We had a phenomenal wedding experience with Hotel El Convento! From the first meeting with Nelia, the tasting, and our wedding stay and experience. The team is one of the most professional and expert wedding teams I have seen. Even our guests thought this was the best wedding they have ever attended. We are so grateful and will remember this for the rest of our lives.

Wonderful meal at El Convento! Go see Riccardo for extraordinary cocktails! Fabulous breeze, food was amazing! We had the salmon and the Pesto pasta. The pasta was so different and very delicious! We recommend the dining and hope to return to book the hotel!

My husband and I had the great fortune to stay at El Convento, in the historic old town in San Juan. We were drawn to this historic building and its’s position in old town. A perfect location to walk to forts, art galleries, restaurants, shops and our favourite Anita’s ice cream and sorbeto shoppe. All staff were friendly, helpful from check in to check out. We had the opportunity to have a number of meals in the restaurant which is a lovely oasis. I have allergies and they were most accommodating. I would like to give a special thanks to Andrea, Indira, Stephanie and Jesus as they are not only great representatives for El Convento but really took care of all guests and especially helped me feel safe with regards to my food allergies. After all that Puerto Rico has had to do after the massive hurricane seven years ago, I am amazed by the people and their strength to move forward. We will treasure the memories. Gracias.

Review of Hotel El Convento, Old San Juan, Puerto Rico Hotel El Convento has a reputation for luxury, but my recent stay left much to be desired. For the price, I expected well-maintained systems and a comfortable experience—neither of which was delivered. Cons: • Unreliable Wi-Fi: The Wi-Fi was painfully slow and dropped connection frequently. Additionally, the network was unsecured. • Tiny Bathroom: The bathroom was cramped and not what I’d expect in a "luxury" room. • Empty Amenities: The body wash and shampoo dispensers were empty upon arrival, • HVAC Issues: The climate control in the room was abysmal. Upon arrival, the room was an icy 65 degrees. Opening windows and the door to warm it up led to walls and floors drenched in condensation due to the humidity. Attempting to turn on the heat made the air conditioning run instead. Ultimately, we had to turn the system off entirely and manually toggle between warm-up periods with no system and short bursts of AC to cool down when it got too warm. Pros: • Prime Location: The hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of Old San Juan, making it easy to explore the area. • Friendly Staff: The staff was courteous and welcoming. • Free Bottled Water: A nice touch, though not enough to outweigh the negatives. Verdict: While the location and friendly service are positives, the lack of functional systems, empty amenities, and significant HVAC issues make it hard to recommend Hotel El Convento. At these prices, the experience should be seamless, and it simply wasn’t. I would not stay here again unless significant improvements are made.

Nice hotel in need of some updating and more staff. The check in was nice as we had Alisha welcoming us with water and tips to enjoy the city. The restaurant service was slow but the current staff are very nice and work extra hard. The quality of the food was good. The rooms are comfortable and clean but a bit simple for the price. The sister hotel looks in better shape, Palacio Provincial and if we ever come again to San Juan old city that is where I would stay.

Excellent hotel, perfect location, personnel very attentive and courteous, room clean, with awesome view to the bay, the restaurant with good food, the pool with perfect view to the old city, walking distance to El Morro, Ballaja, restaurants, stores

Our stay at El Convento was absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant on property, the rooftop is a dream, and the location is centrally located to all the hot spots in Old San Juan making it a perfect and easy walk to everything. Everyone was warm and friendly...

Our stay at El Convento was absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant on property, the rooftop is a dream, and the location is centrally located to all the hot spots in Old San Juan making it a perfect and easy walk to everything. Everyone was warm and friendly making it feel effortless and welcoming. Adisha and George at the front were the best!! So helpful and made our stay lovely. And, Eric at the restaurant provided a great dining experience and shared information and history about beautiful PR. I highly recommend this hotel, and cannot wait to return.

Hotel El Convento is very well situated close to shops, restaurants and turistic sites of Viejo San Juan. It has a unique Colonial charm and the rooms have been renovated with all the main amenities. The staff is very knowledgeable and kind. Indira at the restaurant was a wonderful waitress and the food was great. The only downside was the faulty elevator but it was repaired before we left. My husband and I loved our stay there

Abi gave us a tour of the hotel. Very interesting history. The staff is all very attentive and very professional. We came here to enjoy a few days away and do not regret our choice. Would come to El Convento again. Great central location as well.

The guest experience was amazing! Josantonio took us through the facilities to make sure we enjoy the visit. He recommended a lot of great restaurants nearby. We also visited their restaurant Patio del Nispero in the hotel. Carla took care of our room and made sure that everything was clean...

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay in San Juan, prior to our cruise departure. Largely because we booked a charming old world hotel called El Convento. The rooms were elegant and soundproofed and air conditioned. The center courtyard was large and comfy and had lots of umbrellas for rain...

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay in San Juan, prior to our cruise departure. Largely because we booked a charming old world hotel called El Convento. The rooms were elegant and soundproofed and air conditioned. The center courtyard was large and comfy and had lots of umbrellas for rain and sun protection, plus a lovely resident cat! We had several meals there and were impressed with the quality and service. The hotel offers a nightly wine and cheese hour at their sister hotel, which was a short walk away. It was lovely and Henry( the GM) checked in and chatted with guests regularly. The hotel kindly left a bottle of wine and glasses for my birthday, gave us bottled water and provided umbrellas. There were 2 weddings and a photo shoot while we were there. A lovely hotel! Lots of shops along the cobbled streets, historical sites easy to walk to.

The location in Old San Juan is perfect. I can't remember staying in such a perfect hotel.
