We decided to take a January mid-week babymoon trip to the Woodstock Inn and had a lovely time. The hotel is beautiful and the fireplace in the lobby was so cozy where many people gathered to read. We stayed in a Tavern King with fireplace, which was spacious, updated, and cozy. The bed was so comfortable and the room was nice and quiet. We were also so delighted to receive a baby onesie and bib as they knew that we were celebrating our babymoon- what a thoughtful touch! During our stay we walked around the downtown area, went to Simon Pierce, Sugarbush Farms, and King Arthur Baking. Overall, a lovely trip and hoping to return to the Woodstock Inn again soon!

This is a cozy winter getaway with the choice to relax, get out, or do a mix of both. Located in the heart of Woodstock, many of the town’s restaurants and shops are walkable, and local attractions are a short drive away. The Inn also provides a shuttle if needed....

This is a cozy winter getaway with the choice to relax, get out, or do a mix of both. Located in the heart of Woodstock, many of the town’s restaurants and shops are walkable, and local attractions are a short drive away. The Inn also provides a shuttle if needed. There are many cozy rooms to settle and relax in with a huge fireplace in the lobby. The spa is fabulous and winter sports are available close by. There is a national park with great hiking about half a mile away, and there is access to an athletic club if you need to work out, swim, or take classes.

The staff are exceptional. We even asked someone about the little mushroom garlands and why we continue to see them everywhere around town... he brought back a printed page because he had someone look up the information for a local artist who makes them. I had a spa day and it was one of my best spa experiences. Beyond just the actual facilities and staff, this hotel is small and is designed for those staying there to congregate in certain areas. With that we got to know several of the other hotel guests. Truly, this was such a special stay and we were sad to go home. I cannot recommend enough.

Unfortunately, our first experience with the Woodstock Inn has made us feel unlikely to return. The first misstep was when housekeeping neglected to clean our room and make the beds our first morning there. When I told the woman seated at the front desk that our room was overlooked by housekeeping, she smiled and said"OK." I requested that housekeeping go in early to do the room (which was done), but the least she could have done was apologize for the error. She definitely needs some customer service training. It is very off putting when you are looking at the Room Service menu and see that you are to be penalized for ordering Room Service with a $5 delivery fee and a 22% gratuity automatically added to the bill when the restaurants did not charge automatic gratuities when dining in house. And the choices for Room Service are a small fraction of the actual restaurant menus. It's as if Woodstock Inn offers Room Service but is telling you they would rather not. And speaking of dining, the menu selections at both Red Rooster and Richardson's Tavern are extremely limited. The food is OK, but not what I would expect for an establishment charging over $600 per night. The breakfast buffet at Red Rooster left a lot to be desired for $30 or $22 a pop. This morning, when checking out early, we went to the front desk but no one was there. There was a lady seated around the corner at the Concierge desk who noticed us, but she never looked up to ask if we needed assistance. I had to walk back from the front desk to the Concierge desk and ask if this is where we should check out, when she finally looked up and said, "Yes." She did not attempt to move to the front desk to speak to us nor did she invite us over to where she was. We were basically just ignored until I spoke up. Our conclusion is that although there are many who clearly have wonderful experiences at the Woodstock Inn, we feel that it is just not worth the rates charged. We have been to much better places for a lot less money!

The Inn is a 4.5 the staff a 3.5. They are not problem solvers, nor are they apologetic should there be a misstep on the part of the hotel. I had a 5:45pm massage at the spa and 3 different staffers told me multiple times that they closed at 7pm....

I had a 5:45pm massage at the spa and 3 different staffers told me multiple times that they closed at 7pm. They really closed at 6:45. The cover was on the hot tub at 6:45pm, the steam was turned off and the doors were locked. At 6:55pm When I asked the staffer in the spa if the front desk had dropped off my room key (they told me they would do that during my massage) she said she didn’t have anything and the doors were locked so they couldn’t get in. Not helpful. She COULD have said “I don’t see anything let me call the front desk and find out for you.” In the middle of the night the people next to us decided to sleep train their kid and for over an hour he was screaming. In the morning, the front desk made no apologies or offer to move us, instead I had to ask if they were leaving or if they could move us. Not helpful. When I asked if the pillows were feather, the woman said “I don’t know.” She could have said, “let me find out” or “let me have housekeeping bring you hypoallergenic pillows just in case.” Not helpful. My point is the staff had multiple opportunities during my stay to problem solve and each time they just didn’t do anything to help the guest. The Inn is cute. There is no fitness room or pool on site. They do have a facility 1.5 miles away.

We had a wonderful stay at Woodstock Inn... and we would highly recommend it for anyone looking for comfort with a touch of luxury. Room: Our room was very nice, decorated, and very comfortable. We loved nespresso machine that allowed us to have a cup of good coffee on bed before going downstairs to enjoy a freat breakfast buffet. The room was also very clean and refreshed daily. Event though, for the amount of the room we friendly suggest a little bit more attention to the vent ceiling on the bathroom was completely cover by dust and the seal of the shower door was all rusted. Service: The staff was great. They were always available and willing to help with any questions we had, from directions around the city to recommendations for local dining. Dining: we only enjoyed the brekfast buffet on site, which has many delicious options and freshly prepared items. Amenities: The hotel offers great facilities, including a pool, spa, and gym. We used the pool and was great. Also, they have a game room on the main floor with chess, cards, and a lot of table games. Also downstairs, you have air hockey, Shuffleboard Pucks , foosball table and more.

Hubby and I stayed three nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our room was lovely and the grounds and common areas are beautiful. The hotel had a gift and a card for us, a very nice touch. We loved the bar at the Red Rooster and also managed to get in one night for a good dinner at the Tavern which was always packed. Service was nice. You can’t beat the location. I loved the early morning coffee offered at Red Rooster. The only real complaint is the bathroom toilet seat was plastic and for these prices the hotel should provide a real toilet seat.

We liked the place and how it felt. We had a nice room and got to play Keegan Bradley's home course as a kid. They could not have been any friendlier at the golf course. And they could not have been any friendlier at the hotel. You are a bit captive for evening food when we went. They roll up the sidewalks off-season at about 5ish so you have to go get your extra's early. However, the food at the Inn was really well done. We have been all over the place in New England and this (BTW, blew away the food at the Chatham Bars i.e. best in the USA? Really?) was very good dinner and breakfast. We liked it a lot. (I am picky, very picky) Of all the places we have been to in NE, we put this at the top tier. I am a person who once had 60 rooms at the Mt Washington and 50 rooms at the Samoset and the Sagamore so we have been around.

We returned to the inn after a six year hiatus and our experience was just fantastic. We stayed in the Mary Rockefeller suite on the third floor and it was gorgeous. We were greeted with “Happy 42nd anniversary” upon check in and were able to access our room early which was a nice surprise! While at the inn, we ate at Richardson’s Tavern, the Red Rooster and the Fairway Grille and every meal (lunch, dinner, breakfast) was excellent. All of our interactions with the staff were exceptional and we look forward to our return.

A Nightmare Anniversary Trip – Misleading, Overpriced, Unresponsive, and Completely Disappointing We booked the Woodstock Inn to celebrate our five-year anniversary and Valentine’s Day— a trip we were incredibly excited about and drove over seven hours to enjoy. We had been considering the Mayflower Inn (which we love and frequent), but after seeing photos of the spa and reading glowing reviews, we decided to try something new. We deeply regret that decision. This was one of the MOST disappointing hotel stays we’ve ever had — not just because of the experience itself, but because of the appalling lack of response from management afterward. I’ve now sent ten emails over the past month and a half to multiple members of staff, including Melissa Sheffer and Bruce Grosbety, and not a single person has responded. I also called the hotel, asked to speak with a manager, and was told someone would call or email me back “right away.” No one ever did. The complete lack of accountability is shocking for a property that presents itself as a luxury destination. I am not one to write negative reviews but I feel as though I have given the employees and property plenty of opportunities to reach out and simply apologize for our negative experience. Let me walk you through just a few of the major issues we faced: 1. The Spa — Misleading, Unavailable, and Staff with Attitude We booked this hotel specifically for the spa. On the phone, while making the reservation, I clearly stated that we were coming for our anniversary and planned to use the spa while we waited for our room. The reservation agent said that sounded like a great way to enjoy the property before check-in. We also mentioned this to the front desk agent when we checked in and to the concierge. At no point was it mentioned that: • The spa is not included for hotel guests. • You must pay extra for a day pass. • You must book this paid access in advance. None of this is clearly stated on the website either — in fact, the way the spa is described makes it seem like it is included. The copy reads like a promotional brochure for hotel guests: “Unwind in the Great Room… breathe in the Scandinavian cedar sauna… dip into the restorative whirlpool waters.” So you can imagine our shock when we went to the spa — excited for a relaxing start to our anniversary — and were immediately greeted with rudeness and dismissal. The woman at the spa front desk snapped at us that spa access was only available to those with reservations (again, this was never mentioned by any of your team). I explained that I had spoken to multiple staff members who told me we could use the spa when we arrived, and she just shrugged and said they were wrong and we could use the fitness center pool instead. 2. Incompetent Front Desk and Misleading Availability Before arrival, I emailed through the concierge messaging center (linked in your “Things to Do” confirmation email) asking for dinner recommendations, special anniversary touches, and the possibility of an upgrade. No one ever responded. When we arrived, I asked the front desk in person if there were any upgrades available — they checked and said the hotel was fully booked and there was absolutely nothing. When we got to our room I called downstairs to check again and was told there was nothing available. But that didn’t sit right with me. I checked your own website and saw multiple suites available. When I called the front desk back and asked to speak with a manager someone else finally admitted that yes, we could pay to upgrade. We were happy to pay — so why it took me speaking to three different people, being flat-out denied twice, and basically being brushed off at check-in is beyond me. That’s not luxury service. That’s not even basic competency. 3. Maintenance Issues in Our “Spa Suite” Once we upgraded (at our own cost), we were given the Spa Suite — which is aesthetically beautiful, but clearly not maintained. The bathroom light was broken and flickered uncontrollably, turning on and off without warning (video attached in our email — that no one responded to). The bathtub drain was broken and wouldn’t stay open so you had to manually hold it open and wait for the massive tub to drain. When you’re paying over $600 a night, these are basic things that should be in perfect working order. 4. Unbearable Noise — Zero Sleep As if everything else wasn’t enough, we were woken up early the next morning by a deafening rumbling noise directly above our room. It sounded like a broken industrial washing machine, or someone drilling or moving furniture repeatedly across the floor. It went on for hours. We had no chance of sleeping in or relaxing — the noise made the room unlivable. I took a video of this too. It was truly unacceptable. 5. Flooded Bathrooms and Chaotic Fitness Center When we tried to use the bathrooms near the lobby, they were flooded. No signage, no staff managing it — just water everywhere. Later, when we decided to check out the fitness center (since the spa was off-limits), there was drilling going on in the mens locker room, it was dirty and it was completely overrun by screaming, unsupervised children. I understand families travel — but there was no enforcement of any kind of wellness atmosphere. It felt more like a community rec center than a “peaceful Vermont sanctuary.” 6. Zero Service After Hours At 7:30 PM I called to speak with the concierge about skiing options and was told he had “gone home for the night.” When I asked the front desk a simple question about local ski info, I was told, “I don’t know. Look online.” Seriously? At a ski hotel that markets itself as “luxury”? ⸻ Conclusion: Never Again This stay was supposed to be a special anniversary getaway. We drove seven hours, excited to try a new property that promised luxury, relaxation, and spa serenity. Instead, we were met with rude staff, broken amenities, deafening noise, flooded bathrooms, and zero accountability. And worst of all? No one has responded to me. Not once. Not after ten emails. Not after a phone call. Not after I sent video evidence and calmly laid out my issues. This is not just about one bad stay — it’s about a complete lack of professionalism, responsibility, and care for your guests. For the same price, we could have stayed at the Mayflower Inn, where everything is five-star, the spa is included, and the team actually treats you like a guest. We will never return to the Woodstock Inn, and I would caution anyone considering it — especially if you are coming for the spa or expecting luxury service. It’s all surface-level charm, with none of the substance and should not be marketed as a luxury property.

When she spoke with the Inn customer service department she noted in passing why we were coming over, never thought anything about the conversion. When we arrived, we both more than surprised by a Hand Written card and birthday gift from from the staff in our room .Every customer service person we meet was more than just pleasant, they seemed to really care about making our visit the best possible. The food and adult beverages are all over the top. Once again, when we ordered a small dessert after our dinner at the Red Rooster, staff bought it out with a birthday candle attached even we never mentioned why we there to the wait staff. I think that anyone who visits her will be more than happy that stayed and enjoyed their time here.

Was looking forward to a getaway belated gift for my wife and unfortunately needed to change the date of my trip due to unforeseen circumstances. They refused unfortunately to help at all so I am out the $300+ . In these times especially. Guess customer service is the way of the Dino.

My husband and I first visited Woodstock 6 years ago, we walked past the inn and were amazed, it looked so beautiful and elegant. 18 months ago we were lucky enough to have dinner in Richardsons Tavern, so when this visit we were actually going to stay in the hotel, it was a dream come true! It really is a beautiful building in a beautiful location, we were also lucky enough to have snow so that just topped everything. The room was downstairs at garden level and we enjoyed breakfast in The Red Rooster which has huge servings. We also ate in Richardsons Tavern once again. It’s pricey, I’m not going to gloss over that so a one off experience, but it was totally worth it.
