Love the late breakfast until 12 in the room in front of our private pool. The breakfast is super awesome and I would argue that it is better than most top breakfasts in the Nordics - even the ones that win breakfast awards.
Love the fact that they don't have a room service fee and you can buy stuff for the villa at any time.
Private place and very few people. So this is a place to chill. Close to Stone Town, so if you want to combine with Zafari and stuff then this is one of the better locations compared to the north and east sides. Zanzi is perfect for couples and families wanting to hang out together. If you want to see some of the long Zanzibar beaches - then I might combine with another hotel (if you have not seen the long beaches before).
Some will likely be disappointed with low tide beach play. High tide is awesome for swimming at Zanzi from the beach. During low tide, you need beach-footware or use the pier. Important remark; all of Zanzibar beaches will have challenges to swim during low tide (some parts of Nungwi might be OK, but that is a busy place compared to Zanzi Resort).
At Zanzi you wake up - look out into the jungle or the ocean, jump in the pool, and wait for breakfast to be brought to your room. Then you hang out and relax - perhaps explore the pier or go on an excursion, and then get an awesome 5-course dinner at night - either at the beach, on the pier, in their restaurant, or in your own villa.

The location was a combination of beach and jungle. The room was excellent, comfortable and clean. It had a bedroom plus a living room and you could exit both onto the private garden which led down to the beach. We also had a pool. The room was cleaned daily and water, etc updated.
The grounds were lovely and paths kept clean of leaves etc.
Finally, the staff were brilliant. I am unable to name one in particular as they were all friendly and efficient, always willing to sort something out for me, e.g. I lost my phone (I hadn’t really lost it I’d just forgotten what I’d done with it) but they looked for it for me and were completely understanding when I was making a fuss over nothing!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would happily return.

Staying at Zanzi Resort does not feel like staying in a hotel, but being hosted by friends. Wonderfully kept lush tropical gardens, lots of privacy, very friendly staff that makes you feel welcome from the first moment ... and an excellent and varied cuisine, which exceeded our expectations. We loved our stay from the moment we arrived! Not the best place to enjoy swimming in the sea, - but a good base to explore the sites nearby. And at the end of the day a beautiful sunset awaits on the pier. A perfect hideaway to relax and unwind!

This is a beautiful resort that feels off the beaten path & tranquil from the moment we arrived after a long week on Safari in Tanzania. We had villa #1 which had a spacious living room, bathroom, and separate bedroom. It also had a private pool in the back yard. We choose the 1/2 inclusive package which was perfect for us. It included Breakfast every morning up to 12 noon which was great as we like to eat late while on vacation. It also included dinner every night. The food was very good and the dinner menu changed daily. So much delicious options and reasonably priced wine options made it easy. They have a very long pier at the ocean and it became a habit to get dressed up for dinner & walk out on the pier beforehand for a sunset cocktail. We loved the place so much we only left one day to do a tour of a spice farm and Stones Town. The spice farm experience was amazing & we learned so much about not just the type of spices the island is famous for, but how to use them in a variety of ways that as Americans, we simply didn’t know. Stones Town was very touristy but a not miss is the Slave Market. This is the historical site that documents the history of slavery on Zanzibar which was quite robust in the late 1800’s. As with any stay there are things that weren’t perfect as we had an issue with our pool, but the staff was quick to respond and apologized which made us feel that they truly cared about our stay. I would go back & I highly recommend this resort.

Zanzi Resort truly is a tropical paradise. The resort is stunningly lush, green and well kept. Our private ocean access Villa was spotlessly clean. If you are looking for seclusion and Tranquility, this is the place for you. The resort is absolutely stunning and the service is exceptional - a particular shout out to Nivot, the manager who organised our beautiful beach wedding - it was perfect in every way and we felt very special . If you are thinking about Getting married, I would absolutely recommend Zanzi resort.
We had planned various trips but the beautiful ocean view and private pool meant that we just stayed at the resort most of the time! Bush Babies came to our garden most nights and we had some visits from a family of monkeys too.
The food is also exceptional, particularly dinner which is usually a five course meal.
We will be returning next year for sure!

My partner and I stayed at Zanzi Resort for our honeymoon, and wow! What a spectacular resort. We were treated with so much love and kindness that we felt we were dreaming during our stay there. We had the bungalow with a private pool, which was very clean and tidy, both inside and out. The exceptional staff made our stay there one of our most memorable stays in Zanzibar. I would like to personally thank Emanuel for going above and beyond to make my partner and I feel so at home and loved during our stay. You would be the reason why we would return to this resort :) Thank you!
Regarding the facilities. The pier had a nice lounging area and the swimming from it was fantastic. There were SUPS that could be used free of charge to paddle around the scenic coastline. The beach is not as picturesque as some of the northern beaches, but the very tropical setting of this resort makes you feel that you are on a long-lost tropical paradise island. The restaurant was fantastic, and it was the best food we had during our trip to Zanzibar. They even have a little platform that leads from a tree and enters the beautiful restaurant where bushbabies come down to sit on during dinner time! What an experience.
All in all, I highly recommend this gem of a place, and we will definitely return to this resort when we return to Zanzibar.

There is not one thing I would change about this resort. The grounds: Absolutely beautiful with so many different kinds of flora. The villas: Immaculately clean, spacious and so comfortable. The service: There are not words enough to say how fabulous the entire staff was. They continually went out of their way to help us. We were always greeted with a cheerful Jambo. Just all around great, great, great. The food: Oh my goodness. Everything was a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.
Extra: Alex taught me how to make the garnishes on one of my cocktails.
Most importantly: I never felt unsafe for even a second. Security was present for sure, but they were never intrusive.

Me and my husband spent our honeymoon at Zanzi resort and couldn’t be happier with our choice thanks to the excellent welcoming, service, and experience at the resort for our 10 nights stay. We stayed at the villa with ocean access, which was amazing with everything you needed, the service was flawless and the staff very nice and polite. The food was very good giving us a great selection of daily brunches and a new five course dinner every evening. The beverages were nice with a broad selection of wine, sparkling wine, drinks, and juices. Apart from having our meals either by the villa or at the restaurant, we also had a private dinner set up for us by the beach one night. We can highly recommend this resort for those seeking a private holiday, there were days we didn’t even meet another guest for the entire day. The resort is big with nice walking trails within the garden, you get a nice jungle feeling when meeting monkeys and other friends, and the common areas with pool, beach, and the jetty together with offerings to borrow SUPs, and snorkeling equipment etc., was very nice. Staff was happy to help us plan our different day trips and activities and they were very personal following up after each activity. We would be happy to come back again in the future and re-live our honeymoon! ❤ Big thanks to everyone giving us a most pleasant stay! /Johanna & Jens

I recommend to book a villa with a private pool as the hotel beach is a bit rocky, however you can swim from a pier. This hotel is for relaxation in the privacy of the villa, not for classic beach experience. So it made a very nice addition to our stay in Paje and Nungwi as the vibe was completely different.
