I’m a platinum rewards member and used a suite night upgrade. I got a junior suite which was spacious and had two balconies with nice ocean views however the room was super awkward with the tv mounted to a side wall with no swivel not facing the bed which made it impossible to watch comfortably. There was a tiny firm couch you could watch it from. Nothing special about the bathroom either just an extra space with another sink. Check in was painfully slow and strictly not until 3pm. Uncle is too old and fragile to be checking in guests, he asked us to write the room number down because he couldn’t press down hard enough on the pen to write. Then he accidentally threw our room cards in the trash and had to start all over so we didn’t get to our room until 3:30. He didn’t explain where the room was or any amenities. There is no Kama’aina discount on the resort fee or the parking fee so even though I paid with points It was still over $100 to stay one night. They only gave us 2pm check out instead of 4pm. I’d rather use my points at Sheraton Princess Kaiulani where they give Kama’aina discounts and generous check in/out times. Also sunscreen all over the leatherette bench in front of the bed was gross.

Just ok, resort fees are terrible
I used my bonvoy room upgrade and the room wasn’t great. I’ve had similar rooms on business travel without upgrading. It was roomy but basic with side view of the ocean. The breakfast used to be more robust as well. Our free night ended up being close to $200 with...

This was the first vacation, my husband and I have been able to take in a long time and we enjoyed every minute. We spoke with the wonderful concierge Lydia before arriving and were able to schedule the luau, Pearl Harbor excursion and get some good tips ahead of time. We reserved dinner at the Signature Steakhouse at the beautiful Alo Moana Hotel which was great. It was nice to have most days planned before we arrived.,We booked the North Shore tour directly with the tour company and probably saved a few bucks. Most importantly, we upgraded to insure we had a balcony room on a high floor with a beach view. Absolutely recommend you do this because it was just so lovely every day to look out on the water and enjoy the sunrises, sunsets, beach and water activities and even a gorgeous rainbow after a little morning rainfall. It was so relaxing, the shower and bed and room layout were excellent with coffee maker and fridge. The location of this hotel is excellent, lots of eating choices and walkable shopping, beach time even the zoo and nice view of Diamond Head. Try not to book dinner or luau on Friday night because we missed the fireworks at the beach. Only disappointment was the morning yoga class - it was not invigorating or relaxing and the instructor was rude and just going through the motions. But the tai chi class was great and we enjoyed the gym, the pool tables and watching the games in the lounge downstairs. Only wish they had a sauna but overall, the service, amenities, cleanliness of this hotel did not disappoint! We will be back!

From the moment we arrived the customer service was awful and the room was old and dirty. We tried to get a different room but they said there was nothing available. The deadbolt did not work, the carpet was stained, there was damage to the balcony overhang, various "hairs" in the bathroom area and the vents were filthy. We ended up leaving a day early as we just could not stay there anymore.

False advertising on ocean front rooms- complete disappointment!
We booked and paid for an oceanFRONT corner view room with a balcony, but what we received was far from that. Instead, our bed faces a neighboring building, and the ocean view is only partial—certainly not the oceanfront experience that was advertised in the photos. Adding to the disappointment, check-in was supposed to be at 3 PM, but we had to wait an extra hour to access our room, even after spending thousands of dollars. This feels incredibly misleading and unprofessional. Customer service has been lost on this location.

Our anniversary stay at the Waikiki Marriott Resort & Spa was absolutely fantastic. We initially checked in to a beautiful room, but halfway through our stay, the team managed to secure the suite we had originally requested. This upgrade made our celebration even more special, and we truly appreciated the effort they put into making it happen. Throughout our time there, the staff was incredibly attentive, always quick to respond to our needs via the app. They made sure everything was perfect, adding to the feeling that we were genuinely valued guests. The resort’s amenities added so much to our experience—my wife loved starting mornings with yoga, enjoying a delicious free breakfast, and relaxing in the pool and hot tub. The hotel bar was also a hit for evening drinks, giving us and our friends a lively spot to unwind together. The location in Waikiki was ideal, making it easy to explore and enjoy the local attractions. Our friends who joined us had a wonderful time too, and everyone was impressed with the outstanding service and attention to detail. Marriott truly made our anniversary memorable, and we couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable, guest-focused experience!

We stayed two nights in early October. We found the room to be very comfortable and provided us with a good view of the ocean. The pool area appeared small and busy although we didn’t intend on using the pools. One night there was a lot of noise from the spa area, it didn’t really bother us though. We had lunch at the bar overlooking the beach and we enjoyed it. Good view as well. The beach across the road is a good way to relax and we did a few times while sitting at Kai coffee. If you are Australian take note, as nothing else comes close.

Disappointing Stay at Marriott Waikiki – Resort Fee is Daylight Robbery

I recently stayed at the Marriott Waikiki Resort and Spa in Honolulu, and I have to say, the experience left a lot to be desired—especially the outrageous $50 daily resort fee. You expect this kind of charge to come with perks, but all you get is basic Wi-Fi access. No complimentary water bottles, no extra amenities—just a fee for the sake of charging one. The excuse they give for not providing bottled water? They claim it’s part of their sustainability efforts. However, it’s hard to believe that’s the reason when the coffee in your room comes with individually wrapped paper cups in plastic. The hypocrisy is frustrating. If Marriott truly cared about sustainability, they could easily provide refillable water bottles or other eco-friendly options, but clearly, this is more about cutting costs than saving the planet. Calling this a “resort fee” is a joke—it’s just a sneaky way to squeeze more money out of guests. Shame on you, Marriott Waikiki. Be upfront and transparent with your guests, because this feels more like a scam than a service.

My wife and I came here for our honeymoon for 4 nights. This has to be the most average “resort.” The rooms are ok, but the towels are as rough as sand paper. Literally irritating… The showers are not water-tight. Water will seep out and create puddles on the ground, soaking the towel meant for drying your feet. You will be given a “welcome” gift, which is a promotional message to buy more. No thanks. Breakfast is $50… umm what? I just went to the Starbucks at the hotel for that matter. The valet service is very good though. The drivers are so polite and quick. 5 starts for the valet… 3 for everything else

Be prepared to not sleep the entire time you’re here! This was a Nightmare not a vacation!! First let me say that the location is great and the staff is very friendly. The check in process was good and fairly painless. A lot of hotels like to use the work “resort” so that they can charge a resort fee. Here it was $50.00 per night plus tax. Self parking an additional $55.00 a night plus tax on top of paying $400.00 a night plus taxes. This hotel was not a “resort” but rather a cheap hotel with a pretty good view. No robes or slippers in the room. I don’t think you could even get room service. There was no menu in the room. This cheap towels that were so rough they actually scratch your skin to the point that my back bled a little after toweling off. The room was just “ok” it was clean and rundown. This hotel is packed with people. Elevators take a long long long time and there are a lot of people waiting at all hours. The first night we both tossed and turned due to the rock hard uncomfortable bed. We slept very little all night and just wanted to sleep in a little . But at 9:12AM the phone rings. And wakes us up.!! It was the Marriot Vacations Desk calling to tell us to come down so they could tell us about excursions and offers!!!! Please I don’t need to be woken up to hear a timeshare presentation . Put a note under a door if you need to try to sell me something. Don’t call vacationers at 9:12Am! RUDE! And I couldn’t get back to sleep, The second night people kept using the fire escape next to our room to go down to get ice because they have ice machines on the floor below us. The elevators are so slow that people have figured out as did we to use the fire stairs. Slam Slam Slam Slam all night. We were exhausted from all the times during the night that people used the fire escape. We asked the housekeepers for a mattress topper or additional blanket to sleep on top of . She said yes a lot of people can’t sleep well on these old beds!. She got us a blanket which helped quite a bit. The third day we used the pool which was packed with tons of people no chairs without dirty towels and so we went and swam in the kids pool. The third night lots of college kids partying in the hallways and we called the fest a few times to ask if they can send security but it went on most of the night till 330 in the morning. The final morning we were there we finally slept out of pure exhaustion and were happy to be going home that evening. But AT 700 AM till about 730am. we were awoken to megaphones drums and screaming. There were about 30 people in front of the hotel from a hotel labor action that has been going on for a while. We turned the tv on to try to drown out the noise but that didn’t cover up the bullhorns and noise. I do feel very sorry for the staff as they do work hard …but for gods sake Marriot as much as you are charging for this very average hotel pay your staff!! We couldn’t wait to leave this Marriot we went on the Tv to check out ..and there was a $100.00 extra charge that they had to take off!! I have to wonder if we didn’t check we would have been charged for that. My recommendation is stay far far away from this horrible hotel. I usually love Marriot but this was an epic fail and I will not be back
