This is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in Okinawa . I wax amazed everything ! They have a wonderful hospitality . Everting was perfect !!

Blissful was the first word that came to my mind when thinking back at my stay at the Okinawa Spa Resort Exes. We picked the large room with the tatami area and its 59 square meters were plenty of estate to enjoy. The room design was quite pleasant, a mix of classic and modern, with nice local touches. Between the charming sitting space on the tatami, the couch by the window in the closed balcony space, and the sea-facing open balcony, we enjoyed every minute spent in the room. The beds were large and comfortable, the bathroom featured both a shower and a bathtub (and two sink bowls), and the amenities were of good quality and in generous quantity. Everything was spotless clean and little things, like the silent knob on the restroom door, showed a good attention to details. The beach was easy to reach with the hotel shuttle. Alternatively, the hotel has a very nice outdoor infinity pool and jacuzzi, as well as an indoor pool and jacuzzi. The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous, with a huge variety of dishes (mostly asian and many local, but not only) which one could enjoy without mixing up the flavours thanks to the practical plates with 9 compartments. To top that off, one can also choose between 5 different receipes of eggs made to order, among which an original fusion eggs Benedict served with local taco meat and sweet potato puree. The staff was always nice and very helpful. We tried the massage service and that was truly excellent. While this hotel has a couple of small shops, it is connected through a gallery to a four star hotel from the same group, which has quite a lot more shops and entertainment options. This, by the way, is also where the bus to/from the airport is stopping. The hotel is just a few minutes walk (warning, though, that’s a bit of a slope) from the main road and its restaurants and shops. All in all, we had a wonderfully relaxing and pampering stay at the Okinawa Spa Resort Exes and I certainly intend to come here again.

We just wanted to say a big thank you to the courteous and attentive staff for making our stay truly enjoyable. Everything about the hotel and stay were perfect; we highly recommend it. The hotel is on a hill overlooking the ocean that can be reached via complimentary shuttle or a short walk. The water was impeccable and we were mesmerised by the ocean life we saw when snorkeling. We had a lovely time in Okinawa and would most certainly return.

An absolutely superb hotel with well appointed and maintained rooms and facilities. The staff is excellent and exceedingly helpful and welcoming. Just a note that most of the staff is not fluent in English but with some rudimentary Japanese communication was not a problem. This hotel is not waterfront but you can easily walk to the beach or take a 2 minute shuttle that leaves every 10 minutes. I couldn't be happier with the Spa Resort Exes!

First, I want to write a bit about my adventure in finding a place to stay in Okinawa, then i will get into this hotel specifically. I found it extremely difficult to plan this part of our trip because it's so difficult to get a feel for what Okinawa would be like from information online, so i want to try to help any non-Japanese speaker in the future with their planning as much as possible! About finding a place to stay: When I travel, I like to stay at unique boutique-style places and I like traveling in style. I wanted to find a quaint, unique, boutique-like experience on Okinawa that we could use as a jumping off point for day trips, lazy beach days, scuba diving, and maybe some sightseeing. I spent weeks and weeks pouring over every place on trip advisor and booking.com, I actually opened the map feature and clicked every single place that was 4 or 5 star rated. I found one place that fit my description (Hyakuna Garan), but it was booked fully in the middle of our stay, so ended up not being able to stay there. Because Hyakuna Garan was my ideal place, i asked them where else i should stay. They suggested Spa Resort EXES and Busena Terrace - both of which we ended up staying at during our 7 days on Okinawa. About Okinawa in general: Be prepared for major issues with language barrier here. Of our 4 week trip through Japan, this was the only place that gave us trouble. Our time here was relaxing, but it was also frustrating at times. The drive from the airport area takes a lot longer than you think and there aren't a lot of public transport options. If you want to do more than just hang at your resort, make sure to factor that in. We chose to stay about 1,5 hours north of the airport, which meant we couldn't get to tons of attractions (Like the military/war memorials in the South), and it's pretty expensive to get around. Make sure to ask your hotel in advance about transport options and the prices. Due to transport limitations, it would also be a good idea to schedule your inbound our outbound flights around times that you will actually be able to use the cheaper transport options, otherwise that off-peak travel budget ticket you purchased on Peach.com might not have been worth it when you add up how much more you're paying for a private taxi to your resort 2 hours away :( Okay, now onto Spa resort EXES (comparing to Busena Terrace, right down the street): The good - Their breakfast was amazing! Their rooms were huge and beautiful. The turn-down amenities were fantastic. The pajamas and Okinawan salt cookies you get on your pillow were great touches and the soaps and lotions in the bathroom were l'occitaine - super high quality. The bad - It's not next to the beach - it's a 15 minute walk or a quick shuttle ride. The beach and the outdoor pool close at 5pm, which was a bit disappointing. There wasn't much to do at all on the "resort." it's really just a hotel and a pool. The spa treatments were insanely expensive, so we skipped those, and the dining options left a lot to be desired outside of breakfast, so we took a cab into town almost every night. Also, as noted before, the English level of nearly all staff was staggeringly poor, so be prepared to be disappointed and frustrated, unless you get the ONE lady at the front desk that is somewhat fluent. Overall, I'd say if you're looking for a resort experience, do not go here, go to Busena.
