I wanted a 5 star amazing resort in the wine country. There were a couple to choose from but Meadowood was rated 5 star by Forbes for the resort and the spa. We stayed in the Cottage accommodation. We loved it. It was quiet, we had our own covered terrace/balcony. Room was clean and large. The food was fabulous. We actually had room service every day for breakfast and dinner. It was that good! Staff was amazing, helpful, and always available. I would 100% stay here again. The spa was wonderful. I had the 75 min Hot stone massage. Their facility at the spa is spectacular and honestly with the amenities i would say plan to spend a half a day taking advantage of the spa amenities. We had the $750 credit offer which covered my spa treatment and all our in room dining for the 3 days we were there. It actually turned our stay into an "all-inclusive!"

We spent Christmas at Meadowood and had a wonderful experience. The staff truly made us feel welcome - and I mean, really welcome - at reception, in the restaurant, on the premises, and the resort is beautiful. We learned about the fire that happened and how the hotel lost many rooms and their Michelin Star hotel. They set up a temporary new restaurant which was AMAZING. We ate at many restaurants in St. Helena, including Charlie's and Charter Oak, and the hotel restaurant offered the best food and atmosphere; a gourmet experience. We went on a hike around the beautiful property and there are shelves with (aluminium) water bottles along the hiking path. There are 3 swimming pools and 2 amazing hot tubs. Our room was lovely and we appreciated the little goodies we received nightly as everything they produce is delicious; special thanks for the cookies at the gate when we left (ginger molasses). We only hope we can afford to be back once the restaurant and other parts of the resort have been rebuilt. An experience we won't forget.

Thank you for reaching out. I truly appreciate the clear focus and professionalism in your approach to service. The staff is wonderful, and I always measure a hotel by the first point of contact on the property—the bellmen/security staff. At Meadowood, they were all very professional and made us feel welcome from the moment we pulled up to the gate.
We chose Meadowood because of the expansive grounds and its more established history. We wanted a place where we could stay on property to hike, have dinner, and experience a sense of space. I had visited Meadowood several times in the early 2000s, and I remember it having a style similar to some properties in the Northeast—gracious, with understated elegance.
The rooms were warm, comfortable, spotless, and well-appointed. Our room, number 12, wasn’t ideally located, being close to the pool, so we could hear people enjoying the hot tub. However, this wasn't a deal-breaker.
The property falls short in the communal areas. Despite having 250 acres, the reception, tennis courts, pools, spa, and restaurant are all clustered in a small area, which felt cramped and temporary. In particular, the Forum at night was a disappointment. While the food was good and the service was excellent (Chris at the bar is outstanding and a true professional), there was no atmosphere. As a result, the place was nearly empty when we arrived. We chose to sit at the bar, as I couldn’t imagine sitting at a table in an environment that felt more like an airport hotel restaurant. I'm sure it’s livelier in warmer weather, with the outdoor seating and views of the tennis courts, but on a cold January evening, it felt rather soulless.
In hindsight, I’m surprised (and a bit frustrated) that the winter room rates remain as high as those at other luxury properties, given these compromises. If you go, plan on leaving property for dinner.
