blowing. The sunsets are spectacular, especially from your own private pool in the Sunset Beach villas.
The food is really good as well. The menu changed every day for lunch and dinner with entrees and mains to choose from, with both fish and non-fish choices.
The staff is young, energetic, and very friendly. They are from all ove the world and always willing to share something about their home which made the visit that much more special.
I highly recommend visiting Lizard Island Resort. You won’t regret it.

Outstanding experience at a beautiful resort
Outstanding experience at a beautiful resort. First class all around. The food was great, the dive masters were very experienced, and the island is beautiful. Pricey, but worth it. We dove with Hanna and Max ... they were both excellent. Hanna, in particular, is one of the best divemasters we've...

Words cannot describe the experience we lived here. We started to say wow before arriving and never stopped.
We were pretty lucky, as hotel was at less than 50% capacity with probably 20 people on the entire island. Result: we had amazing beaches only for us. Landscape is wonderful and marine life unbelievable, both on earth and on the sea.
Room was spacious and super comfortable, with daily refill of snacks, soft drinks and wine. Only minor flags on the restaurant, as service was good but too slow (we spent more than 1.5h for every meal!) and food quality not always as expected

We booked 3 nights here as a treat during our travels in Aus. It’s a great place to stay and chill out. The food was excellent and the staff were incredibly helpful, with a special thanks to Brennan who helped sort out getting our vids from the GoPro (we saw turtles, stingrays, clams and too many types of fish to count) and Aveline who took photos of us even when she was off duty! We went on the sunset cruise which was excellent. We also went on a walk round the mangroves at sunset, but didn’t see any bats that night. The flight there from Hinterland was an experience as well, seeing the reef from above was an experience we’ll never forget

From the moment we were met at Cairns airport to the time we were dropped back was magical. Our charter flight over the Great Barrier Reef was so beautiful as was our first glimpse of Lizard Island. The resort, our room, the staff and food were just perfect. The island really is paradise, we didn’t want to leave. The snorkel turtle tour was amazing and not to be missed. We loved exploring the island with its stunning white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. This place deserves more than a 5 star rating and should be on everyone’s bucket list. Thank you so much to all the staff for giving us a memorable experience we will never forget.

Once you arrive at Lizard you will be greeted by the staff with towels and be taken to the reception/restaurant in golf buggies. The service level is truly world class and the resort looks amazing. There are lots of activities to do, so you never get bored and the food and drinks are great!
I proposed to my girlfriend on the Island and the staff helped me set everything up. A special thanks to Sophia Gibson :)
Only downside is that I didn’t stay longer. Will definitely go back some time.

This was our fifth visit. Never disappointed! Even in marginal weather, it shone! We’ll be back
The food was varied, fresh and excellent in every way. Service was very special and the staff are all to be commended on making us feel welcome. In spite of bad weather, we still had a great time, thanks to their professionalism. The great island location really separates it.
Great location and excellent resort.
