Our stay at Villa Oriana Relais was the perfect retreat after two weeks of exploring northern Italy. From the moment we stepped through the door, we felt a sense of peace and warmth. The staff were gracious and attentive, helping us with everything from ordering pizza on our first night (we were exhausted!) to arranging taxis into town. The home-cooked breakfasts, complete with fresh coffee and pastries, were an absolute highlight—especially when enjoyed alongside the breathtaking views. It was truly the most wonderful way to end our journey through Italy. Thank you to everyone at Villa Oriana Relais for such a memorable and relaxing stay. We hope to return someday!

My family stayed here in 2003 and I decided to come back this year with my husband. I remembered Maria so fondly and it was wonderful to be back and see her again. We were welcomed with fresh sparkling lemonade and cake and they had a bottle of champagne waiting for us in the room as we were on our honeymoon! The breakfast spread is unlike anything else, always made with so much care and love. Maria works so hard to make sure everyone is having a nice time. Her team is very kind and helpful as well. The jacuzzi is a great addition to the rooftop! We spent lots of time up there at sunset. The Dyson hairdryer in the bathroom was a nice surprise! We will be back to see Maria and her family again!

Villa Oriana Relais in Sorrento was the highlight of our trip to Italy. The hotel is nestled in the most beautiful spot with a perfect view of the water and Mount Vesuvius. The orange, lemon, lime and olive trees surround the property and just adds to the beauty of the location. As amazing as the property is, the true gem of this hotel is Maria and her staff. They are so genuine and welcoming. Maria is an amazing baker and the quality of the food offered was delicious. Maria takes such pride in the food which is produced locally. We felt honoured to stay at this beautiful property. We hope to return!

This was the best place we stayed at while in Italy. Breakfast was amazing with different wonderful dishes each morning. The view overlooking the bay is breath taking and the rooms were comfortable with bathrooms that had dyson hairdryers and everything you needed. The grounds are gorgeous and it was so quiet. I could spend a whole week just in this one location. What really made this place special was our talks with Maria the owner, learning about the history of the land and her childhood growing up in this little bit of paradise. You can feel the love and passion she has for the Villa, the land and all her guests. You just can't help but fall in love with this wonderful place that is truly home away from home. We will be back!

Villa Oriana Relais resides in a lovely setting of lemon and olive trees. Its white facade is very elegant, overlooking Sorrento from the hills above. The view of the beautiful water surrounding Sorento is captivating! The great attention to detail by Maria, and all the staff is absolutely unsurpassed! The rooms were well appointed and spacious with some rooms offering views of the water below. The beautiful and delicious breakfast was freshly made every morning. We definitely hope to stay here again and have already told others about what a delight we found in Villa Oriana Relais!

When you leave a hotel and feel a tinge of sadness, you realise that you have experienced something magical.  For all the time we spent at Villa Oriana, it never felt like we were staying at a hotel, but more like staying with friends (or family - the ones you like!!) who happened to have a very lovely villa, overlooking the Bay of Naples and Sorrento, with Vesuvius thrown in for good measure! From the minute we drove through the gates and were welcomed by the lovely Marika, with a refreshing glass of homemade lemonade and the most amazing apple cake, and shown to our beautiful room we knew we had made the right choice! The attention to detail and  the passion for making the Villa Oriana experience so special was evident in all of the Villa Oriana team, none more so than  the delightful owner of this lovely villa, Maria. It was lovely to talk to her and to hear her stories of her life and family and, of course, sample  the wonderful food that she cooked with her sister, Lucia, for breakfast. The cakes (yes, cakes for breakfast!) were delicious, my favourites being the chocolate brioche and biscotti filled with homemade jams. Play your cards right, and you might get some recipes too! The villa is set up on the hillside with spectacular views over Sorrento and the Bay of Naples. Yes, it's a 20 minute or so walk downhill into Sorrento, but it's a small price to pay for the view, and to be away from the noise and hustle and bustle of the main road in Sorrento. If you don't want to walk, you can make use of the regular shuttle bus that runs from a nearby hotel,  The Christina, for a couple of euros, which is significantly cheaper than a taxi. The villa also has an arrangement with a couple of nice restaurants who will come and pick you up and return you with full bellies! The rooms are very spacious, ours had views of the lemon groves and the Bay of Naples, a massive bathroom with 2 showers and, it has to be mentioned, a dyson hairdryer, something I've not seen before even in a 5 star hotel, the average hotel hairdryer normally being as  effective as being breathed on by a mildly asthmatic hamster! Everywhere in the hotel is spotlessly clean. The staff at the Villa are wonderful and will give you advice on places to visit and can even book trips for you. There is a lovely sundeck on the flat roof of the villa with very comfortable sunbeds (towels provided on request) with a hot tub, as welll as a shaded seating area where you can take in the spectacular views and the sunset whilst sipping on a glass of wine. I was quite sceptical when I saw all the 5 star reviews for the Villa. Nothing can be that good, I thought... but it can...and it is...in fact... it's better!! Quite often in life, things don't live up to expectations, and you leave disappointed, like a few Oscar winning movies I've seen over the years!  Villa Oriana not only lived up to our expectations but exceeded them by a country mile! If Villa Oriana was a film, it would have  a shelf full of Oscars and from this particular Brit, BAFTAs too! So if you're reading this and wondering whether or not to book a room at Villa Oriana, stop hesitating and book it and become a member of the "Family Oriana". You won't regret it! Show quoted text

A beautiful villa in lush gardens run by a warm and capable group of people. The villa is walking distance to the centre of Sorrento, via a hilly path. Set above the town, the view over the sea, across to Naples and Vesuvius is breathtaking. Maria, the owner, is an accomplished baker and produces fresh homemade delights every morning for the wonderful breakfast buffet. Her team are the friendliest and most accommodating I have come across. The villa is immaculately clean and it is evident that Maria & team take great pride in what they do, as well they should.

The Villa Oriana Relais truly embodied the Italian experience I've always dreamed of. This property is an absolute gem and I can't wait to come back to stay again. The hospitality is second to none and we were very well taken care of. Maria personally delivered an explanation of everything at breakfast and described in detail how each dish was prepared with care from all local and fresh ingredients. On a scale of 1 to 5, Villa Oriana Relais is a 10.

We stayed here Oct. 2 through Oct. 5th. I truly wished we had planned our stay to be longer because we enjoyed it so much. Our room was amazing and the view was spectacular. The hosts were so friendly and the food was delicious. It was a wonderful experience.

From the moment we arrived we felt spoilt! We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary & had been upgraded to a suite! The room was large & stylish with plenty of storage. The view over the bay from our balcony was breathtaking! Great shower & the Dyson hairdryer was a great touch. Breakfast was amazing, freshly made rolls quiche & cakes, with homemade marmalade, freshly squeezed orange juice, fruit & coffee overlooking the bay & mount Vesuvius. We used the hot tub & roof terrace & had the place to ourselves, the sunbeds & umbrellas were top quality. Colomba even bought us our wine in the hot tub! We have had the most wonderful stay & can’t thank Maria, Colomba, Marika & all her team.. We hope to return in the near future :) X

Our stay at Villa Oriana certainly lived up to the high expectations set by previous reviewers. The location - perched above Sorrento overlooking the Bay of Naples - gives fabulous views, especially from the main and rooftop terraces. The arrangement to use the nearby hotel's regular shuttle service really helped also, as we could enjoy the peaceful setting but also get down to Sorrento and back to suit our plans. Maria is an exceptional hostess, and is quite rightly proud of the experience that she offers her guests. Her staff added to this by following the same principles - nothing was too much trouble for them. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast - most of it home made using garden produce and Maria's assortment of freshly baked quiches and cakes each day. We'd love to return in the future.

The property is absolutely beautiful with amazing views. Our room was clean and bright and quiet. Maria and team were so kind and attentive! The breakfasts were spectacular with the homemade frittata, quiche, and an assortment of freshly baked items daily. So many choices at breakfast! My most favorite things were the Italian cheesecake, and croissants. The cheesecake brought me back to memories of my mother's cheesecake. Thank you so much for making us feel like we were at home in your Villa! We loved our stay!

Maria and her staff are second to none. They are first class in every way!!! From the magnificent, immaculate property to the freshly baked goods for breakfast daily it is both a very special and unique experience. The beautiful property built into the mountain has an incredible view and is both modern in features and impeccably maintained. The ambiance of the entire experience is warm, welcoming and always accomadating. Maria is an absolute delight and makes it a very personal experience. She takes such pride in both her generational family property, her family and if your lucky... her beautiful grandson may be visiting!!! Her staff are outstanding and fantastic at assisting guests in any way possible. The beauty of the lemon orchards, olive trees and grapes surrounding the villa just add the ambiance of your stay in Sorrento. I highly recommend the Villa Oriana Relais and hope to return again. It truly is a special experience to be cherished.

Wow! What an amazing place to stay. We travelled to Sorrento for 4 nights to celebrate my birthday. My partner had wanted to book something special for us, did his research and did not disappoint with Villa Oriana Relais. Communication prior to our trip was excellent and Maria and her team were very informative with responding to questions. On arrival at the villa we were greeted with a beautiful piece of homemade cake and lemonade. The staff were very welcoming and we immediately felt relaxed. The views from the balcony and our room were stunning, a joy to wake up to. The homemade and lovingly prepared breakfast every morning was gorgeous and set us up for the day. I honestly don't know how Maria fits in all of this baking! The villa is situated up a steep hill which we challenged ourselves to walk up each day. However, there is a shuttle service available if you don't want to do this as it is very steep! It's around 25mins to walk to Sorrento town square and is conveniently placed for excursions outside of the town too. We visited Pompeii and Capri. Maria and her team keep the villa immaculate and there is always someone available to ask questions of. There is a hot tub, sun loungers and seating area on the roof of the villa which was an added bonus. Our room and en suite had everything in it we could need, was spacious and clean. Thank you Maria and team for making our stay in Sorrento perfect.
